I love how Cold War aircraft have a distinct aesthetic based on the race which built them.

They do have something to be proud of, they had pretty innovative engineering solutions, superb engine building with sleeve valves or the Napier deltic engine locomotives.
>>64893372
The early version was at least sleek and clean, the upgraded ones are absolute monstrosities with shit protruding everywhere and mismatched shapes.

Race? Isn't it more about which country?
It's basically just different flavor whites. With Americans making the most aesthetic, obviously.

lmao, the US saw this thing and said
>"yah, ill just take that, same color and everything, close as you can figure it..!"
and you got F14's and F15's

Pretty sure you are trolling, but fyi the a3j was influenced by the work done on the xf-108 rapier, which was a companion to the xb-70.

Come on Anon, we made some right pigs of aircraft, do better. Don't pick something that inherently was going to be ugly.
>>64897880
It's the ugliest of the V-bombers which makes it even more baffling as to why people fap to it.

The valiant is objectively the worst looking because of the cruciform tail and bulging cockpit
Then vulcan, again because of the bulging cockpit and upsettingly wide and blunt nose
Victor has perfect clean lines, an aggressive slant to her shoulders, and a sick tail

Everyone remembers the Vulcan and Victor, I had to search to remember the Valiant.
Though when it comes to bombers, I like them ugly/odd looking.
>>
>>64898015
From certain angles the Victor looks great, from others it looks unnatural. I think the fuselage is too smooth compared to ridges and bumps on the wings. Did later variants get fattened up a bit? Because some images I see look different.

Race is not a technical term from anthropology, it's a generic term used to refer to categories of people of varying sizes. The Europeans had a far more nuanced view of "race" before the internet came and led to the mass-export of America's distinctly color-coded approach to racial categorization.

That's a MiG-31, which first flew in 1975. The Tomcat's first flight was in 1970, the Eagle's in '72. You're thinking of the MiG-25, which first flew (as an unarmed recon plane) in 1964.

The way planes look has to do with the technology available and the constraints imposed upon the design. The technology available may stagnate over time, but a plase designed for subsonic speed will always look different from a supersonic plane, as an example.

a3j should have borrowed the bomb bay from the 101 at least, their own idea didn't really work out. Or at least use a pod beneath the plane like the B-58 or the Mirage IV.

A pretty popular aero engine in ww2, mainly on the British side, powered planes like the Typhoon, Tempest, Beaufighter, Sea Fury, Short sterling, Halifax and a buch of transporters.
I think you have the Deltic Napier engine in mind, that one powered a bunch of post war diesel locomotives and was equally insane.
