Borges himself even admits English is superior to Spanish. most of what Spain has been doing for last several centuries is recover from Muslim conquest and the effects of a brutal civil war. native culture can't grow where there is always contingencies based on existential struggles for mere survival.

Stop looking for essays about politics and current events. Theology, mathematics or poetry would be better, more worthwhile ways to spend your time.
