I'm a transgender Electrical & Computer Engineering student at a big R1 university in upstate New York. I love being in upstate New York I've lived here my whole life but due to several factors combining all at once (and truly baffling incompetence from my parents) it seems like I might be forced to move to someplace in Texas and have to restart at another university. I've already transferred once from my old college and I thought this bigger state uni was going to be my home but my family is planning on selling the house and I don't have enough in savings to move out. I was at one point balancing, a job at a very busy mall cafe, an apartment, and full-time uni, but I quit the job to focus on my grades and my apartment rent + groceries took all of my savings.

I really do not fuck with Texas. I'm so tired of constantly getting messed around and I've considered throwing everything in the air and just accepting some boring food service job somewhere and living my life separate from my family.

i mean, as an engineering student i always just look,dress, and sound like a regular guy so I could go to Texas, in theory, i just don't want to do the whole transfer process and other BS all over again.

Coincidentally I live in a big area for trans people, there are quite a lot of them renting near me.

the deal would just be:

a) do ECE online but get a job to pay for rent and stuff (and take advantage of the good public transport network here)

b) move to Texas and do the degree somehow while saving money on living accommodation.

yeah but keep in mind i'd be essentially pushed to the limit if i stay in new york (and this is provided my family lends me money to rent here).
