Most of the newer songs were never his arrangements. Though the melody thensevles weren't always that good or catchy compared to his better songs. He became very hit and miss, but the EDM and dubstep arrangements didn't help.
I've made better and more catchy arrangements with the same lyrics using ai.

Link? I would like to hear it out of curiosity.
In my opinion, if I ran H!P i would fire the entire music making team and hire new talent. New producers and arrangers. H!P has been musically behind the curve for over a decade, they need to fire everyone and start over.

They fucked up the new jack swing style in『最KIYOU』. The arranger just wasnt wasnt able to pull off the new jack swing rhythm. Its totally off and weird. The groove gets fucked by the lryics vocal melody. It just doesnt work.
#1 rule for newjack swing: Never get in the way of the groove.
I redid this song in ai and it came out so much better.

I don't agree with firing everyone, I think Tsunku can still make good music. H!P is pretty much just a vehicle for that.

I agree, it's hard to guide a legacy project like this without ruining it. Particularly female fans are apparently pretty fair weather, which Modern H!P has a lot of (Rosy Chronicle fans, etc). What sort of idols are popular these days? I know of Ano and Ado, but that's about the extent of my knowledge.

I am not a super big k-pop fan but i think New Jeans was really on to something with the 90s/y2k normal down to earth girl-next-door concept. They were doing very well in Japan and getting radio air play in the west until their untimely death. Amassed a huge female and male fandom.
Now that new jeans is dead and gone, there's a huge untapped niche and demand that no current girl group Korean nor Japanese have been able to reach yet. H!P should target that vibe and niche. They weren't baddie bad bitch kpop divas, but they weren't super sugar sweet jpop fruit zipper princesses either. They were the girl next door.
Ironically, its the exact same concept in which Morning Musume was founded on. Morning Musume could pull it off, But they would really need to update their music production and update their visual styles. Current Morning Musume feels too overproduced and corporate, yet simultaneously feels cheap and amateurish. So an incompetent corporate production. Worst of both worlds. If they cant make high budget looking polished productions, then take it more lo-fi and at least make it look like its meant to look amateurish and not just an incompetent agency and production thats short on cash and production talent.
Even though it was always a carefully crafted illusion, New Jeans was successful in creating an image of just being a group of friends sharing a song and dance. Just like Morning Coffee and how Morning Musume started off as.

That's just it. New Jeans wasnt really Korean culture. Two of the girls init were born and grew up outside of Korea. One of them a hapa and Hanni wad Australian Vietnamese. Their concept appealed to everyone which is why they got so big in Japan and outside of Korea. They were the anti kpop, kpop group. Just like Morning Musume was the anti idol, idol group.

This is how you do a neo-newjack swing style applied to a girl group.

This type of groove isnt totaly alien to Hello! Project. Airi Suzuki and Marina(dancer with Airi wearing the dark purple) did a new jack swing inspired song and dance a few years back. Not quite as advanced as what New Jeans did, but its solid. I like this song and dance.

Modern Morning Musume looks like a bunch of rando OLs with a few young interns thrown in. I few years ago I used to think they look like a random classroom of japanese girls. Now its OLs or part-time jobers. Oda looks like she could be working at Starbucks. I bet she makes a good coffee.

News wise, Sakura Oda is graduating this year. One of the Utaban hosts got Metoo'd like a year ago. Mikitty and her husband were recently in the German news.

Up Front Related, Chisato Moritaka performing "Even when I become an Old Woman" at age 55, which she wrote at 20 years old. I was suprised to learn she was tangentially related to H!P (through UF), you can see her in that "Ai No Katsu" cover they did after the 2011 Tsunami.
Miki Nonoka got diagnosed with a spinal issue, so she's out for a little while. Haga Akane, Yokoyama Reina, Kitagawa Rio recently left the group.

>I can now write this, but one of the reasons I decided to step down as chairman of LINE Yahoo was (no joke) the decision to allow Hello!Project songs to be available on subscription services. As someone in the internet industry and as a fan, I wanted to see this through while I was still active.
>The nearly two years and three rounds of negotiations with the "right people" (who occasionally appear in my Hello! Project articles) were very challenging, and the release of approximately 1,400 songs all at once was unprecedented. I'd like to thank everyone at both the publisher and the PF for their hard work.
>I feel like this was my last job as a veteran producer at Yahoo!, where my mission was to "bring existing media and content holders over to this side (the Internet)," and I feel a sense of fulfillment now. After the ban was lifted, everyone looked so happy and excited. It feels like it's been a while since I've done this kind of work.
>Nowadays, music subscription services are like catalogs of songs, and unless a song is included in this, it's essentially the same as not being released, so this was really good for the group, the members, and the fans.
(Of course, if this leads to more new LINE MUSIC users, our company will also make a profit.)
>I made a promise with everyone in March of last year. At the time, I was scared, thinking "I made a promise I can't keep...", but I'd rather regret having done it than regret not having done it!
>Using the miracle of "More! Mi" and the "30th anniversary" as the cornerstones of persuasion, we engaged in Zen dialogue with the "right people" with comments like "Let's only release Morire! Mi," "No, if we're going to do it, let's release everything," "Let's release it on the 30th anniversary," "No, let's release the pre-release," "No, no, let's release the pre-pre-release," and "With the concept of "Road to the 30th," surely we can release it this year?" I was feeling a bit nervous when we were negotiating in November of last year, but now that the results are in, it's all a fond memory.
>Anyway, I'm glad I made it in time!!
>I will continue to support my favorite idols in my own way for the rest of my term and beyond.

Graduation news from Tsubaki Factory...................... it's not Ami! Mao will be graduating in the fall. Still unfortunate as she's a strong member. Maybe Runo will take on her lines.
Marine is also prepping for the future by attending university, which will cause her to miss concerts from mid-May to mid-June for teaching practice.
