Honestly sounds like you’re already doing the safe bet. It sounds like he might be realizing you’re a little soft and he’s trying to understand you more. Doesn’t mean it’s an open invitation to explain your feelings to him but it does mean he might accept it one day. If he asks, be honest, if he’s mean about it, try to forgive him. If it gets worse and worse from there instead of better, try to get distance from him. Sounds like you have a good relationship with him despite your differences, good luck!
