Because it does. I've been grinding the cube rotation grid for over a year and I still can't get them perfectly right from memory. Sure you can learn to draw boxes with a perspective grid in a couple of days, but if you want to freehand them correctly in perspective it will take a lot longer. People complain about having to draw 250 boxes for DABs shitty challenge, but that's just tutorial mode.
