This thread is for discussing the business side of art (both SFW and porn). Drawing is fun but so is making money. Let's talk about how to promote ourselves, do commissions, set up a good patreon/fanbox etc. Also feel free to shill your profiles and give feedback to other anons. Ignore any AI doomposting.
I don't currently have an account but I'm wondering if I should just bite the bullet and make one even though I'm not happy with my current level.

Has anyone tried giving their art to their local business on consignment? I oft see that as a method because of cafes and bars having shows or selling art, but never hear anyone actually talk about it.
So that's a method for the trad artists out there.

>It's too late, Anon. If you don't have a solid following and regular clients by now, don't start. I'm not doomposting, just stating the sad facts.

You don't know what kind of voodoo spells you cast when you dox yourself on a website that allows racism. Especially in a thread that wants you to talk about your own financial situation.
Nobody is going to post their work itt.

Well, there are more services out there then those two, surely there's one that serves your area that is easy for clients to pay into? So long as a client doesn't need to do anything more than enter their usual card information, it's fine as a pay service.
If it forces them to make an account, it's probably too much of a hassle.

Lately I feel like I get a lot more tire kickers than I used to. People who message asking for pricing, then send me their idea, I accept, but then suddenly change their mind when I'm ready to accept payment, to the point that I have one who is just sitting on an unpaid invoice, or even somebody who'd commissioned me multiple times previously just ghosting beyond the time they said they'd be ready to pay. I'd love to tell them to just fuck off and quit bothering me with "ideas" that they're never going to actually commission, but given how temperamental PayPal has apparently become with online artists, I'm afraid they'd try to get my account banned.
I guess there's no real way around this, but it just gets frustrating to have to deal with it, when other artists seem to have no shortage of actual paying commissioners who don't keep flaking.

Nah, outside of some rare instances, I generally require full payment before I start work (and sometimes an idea will strike my fancy and I'll go ahead and doodle it in case they follow through). I just didn't seem to run into as many people who seem to get a thrill from initiating the commission process without actually following through, like they get a kick out of an artist just reading their idea and accepting the commission.

I paint murals for small businesses in my area. Most things are quite simple like coffee beans, bread, etc. I use a doodle grid to draw the linework and then most of the time is spent on the actual painting part.
I started by painting murals as a hobby, posted pictures /videos of it and then one business contacted me and asked me to paint a small mural for them.

I've been having this idea in my head for quite some time. I realized the online world is ultra competitive and high level, but I've never actually met someone in the "real" world that was actually good and I do in fact go to live model drawing sessions. So in order to actually make a living out of this I should actually focus on real world stuff.
Care to elaborate more? I guess I should of course just try it first and see if I actually like it, but I'm curious to hear more if you want to share.
