>Elin is specifically called out as having tons of lovers and outright stealing other people's husbands.
Where? The only thing that is described about her in the game is that she "stole" witch's husband and had few daughters. There's 0 mention of lovers and the stealing was unintentional.

Eh, I don't really consider that a Slime-specific use since you do the same thing to min/max for companions.

Elin state of the game, march issue, q and a section, question about wanting to summon jure.
TLDR, the appearance of the main gods is serious business and he wants it to be taken as such, with severe consequences for stepping out of line.
But draw all the god porn you want.
>>
>>50850225
>As a fellow Jure believer, I understand your feelings perfectly, but for precisely these reasons, I believe that gods should not be introduced into the game willy-nilly.
I feel like he's saying that he's not ready to add that mechanic yet rather than not wanting to add god summoning at all

Method 1: Look for your Lafrontier\Elin\Save\world ## to find your base's map folder here, then copy that to your other character's world folder. Easy way to find it:
>load into the base
>open texture viewer
>choose create replacement on any sprite
>right click open that sprite then open file location
Method 2: Picrel needs debug mode active to use and also bypass the new character hearthstone level restriction to open build mode. (Backup as necessary)
Only copies the base layout, elevation and items. What doesn't carry over:
>items in chests/storage units
>furniture quality (re-generated with a random tag)
>unique grave quotes
>>
>>50850242
>Perhaps the sacredness arises precisely from the fact that they are untouchable, that they are beings that can never be defiled.
>If Jure were to descend into the game, and someone were to make a blunder, a severe penalty might await, such as the complete destruction of the base and the annihilation of all its inhabitants.
TLDR he's not going to let them be summoned to be the player's playthings, which is what they all want, to fight or fuck them. If they do show up it'll be in some storyfag cutscenes or something.

Frustration sounds better from the description, but I have no idea on the actual numbers. I was thinking about something similar for if flurry or chase is the better thing to take off a cat's paw.
I think it might be time to fuck with the UI settings and actually try to pay attention to what this stuff does because so much of the word choice here seems vague. On the wiki you can usually find some major magnitudes to keep in mind at least
>>
>>50853375
Different use cases. Chase does rerolls on miss, so if your accuracy is shit to begin with it's of less use. It also gets more effect from less magnitude.
Frustration has a much slower ramp up but ignores the dodge routine when it procs, and guarantees a crit so you can use it on characters that have shit accuracy to begin with. However, forbid retaliation completely cockblocks it and that enchant is fairly common on arms and shields, and one type of shield is guaranteed to spawn with it.
Generally speaking, use chase if you are already accurate by stacking true sight and want to optimise, use frustration if you are not normally kitted out for melee.

Using a scroll of exterminate should prevent any more scarabs from ever spawning on that floor.

Slime is just a powerful race aside from the early game. Being a mage is just a bonus. The ability to customize equipment slots and feats is too great. Though i think the gap will narrow a bit once other playable races can access gene editing. I think melee could do something funny with farming legs 3 but i am not sure never commit a full melee playthrough
>>
>>50854978
If you want to just be able to freely spam the melee abilities you can worship Ehekatl and give black cat the dagger (maybe you can also do that with Yevan's blessing too. I don't know how his thing works). The major difference is bladestorm and swarm don't scale like magic does and are ultimately still tied to whatever your melee attack is. If you just focus on a single attribute and spam a spell of that attribute things will get up there pretty quickly.
The only really significant hurdle is just how uncommon some of the better genes would be, and how save scummy it can be to reach your goal
>>
What do people usually get on Slime? I'm assuming taking advantage of ether aids that use equipment slots so you don't have to worry about them and then... either Chaos Shape Lite with a bunch of arms for melee, having a bunch of hands for ranged or going all-in on min-maxing genes for magic spam?
>>
>>50855377
it's a better chaos shape. 500 hands is a meme anyway and slime can change its body part in the middle of playthrough without mod
for the gene FL 3 is pretty much core if you want to get 10 gene slots within the first two years
>>50837852
>>
>>50855377
I went for rapid cast, 6 hands, 4 arms. I don't have a collection of intonations yet so when melee is too slow i just magic spam.
I don't think rapid cast procs on talismans so once i got a full intonation collection, im ditching rapid cast for Talisman Mastery and I'm going to max out charm saving.
>>
>>50855377
Rapid Cast(stackable), Fast Learner 3, Earthquake, Chaos Arrow. 3 hands so I can use all 3 artifact staves. Blood Bond is a great defensive feat. Strength of the Earth to carry anything.
They could also go ranged with Rapid Arrow. Sagittarius and Seventh Sense can both be stolen.
I think melee is best left to Chaos Shape unless you refuse to save scum/mod, but Slime runs into the same challenges then. CS gets twice as many body parts, even if they're randomized that's a lot of enchantments.
You want to push higher level nefia and gene elixir some nice 200-400 stat genes, which FL will pay for. I'm at almost 1100 magic at level 77. Forget biting, fucking, and food.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>50855462
>>50855465
Rare species is not on the ban list, but it also reduces gene slots by an additional two, so for the vast majority of mobs it is a net loss unless you're intending to install 4 or 5 multi-slot genes. Are there even that many?

In Elin, the stamina system isn’t just there to slow you down—it’s doing a lot of quiet design work that actually makes the game function the way it’s supposed to. Removing it would break more than it seems.
First, stamina creates meaningful limits, which is essential in a sandbox. Without it, you could mine, craft, fight, and travel endlessly with no downtime. That sounds convenient, but it flattens the experience—every decision becomes “just keep going.” With stamina, you’re constantly making trade-offs: Do I push further into this dungeon or rest? Do I spend energy crafting or save it for combat? Those choices are where gameplay actually happens.
Second, it reinforces survival and roleplay systems. Elin leans heavily into simulation—eating, resting, pacing yourself. Stamina ties directly into that loop. If you remove it, food, beds, and time management all lose relevance. You’re no longer “living” in the world—you’re just optimizing actions per second.
Third, it acts as a soft progression gate. Early on, your stamina pool is small, so you’re naturally limited in how much you can do. As you improve, you can go longer and do more. That growth feels tangible. Without stamina, progression risks becoming purely numerical (damage, stats) instead of experiential (endurance, efficiency).
There’s also a risk/reward tension aspect. Running out of stamina at the wrong time—like mid-fight or deep in a cave—creates real stakes. If stamina didn’t exist, a lot of those tense moments disappear, and the game becomes safer and more predictable.
Finally, stamina prevents degenerate playstyles. In a system-heavy game like Elin, players will always find optimal loops. Without stamina, the optimal strategy often becomes repetitive grinding with no downside. Stamina forces pacing and discourages mindless exploitation.
That said, stamina systems can feel bad if they’re too restrictive or poorly tuned. The key is whether it creates interesting decisions versus just being an annoyance. In Elin, it’s mostly the former—it’s part of what makes the game feel like a world instead of a checklist.
If you’re feeling like stamina is just getting in your way, I can break down ways to manage or mitigate it so it feels less punishing.

>>50856144
Thanks grok, very cool but what's the real reason? It's obvious the stamina system is shit by design and the dev has almost certainly been asked why he's made his stamina system shit on purpose. What is his answer?

It's not really a big deal but I do think some things could stand to have stamina costs reduced. Like... some stuff makes sense because if it's not stamina gated because you could farm a ridiculous amount of money in a single day and simply nuking the sale value on a bunch of stuff would be stupid but other things feel like a chore to deal with for no good reason. Either add a decimal for stamina(nearly every action costing at least one is too much) or add some level 50+ recipes for stations that either gradually churn stuff out over time or can be used by NPCs as slave labor.
>>
>>
>>50856183
You're being disingenuous. Posters in this general are familiar with things nobody gives a shit about like why the inventory graphics look the way they do, but when there's an extremely obvious quirk in the game design you play dumb and pretend there's nothing wrong
>>50856193
I just think it's fucking stupid that a mage can fire off 100000 spells in one day no problem but you die from building a couple of tiles of footpath.
>>

>>

Mana costs are so stupid. We already get spell stocks. Why do we need to spend 2 resources to cast a spell? It's so stupid and terrible game design. Why does noa have to restrict his players with numbers and arbitrary mechanics in a video game?
...There. I can do it too.
>>
>>50856333
I wouldn't mind if spell stocks were no longer a thing it was just much more restrictive about how you learn new spells. It's clearly not "balanced" with that in mind, but what the fuck is balanced in this game?
>>
friction and push-and-pull is good game design, actually
"I should just be able to do this as much as I want, it's a video game!" yeah there's things for that, they're called CHEAT CODES. you want to CHEAT. rather, you want to cheat but don't want to be a "cheater," to absolve yourself of the negative trait of wanting everything for nothing

That's not what it means, retard
Almost every hex and debuff has an opposing stat that counters the debuff, turning it into the debuff's spell power vs resistance from the stat
Silence is opposed by will, higher will means less chance of it landing and reduced duration and effect (where effects are not binary) even when it does
>>
>>50856336
Spell stocks are another ADOM reference. I'm not particularly fond of the system, but it wasn't that bad in E+ since you could buy piles of cheap rods from magic shops and transfer their charges to spellbooks.
In Elin I'm in the fourth year of my current game and I still haven't done the story quest that unlocks spellbook duplication, mainly because I don't want Recall to point anywhere other than the mine entrance as long as my teleporters still aren't online yet. (Maybe with my next character I'll mod out the town level requirement for teleporters instead of modding spellbooks to not use up when read...)
>>
>>50856887
In practice all that spell stocks really mean is I stick to spamming arrow spells that match my domain. Then again I don't usually play characters that use magic much until establishing a little stability.

It's actually pretty fun putting people to sleep and mugging them. But some enemies resist sleep pretty well. Invisibility is a nice backup, but some can see through it. What's a reliable way to blind enemies? Also is there any other status ailments that let you rob monsters?

>what's the real reason?
the same reason that seems to plague so many rpgs. martials/melee characters can go fuck themselves.
if you aren't a caster, you're a bitch. and if you want to use spells that scale with your melee stats you can go fuck yourself because they are some of the rarest in the game.
the addition of the blade spells cements this ideology i think.
