I do prefer to give my ponies more show like asses but a little more plump and round shaped so keep that in mind. for the style of legs you draw what i did is I made them slightly less show styled and semi realistic in the hock. I'd recommend either studying the show to mimic the show style or studying artists who do legs in a stylized semi realistic way. the booty hole was a bit too big in relation to the ass so I shrunk it slightly, raised the cock and balls slightly to match the new ass height. edited the shoulder slightly too, and enlarged the dock. I'd personally recommend a bigger dock but that's more of a taste thing than anything. hope this helps

i'm maybe not the best person to answer this question because i rarely ever draw and when i do, it is mainly for my own enjoyment, so i don't take it too seriously. but i think arousal to me is similar to feeling immensely inspired if not more powerful, same goes for writing too.
it's much more likely for me to finish creating something if im horny than when im looking at things critically and fussing over every detail, as a result my lines are usually more confident and quick because i just want it to be done so i can use it for it's intended purpose

hell yeah np brother. really as long as the ass isn't way bigger than the head or too disproportional to the body you're all good. I usually measure out my proportions using circles a rough measure with the head being the largest circle, followed by the ass, with the chest being the smallest to get a bean shape for pony bodies.

The brush he uses for his stuff is honestly pretty great, I wish I could find it somewhere, it definitely seems to be something beyond default (and probably not even a krita brush)
The chalk brush I'm using is pretty fun though. I forgot how nice it drew after mostly using a few different ink brushes. Feels like consistency between brushes is a little awkward as some just don't click as better as others.

There are some things I feel 'decent' at but my cardinal sin has always been sticking to my comfort zone too much. Branching out and committing to actual poses and ideas that would take more effort than a cute mare standing around is something I'm still working on. It's a pose that's further along the range of motion than one usually sees, which is very cool. I really like it.
As far as I can tell, it totally does make sense and is logical. But my brain did make me double take and ask where and how the lowermost section of her background-most leg emerged from at that angle; so maybe that's what you are feeling as well?
I can't even properly describe or put my finger on what I mean. I shoddily sketched it out and that looks fine to me as well.
And again: I really like the pose; It's very seductively splayed and energetic, like >>43061167 said.

And, speaking of the silhouette; I must admit that from seeing just the thumbnail I initially thought it was a seapony.

First effort at pony art. It's alright, but I have a few self-criticisms to begin with. I freehand all my drawings from reference pictures and used an ink pen so I couldn't backtrack if it's ass.

1. head proportions feel a bit too big
2. I feel like I'm not really emphasizing the pony enough in this drawing with a pose that's too human-like
3. I would like to make the pony's eyes, eyelashes, and face overall sleeker akin to the >>43061116

The game is confirmed to be getting official mod support and both Edmund and Tyler seem like the type that would provide documentation ln how to add in custom cat appearance assets so I don't doubt it'll be possible. Though I guess to stick with the pet theming I'd first want to see all the mane 6's pets added first (because I want to see Gummi be one of my roided out butchers that hits for over 30 damage multiple times per turn)

This sketch was sort of a "color test check" for an animation that fell to the wayside.
Candy Mane and Junebug have fairly similar coat tones, so I wanted to make sure they don't just completely blend into one another.

Let's say, hypothetically, I'm making an horse dating sim visual novel thing. I would like to draw my little horsies in a way that they look... "normal"

I don't know, I feel like every time I try to draw my characters in a sort of front facing position, I just hate it. Anyone here know a pose that'd look natural for the visual novel aesthetic?

can you show an example of your rendition of a front facing pose? those are tricky because of the big ass eyes and the need to imply a snoot
the pdf in the op has lots of different examples but standard standing, face in 3/4 would be a safe bet, just watch a couple of episodes and you can take lots of screenshots of those.
often when ponies talk to each other they will stand around and sometimes move one of their hooves up or down, sitting poses let you draw the ponies gesticulating and moving their forelegs in a more expressive way so I guess you could switch those around as to not bore the player with static, stiff ponies
I feel like mastering facial expressions would be the most important part and I suck at those so I can't really help you here

I think it looks good! I really dig the brush lending texture to the hair!
I struggle with coming up with or adapting non-show manestyles, as well as giving manes proper volume. Even when sketching a mane from reference they tend to end up looking sort of flat and deflated.
And shading manedos is indeed a challenge, since they are a bunch of different shapes and volumes that are arranged in different depths and layers to each other, and are in some ways independent of the head shape while still having to consider and reflect the shape of the head beneath. A real headache.
