i know the materials(perspective made easy , loomis, draw with eye etc) and some drawabox routines, but i have literally no direction and just been fucking around with references and shitposting. I am improving but just barely.
can someone give me a daily routine(short ones like i dunno 1-1.5 hours max to draw art that's not "just draw" and utilizes the common /ic/ mnaterials and refs mentioned above??

oh boy did you just open a pandora's box
tl dr: nobody here knows and you're best off just ignoring everything below this post and coming up with whatever routine makes sense to you
>I am improving but just barely.
this will always be the case and it's just how it is I'm afraid

there is no right way, it's an art.
many instructors and methods just won't work for you personally, you have to experiment and find what you like and what suits you goal. the path you should have taken is obvious in hindsight, but you would not have known the correct path unless you reach multiple dead ends.
having a clear goal is very important
if you wanna draw anime girls then getting some experience trying to draw that will inform you on what you need to work on and focus your practice around that.
doing little projects of finished pieces and applying what you've learned helps a lot too.

dont be stupid. why do you want to do art? what is your goal? then do everything you need to achieve that goal. how is it so hard for you people to apply simple logic? it's like saying i want to become a doctor! but not specifying what kind of doctor at all.

who are you quoting? i asked you, what the fuck is your goal? are you just chasing clout? you will never be an artist of any sort. do you want to make a comic? you dont even have to be particularly good to make a comic, you can substitute a lot of shitty art with witty or interesting writing depending on the genre. do you want to be a portraitist? oh i get it, you just want social media attention and money from your art. there is better, easier ways to earn money, but you clearly dont want that either.
what the fuck is it that you want?
>pyw
you first, no-draw

so draw monsters from other artists and animals as well. draw teeth, draw burn victims, draw amputees, draw discovered rotten bodies, draw cut up bodies, draw fentanyl zombies, draw disgusting homeless people. you know what you have to do, you just arent doing it. get a bunch of reference material, then quit the internet and dont come back till youre done.

Define goal.
Choose book that gives you tools to pursue goal
Everyday:
Do 30 mins of drawing diagrams, exercises and note taking on book.
Do 30 mins of study of reference/masterwork using what you've learned from book
Do an hour of a project of your choosing, something that relates to goal.
Reflect and apply what you know you have to

Use the Cognitive Method (observe a reference, then put it away and draw from memory, then pull out the reference and draw while looking at it) in combination with the Iterative Method (recall your subject from memory and draw without a reference before using references).
Use the Shrimp Method in order to actually USE references (find references, then break them down into shapes and forms).
Do gesture studies, the envelope method, and blind contours to get better at drawing what you see. Do these as warmups, they're like what stretching is for a gym workout.
You should spend 30-90 minutes every other day drawing. If you spend more than 90 minutes, give yourself a twenty minute break every 90 minutes.
Here's my routine:
15 minutes:
>gesture studies
>blind contours
>envelope method
15-90 minutes
>Iterative Method: draw from memory
>Shrimp Method: find and use references
>Cognitive Method: put references away, then draw from memory, then look at references while drawing
The only things you should ever grind are lines and shapes and forms when you're first starting out.

You can pretty much draw ANYTHING you want if you use these three methods.
>draw a bunny from memory
>then grab a bunch of photos of bunnies to observe, trace, and break down into shapes and forms
>now put the bunnies away and draw from memory
>take out the bunnies and draw while looking at them
Drawing is "easy" when you realize that it's mostly about building a visual library in your mind, except you have to effectively copy the visuals into your head, and then carve out what you've copied onto paper while still preserving the visuals as 3D forms.
Most people don't really know the effective way to draw because the vast majority of artists are dyslexic/have dyscalculia or OCD. They're born with better 3D thinking skills when compared to other people, and due to how their brains are wired, they usually don't end up effectively trained to be able to teach someone else what is second nature to them.
It's like the tortoise and hare, except the tortoise (us) can actually run a fucking marathon and even exceed the hare if he puts in the work. And now you have the tools to do so.

yeah, its almost like studying for a test or learning a language or whatnot. its almost like... it takes work and time being spent? how weird. yeah, some people learn faster, some slower, just means you have to put more time into learning and doing instead of complaining and being frustrated. i could teach chris-chan to draw if i were allowed to chastise him, flogging, internet deprivation, starving etc till he learns his place at the grindstone. all it takes is the proper motivation.

A lot of people really don't want to admit that drawing is like any kind of craft or skill: you have to work hard (and work smart) before you play hard.
There are far too many /begs/ who think they'll magically become great artists by just meandering without an effective plan in place - either by not drawing enough or by just drawing a lot of stuff disconnectedly.
The kind of autist who improves at drawing is the guy who studiously draws for a decent amount every day, and then dedicates his free time (breaks, weekends, etc) to it. You will never improve at drawing if you only draw for several hours once a day, or if you "just draw" all the time.

if schools would teach more arts/music and whatnot even at the lowest level, we wouldnt have this mythical air around the arts. it used to be more commonplace, but now theyre mostly getting drilled into become wage cage husks or go into debt for a meme degree, only to become wage cage husks again.

Be the change you want to see in the world, anon. Schools are never gonna get more funding for arts programs, so it's our responsibility to spread the practical method and shatter the illusion. I work at a school and whenever the kids have to do art for an assignment, I don't hesitate to teach them what they need to do in order to get better.
