Not that strange. A lot of French pacifists became collaborationists. Fascism (as a phenomenon) had a huge amount of ideological diversity. For many it represented a revolt against the old order. The nonconformists and avant-garde of the 1920s were another bloc that were sympathetic

All these interventions, wars, regime changes,backing proxy groups etc have been total disaster. Look how countries like Iraq,Libya or Syria turned out. And these Intervention and wars have created a huge number of refugees, who went to Europe,and these refugees are creating many problems in Europe. If the iran war becomes bigger,it will create refugees the same way other wars in middle east did.
