You might have already tried this but I find that making sure there's decent space (>10GB) left on storage made a difference for me. The game does feel pretty clunky regardless though, which is such a shame because it's genuinely one of my favorites out of the more recent games that came out.

I'm kinda glad they didn't try and give this guy a bullshit tearjerker backstory. He was just born a petty hater and remains one.
The plot on his route makes no sense though, unless you presume Yori is actually very dumb. The reasoning for why he did the killings is so flimsy and doesn't match with how he's characterised otherwise. This is kind of true of his actions in Awayuki's route too in retrospect. The writer gives out a few motives but none of them land for me, they fit together awkwardly like they were thought of backwards because the writer wanted there to be an elaborate serial murder plot where Yori was the culprit, but one that wasn't too evil because otherwise there couldn't be a happy ending.
They try and smooth over it by going on about how Yori is just an incomprehensible guy that Hinagiku will never understand, but I don't think the writer understood why Yori did all that either.

Despite this, it's easier to write a plain person who isn't exceptionally intelligent in otome because the biggest attraction are reading about the guys only. About two years of fully immersive reading in Japanese, probably would have been earlier if I was a complete NEET.
This is just my personal opinion but I don't think Anki helps much, that tool somehow became a really damaging religion for Japanese learning over the years. You need to make strong associations with the reading material to get better at understanding and improve your speed.

After learning the very basics, many years of mostly listening comprehension only, while slacking on learning how to read. And then I locked in to do like 6 months of anki to learn how to read kanji.
If you're still at learning level but with a decent understanding of the language, I personally recommend using something like jpdb to track your known/unknown words + sentence mining, but not really wasting time with SRS. This way you can create a system where you only learn/review words as they pop up in a game and then you have proper context if you ever choose to revisit a word outside of that.
