you only have to be original and stand out if you want to stand out. is that what you want?
enjoy participating in an 'art challenge' of a little artist community or not, up to you. you could go wild and use this image as a jumping off point for practicing standing out too.

Give it a shot using a tiny sketch kit i just assembled. I think I'll have to add a black, maybe switch out the blue? Or do some half cups so i can have both, maybe switch to focus on a monochrome palette? Was pretty fun though.

My crappy first attempt at getting the ratios. Misplaced brow ridge and nose angle/size are off, as a result other landmarks on the head are off too and it lacks volume. Gonna revisit it tomorrow when im not tired

>>

you can start by measuring the distance between the upper lip and nose, then the bottom lip and chin, also that strand near her ear (not included in your painting) is a great anchor to draw the negative shapes in order to get the proportions correct.
Great shape design on the shirt though and it looks very nice as a thumbnail.

the nose is a bit much, but i noticed the slight bump in it as well doing my presketch (will be uploading later). i like the style though, looks good. i would probably even/straighten out the nose to brow ridge a little, pull it slightly inwards?

I can do realism but suck at stylisation so i gave this a shot. I should have just drawn it normally instead of trying something outside of my comfort zone

I suck, but to be fair I just dabble in art from time to time and have very slowly learned a little bit, mainly just by exercising visualization. I sort of winged it without looking at the image some of the way through. Forgive the attrocious quality, I had to use 3rd world methods to take this.

Thanks, anon. I'll be back, don't worry, but it's not as frequently as before. I'm going to be practicing a lot these coming months. Like I always say, at a certain point, I'll need to practice more than I post. Still lurking, tho.

Any advice? I tried to get as close as possible in 20 minutes
>>
>>
>>7886192
>20 minutes
take more time next time, step back, readjust the shapes and distances and then fill in the blanks. getting it right before you detail and shade/render is the most important. like a strong foundation for a house. and take your time to get it right, it'll make you feel better and the drawing better.

Yeah, as soon as you leave the /Beg/ & /Int/ threads, the general output becomes much better, and it isn't the same 5 people (and a bunch of stragglers) posting their art. Both good and bad art, you'll find much more varied art posted in other threads than those ones.

I wasn't the one that made it, and I was being tounge and cheek saying people fear it because of this post right here, look at the image. The one who drew it said he was IP banned from posting images, meaning, he couldn't post it here, you didn't even read the posts to see the context. I posted his image that he uploaded there, here for him.

It’s amazing how you did the back anon I have been trying to learn that for a while now.
I have learned how to some degree, but it’s not that much of an effect yet.
I know this has something to do with proper lighting and shading and I would like some advice from a more experienced artist such as you on how to do this better if you have the free time.
I wanted to use the technique for the palms of the hands, the muscles and maybe other similar surfaces like maybe cloth folds. I have been trying to making a single shape look lumpy if the is the correct term.
I would also like to ask other anons in this board if they have advice on how to do this better as well?

Nah I just have a bad webcam that doesn't register things well unless under very bright light, so things look dark and shadowy. It was a bit of a process just taking that because I needed to position the light right and hold the webcam at the same time, then put the camera on a 10 or 15 second timer so I could let the camera focus before it snapped the picture. I have a phone locked away that I don't even use that's better but it's slow and planned obsolete. I didn't want to fish it out at the time, hence, it being third world.

Not sure how i'd advise you but it's mostly just hatch control. You have to practice hatching and the effect just sort of comes naturally after that. Your eye learns to see where to throw the hatches. Keep in mind i'm not exactly some expert I just did this many years and it comes naturally now. Still pretty messy but it comes cleaner with time.
