Fairy has it pretty rough for a long time. Honestly unless you're going solo to take advantage of the speed I don't think it's really worth it. You can always throw or use magic without any downside and you have a shit ton of mana starting out, but unless you're an executioner it doesn't take much at all to take you out.
I don't think the gear restriction is actually that much of a problem for armor in the end, but for weapons it's pretty rough

everything else works as intended but now I'm having problems getting charatalk to work
some examples and working mods have a charatalk string id/idText entry that's unique to the field (example TinyMita), others just reuse the character's id (example Azalea)
in chara, some examples have it under idText (TinyMita), and some have it as the last entry of the bio string (basegame Kiria), which still links into CharaTalk and definitely works as well
but no combination has gotten this character to do any chatter

Anyway, I'd try to give advice, but if you're already reverse-engineering the example mod in the "Dialog & Drama" section of CWL's manual you're probably well on your way to solving the problem yourself. That, and I barely know anything about CWL. (Although I'd definitely use it if I wanted to write a custom NPC with dialogue. Elin's "drama" system is nightmarish to try to figure out from studying the decompilation.)

So with vampire is learning pretty much always the highest priority stat, or am I overestimating its role in increasing what you get out of blood suck?

Equipment at inflated prices. The equipment vendor is not bad since his shop level scales to fame like in Elona.

There's also a much rarer gold bar vendor that sells a bunch of decorations, material hammers, Garok's hammer, jure water, that kind of rare and funky stuff. Really expensive, guy wanted 1k gold bars for jure water.
