Yuriyan Retriever's horror movie Mag Mag released in theaters on February 6th.

>The legend is chilling: “If you see her, it’s too late. If she falls in love with you, only death can free you.” When Sanae’s lover is killed by the Mag Mag ghost, she swears revenge—only to uncover a far darker truth about who truly betrayed her.
>When Sanae’s beloved is taken by the eerie entity known only as “Mag Mag,” she attempts to take revenge. However, the object of her vendetta starts to shift over the course of her journey. The film gradually transforms into a genre experiment that pays homage to the lineage of Japanese film and television. Drawing on the traditions of horror classics, the elaborate production designs of reality shows, the romantic tropes of early J-drama, as well as her own experiences, Retriever reshapes these influences into something distinct and new. The result is a darkly humourous debut that twists obsession into a love story at once unpredictable, haunting and human in its exploration of the universal desire for love.

Funny how a few geinins got inspired by Kitano Takeshi and tried to do filmmaking, but the only one who made some waves is fucking Yuriyan.

yuriyan, hiroyuki sanada, takehiro hira, maybe even hidetoshi nishimura and yamapi. they've figured it out that moving overseas and double-dipping in both japanese and foreign productions is the only way to get to the next level or else you're stuck doing doramas and CMs for the rest of your life

AFAIK, shitty af.
I tried the latest kotoba model just to transcribe JP subs for a>>50692271

You need to feed it short audio chunks so it doesn't make a bigger mess with timings, and it still doesn't do well when multiple characters speak, or when there's loud noises/music interrupting things. It just ignores full words and lines. Same thing with dialects.

Just watched Love Exposure.
What an absolute waste of time. Long movies are perfectly fine but at least make sure you don't have dogshit pacing. Holy shit it felt like 2 weeks.
At least it gets points for being pretty sexy.
>>
>>50697270
Contrarianism is a mental illness.
>>
>>50697270
I don't know about you but even though Love Exposure is very long, they're rewarding 4 hours and you can never predict where it's going. Actually those 4 hours felt shorter than many 90-minutes-long films I've watched. It's an example of why film is a powerhouse of an artform. A testament of how incredible Sono Sion is at creating emotional rollercoasters. It has a perfect synergy of his idiosyncratic style, his abstract and challenging messages and themes, and his obsession with bizarre characters and elongated runtimes.
>>
>>50697270
>Holy shit it felt like 2 weeks
This isn't the first time I've seen people say something like that about the movie, but I don't personally get it. It didn't feel that way at all to me, and I say this as someone who has a kind of screwed up attention span.

What part of it was rewarding? Everyone (except Yu's delinquent friends that are extremely sensible towards him) is acting like a deranged automaton whose acts don't line up with their supposed reasons.
Yu wasn't attached to the Sasori character at all and she just happened to appear, but then he not only loses his mind right at the finish line (brain trauma from getting strangled couldn't have appeared so soon or while he was conscious) but somehow turns into her? Not that it matters since he is magically cured from seeing Yoko once.
Yoko is pretty cute but has 0 going for her as a character. She just hates men but then gets magically cured offscreen to have the ending play out. Getting her targeted instead of anyone else for the 0 church was a huge reach.
Kaori is just a random washed up whore so she acts as she should.
Yu's dad refuses (and heavily abuses) his son, his faith and everything his previous wife represented for said whore. You could argue that priesthood was him coping with loneliness all along and he removes himself again from it the moment a woman shows interest in him, but that's just cheap. Same as him going "Ah Yu sorry for the abuse pal, lol" and then somehow getting an offscreen happy ending.
Aya is a walking plothole but acts like a schizo would so whatever.
The story spazzes around but without taking the characters in mind so it all feels trivial and forced, same with some of the completely random visuals. They worked in "Why don't you play in hell" (which was actually good btw) but they're shit here.
I've said enough about the flick, the rest of your reply reads like a word salad found in a paid movie journal so I'm sure there was no point to it.

>>50697430
It's probably exactly because of your attention span that you didn't notice the nonsensical directions it was taking. I prefer long movies in general and the only one that has felt tiring thus far has been "The good sleep well" , which after watching the ending is precisely part of its point.

Yoshimoto Kogyo announced that Gaki no Tsukai No Laughing Batsu Game series will expand overseas

https://www.nikkansports.com/entertainment/news/202602250000089.html

>Yoshimoto Kogyo has formed a partnership with Banijay Entertainment, one of the world's largest production company groups, aiming for the global expansion of the “No Laughing” series. Through the sale of Yoshimoto Kogyo's format, local versions of “No Laughing” can now be produced worldwide.

>Production of local versions is planned through Banijay's powerful production network spanning 25 countries and regions worldwide, including the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe, comprising approximately 130 production companies. Banijay has a proven track record, having produced 11 local versions of “Documental,” a show conceived by Downtown's Matsumoto Hitoshi. Going forward, they aim to establish “No Laughing” as an international entertainment IP.

>According to sources, no countries or regions have confirmed production at this time. Fujiwara Hiro, Vice President of Yoshimoto Kogyo, who supported the project by appearing on the show and providing the voice announcing the penalties, commented, “We take pride in it being one of Japan's most popular variety shows and look forward to people around the world enjoying it.”

But I immediately remembered that I had seen these same exact nose clips being advertised before at Yoshimoto events, isn't this illegal stealth marketing?
He even claims that he bought it himself and that they stop your nose from getting bigger.

Why is it illegal? Famous people and e-celebs do that on instagram all the time

https://www.dlapiper.com/en/insights/publications/2023/07/consumer-protection-in-japan-new-law-prohibits-stealth-marketing
Stealth marketing was made illegal in 2023.
Japan doesn't bother to prosecute anything though.

Happy 83rd birthday to Kato-chan.
His wife is 37 years old.

Happy birthday.
I remember when everyone said she was a gold digger, but she's the real deal and genuinely loves Kato-chan.

Finally, Macchan's glorious return on TV screen

I was watching Tokyo Oasis where she shows up as a theater attendant the lead middle-aged lady has a chat with and I didn't even recognize her, I thought she was some random 20-something actress. Granted, she was just 44 then, but still insane.

degawa is too old to be doing faceplants
>>
>>50723695
It ain't that dangerous. Many of Degawa's shows and projects on other shows where he shows physical skits ended due to his age and due to compliance and his TV appearances decreased as a result, so it's good to see him still able to do something like that on TV.
