>all the messy lines were caused by the frustration of not understanding how to use the pencil method.
It looks pretty simple to retry, why not clean it up? Maybe the messiness of your lines are throwing you off, practice getting the line you want. Working in pen (not ball point) really forces you to think before putting lines down, but you don't have to do that yet just be more aware.

What I usually have to do is allow myself to do what ever I want at first and when it inevitably fails because I'm not following a structured method my mind switches and recall it to ease the hurt of my ego.

If you're wondering what I'm struggling with more specifically, it's basically how to use all the measuring methods he teaches in his course. Even after rewatching the video 10 times, I understand the concept, but I can't actually do it on paper.

So, I have about 20 drawing books. I have read 1 of them. The rest I just look at the pics for inspiration. Do you all think reading the walls of text in there are worth it? Yes this is a retard question, but I want honesty.

it's pretty fucking simple, draw the lines/boxes/measurements right, then actually respect them when you draw the kettle or whatever. Look at how he draws, every edge and every corner ends exactly where your marks meet, he doesn't overshoot it or anything. Don't just yolo draw the kettle.
