Its nice to see konami put effort into ddr, but I cant get over how ugly world looks and that awful new announcer. At least theres alternatives

rhythm games... stagnant? ppl still play but it's nowhere as exciting as it was in 2016-2018ish, plus there seem to be way less rhythm game generalists these days with proficiency at all the games in a given r1 arcade

ddr especially since it's just like ok all the singles 18s are piffed within like 2 hours of release, while the 19s remain unchallenged. and then there's low-hanging fruit in doubles which any pump player with decent timing can make short work of, but in practice no one does bc fefemz will flag a ddr doubles 18 and get bored of the game and not play for another year

with iidx it kinda makes sense, if you look at a guy like phnix he puts ungodly amounts of hours to increase his ex score on random ryuslop 12 by like 2 out of the 5172 possible points. why do that when you could've used that time to learn the entire modern curriculum of humanity, become a multimillionaire in the process, buy a bunch of arcade cabs, and become "reasonably proficient" at all the games?

also all respect to jun for being groomed by his dad to be an overachieving beast at rhythm games and school academics, but he's like the caricature of a ww2 propaganda jap phenotype-wise and has the giga-autism that you only see in ethnic yamatos. is he mute or smth, + does he speak english?

I've tried the Dan ranks in DDR recently and my two main problems with it are that the score/full combo doesn't carry over to the actual song in your stats which is kind of dumb and also that you can't see the bpms of the songs before you start them so making it so you can adjust speed before each song feels like you just have to guess if you're sightreading
