But she didn't though, the animation is just her having a headcanon about ending up with shinji and then just rejects it in the end. Anno is a hack, everyone is this fanbase is a retard, this series is laughable at this point and it's amazing to think they will continue to milk it for decades to come.

Yeah, she rejects it because she says she will achieve it with her own power in the real world.

After the final curtain of today's Evangelion special screening, director Anno took the stage and mentioned that, taking into account everyone's reactions on SNS as well, he is coordinating with relevant parties to somehow make it possible to release, in some form, content from this 30 year festival with as much included as possible, while clearing up the rights issues as much as feasible. Details are scheduled to be announced at a later date.

Good to know Anno agrees with literally everyone else's interpretation that Asuka would be super prickly with Kaworu
I like the short but even as an Asushin fan I don't feel like I can say "we won", all it confirms is that Asuka is going to try and make it happen with Shinji. The bigger problem was always Shinji having indecisive main character syndrome. Now, granted, post-EoE, Kaworu and Rei are decisively out of the way, thinning out the competition significantly.

>The short starts with Asuka saying she wants an alternate ending because hers is terrible. She asks for something clear, emotional, something that looks happy.
>The other Asuka and her confirm they're from parallel universes, and she shows her a bunch of strange worlds and she rejects all of them. Until she gets to a world without Eva, and Shinji appears on the platform.
>Shinji offers her to come with him.
>She sees a vision of their future together: a date, marriage, a red-haired daughter. And she smiles. She's happy to see it. And then she says no. Because she's done relying on dreams. Because she wants to find happiness with her own strength in reality. Because that calm, gentle world isn't where she belongs, she has "a place to protect" (clearly, the original universe, where she later proclaims herself as Asuka Soryu, pilot of Eva Unit-02, ready to live in the world after everything concludes (the beach in EoE)
>in conclusion, she changes her mind, she knows her timeline is terrible, but it's still HER timeline, and she wants to protect it and take care of it to try to build a happy ending
>Komm, süsser Tod
>She reclaims herself by calling herself Asuka Soryu, the one from Eva Unit-02, basically accepting her own timeline and rejecting the others.
>She returns to her world, to the disaster, to the pain. She accepts her ending

So in the end she choses to stay true to herself rather than live a happy lie. My girl never disappoints. Best grill then, best grill now, best grill ever. She always wins, no matter the outcome, because she never betrays herself.
