You really shouldnt bother with conversion if you cant even half the original size. If you need help with better conversion tools I recommend Irfanview with the plugin, you can set quality and speed. Test some images make sure the size is at least half the size lower before doing a full batch. I use speed 7, but 6 can be fine too.

I usually aim for larger reductions. Different resolutions and sources require different setting for optimal results.

Sorry a lot of your conversion were basically a waste of time.

Changing resolution also is easy and sometimes makes sense - grainy photos. Basically the images should be around 10 times smaller in size.

I know cuz i convert all images to jxl to save space.
