For the most part people don't care. At worst I've had a couple people give me funny looks, but I've had more people ask me about it and think it's neat to bring something like that places.
One time I was flying out to see my sister/take a vacation, and the company she works for has a stand inside the airport so I took a picture of my fumo in front of it to show I'd arrived. A couple days later I visited her at her work, and apparently the guy who had been working at the stand was in the office that day and recognized my fumo. He was a bit confused at first but once I explained I just like to take it with me places and take pictures (and realized I had a good reason to take what otherwise would be a very strange picture) he thought it was really cool and asked me to show him some other pictures I've taken.

I always transport my Fumos in a sling bag if I’m keeping them on my person and just wanna do photos, or a larger backpack if I’m bringing other stuff along. On road trips I usually buckle them in next to me and perch them on my dash when I park

Depends on how many I'm bringing with me. One small fits in either a shoulder bag (the legs get bent a bit, but not in a permanently damaging way) or a small paper bag that is put in a backpack for concealed carry, two smalls usually go in a bigger paper bag with a fixed bottom, one Mannaka fits in a large backpack I have, while the entire Fumoly only fits inside of a giant plastic-ish bag I got from a furniture store.
