I don't really have a recipe, I just winged it. But I pretty much sliced and sauted few apples in butter until soft, adding some honey and thyme while cooking them. At the same time I toasted the bread and on another pan I also melted a few slices of cheese. And then I just layered the cheese on the toast and topped it with the apples. And lastly just finished it with some more thyme and a little black pepper.

Well, I wanted to try my hand at baking an apple pie, despite not being the best baker, the result is that I've burnt myself using 3 different heat sources, the pie became half mush half burnt mess, I tried caramelizing some apples to put on top of a toast so the plate wouldn't look depressing and burnt myself a 4th time, and I'd do it all over again for her

Nice, looks like a solid apple crumble. Keep at it and try some baking or cooking once in a while, I do it far too little because it takes so much time and autism especially a new recipe that has a good chance of failing but once you get the hang of it and get a decent result it's quite nice. I don't know what kind of apple pie you attempted but I'd recommend the next time you try basic bitch apple slices on top of a simple dough, that should be a good starting point. I'd say shortcrust because you really just need flour, butter, sugar, and your hands, then the apple slices on top. Yeast dough would be nicer especially with the wet apple, but yeast takes extra effort and is a bit annoying because you can fuck it up, so I'd do that once you've had some successes (pro-tip: use dry yeast powder so you don't need to do the stupid pre-mixing; use your oven at ~30 °C for the leavening, guaranteed results). Another great thing about shortcrust is you can take the same or very similar mixture ratios and then just streusel it on top of any cake for an instant easy topping.
Good luck, I hope next year you've outdone my lazy ass and can show off a great cake.

The dinner meal wasn't too special, just one of my usual dishes of broccoli alfredo with salad. For dessert, we made a Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte, a traditional German cake with a lot of chocolate, cherries, and a noteworthy amount of alcohol in it. Okay, this is epic. Except it actually tasted like shit because the cherries I got taste like fucking lettuce, and as it turns out, the cherries are supposed to contribute most of the flavor of the cake. But hey, at least it looks pretty good considering I have almost no experience baking and her knowledge is pretty hard limited by what I can do. She's really the dessert anyways.
