Calling all autists!
We need (You) to help design new marescots for /mlptf2/!
We need two ponies, a red and blu mare! Feel free to submit just one or a paired design featuring two OCs!
From the submissions, two mares will be chosen by vote in the near future (not finalized yet).
Visual design is a requirement obviously, but feel free to also tell us their likes/dislikes, what they do, how they feel about the other team, their gimmick, or just anything you want everyone to know about them!
Paired OC designs will be evaluated as a pair (i.e., if you submit twins, we will not separate them. Either they win and both get chosen as the final OCs or they lose and neither of them are chosen).
Template mares included so even those of us less artistically inclined can participate! Just add the details necessary like a mane, tail, outfit and accessories, and your mare is ready for evaluation!
As a prize for the mares in question, the winning OCs will be redrawn! We already have one artist who has volunteered and promised to draw the winners, and we're looking for more! Any other artists intending to draw the winners, please make yourselves known!

The reward doesn't make any sense. Why would someone who can draw an entry want someone else to draw OC(s) that isn't even going to be theirs in the end? Art of the winners is likely going to be made in the future anyway reward or not. The prize should be in keys or items, those are more widely accepted and make better incentive for people to enter.

it can also be replenished by picking up any health pack while you have full hp, just like the modern version. this is still 10x harder to do than just waiting 30 seconds though. the result is a sandvich that's a straight upgrade to both the modern sandvich, and second banana if you're using exclusively using it selfishly, and punishes you extremely harshly for using it to support you team at all. i absolutely hate it.

so is what's strong. the sandvich, dalokohs, atomizer, phlog, gru, and claidheamh mor all have arguments to be made over which version is stronger just to name a few, and there's definitely more. but the reverts are definitely chosen with the intent of picking the strongest versions of weapons, even if it's sometimes debatable.

Alright here we go.
Introducing Red Alert and Blueprint. As competing leaders trying to renovate Equestria, these two mares are sworn enemies (or lovers, or both).
One would think with a cutie mark like that, she would be very loud and abrasive, but she's actually quite guarded with her feelings. She's not emotionless, she smiles and frowns just like any other pony, but you always get the feeling she's hiding something. She's also very slow to trust, keeping a professional distance while simultaneously questioning what sort of ulterior motives you have. But she's still good at what she does, and you can always depend on her so long as she can depend on you. Very few can compare with just how resilient she is, physically and emotionally. Not a lot can knock her down, and even less can keep her there. Perhaps with enough time, she'll let her guard down around you and you'll get to see what she's really like.
Blueprint is smart, and she'll let you know it, but unlike some other ponies, she's not just bragging, and has proven time and time again her plans work. It's hard to argue with results, after all. She can be pretty single-minded, focused on one goal and working tirelessly until that goal is achieved, and ignoring other details so long as she gets what she wants. It sometimes makes her come across as cold-hearted, but she doesn't mean to be, she just knows what needs to be done. Her quick wit means she always has a plan, and her quicker mouth means she'd just love to tell you all about how perfect it is. As passionate and curious as she is smart, she wants to know what you can do to help her out. So long as you make yourself useful, you'll be in good hooves with her.
These two constantly butt heads. Red Alert dislikes Blueprint's tendency to use and discard others and Blueprint can't stand how secretive Red Alert gets. Yet despite their differences, they're more alike than they realize, chalk it up to their ever-growing drive to prove themselves. And they always seem to cross paths no matter what they try to do.
I tried add details like how their color schemes are just the TF2 paints (Red Alert's coat is Cream Spirit, Blueprint's coat is Waterlogged Lab Coat. Red Alert's mane is Dark Salmon Injustice and Team Spirit, Blueprint's mane is 216-190-216 and Team Spirit, ect.), how they have an R and B in their respective back manes, Red Alert's tail is reminiscent of a fuse like in RED's logo, Blueprint has 5 freckles to represent everypony's favorite game mode, and so on.

no, it means every affected weapon has a significantly higher effective range than intended. i'd wager the reason you feel like the random spread is screwing you over isn't that you're just getting bad pellet rng, but because you're using shotguns in ranges that are effective with the tighter spread you're used to, but not with the looser spread that the weapons were designed with. the actual random part of random bullet spread is actually really minor compared to the straight up effective range buff fixed bullet spread grants. using a plugin with better fixed bullet spread would probably feel a lot more like randon bullet spread than with vanilla fixed bullet spread.

I don't know what to tell you man, I just want the weapon to have some consistency, if you are not using shotguns often its not super noticeable but when you are using them all the time it adds up, every life you'll have at least one encounter where a shot will deal far less damage than you were expecting and sure sometimes maybe that is down to the player's aim, but I guarantee It's not always, sometimes you just get fucked over.
Even if the shotgun's effective range does increase as a side effect of enabling fixed bullet spread would that really make it more oppressive than all of the already good weapons in the game? Does it really change the game so much that the shotgun now becomes "meta" or better than any primary weapon in the game? I don't think so.
If the compromise is to use a plugin that accounts for this then I'm all for it but if that plugin doesn't exist I would just prefer we had default fixed bullet spread.

The exact same thing happens with fixed spread. It's just "predictable" post-mortem which makes you feel good. But in the heat of a game you WILL miss pellets that would've hit with random spread on.
Random spread on: aiming center mass is always the best because on average that's where the most pellets will hit
Fixed spread on: best aim fluctuates between center and off-center depending on the situation, which is impossible for a human to account for on the fly
tl;dr random spread is ironically less random than fixed spread and I'm angry that compfags made everyone think it's the opposite.

Not at all. Your picture shows that sometimes with fixed spread you should be aiming slightly off-center, but that doesn't mean it's random, and in theory if you were superhuman with perfect aim you'd be able to always maximise your damage. Of course nobody is that superhuman but this means that generally you can almost never intentionally switch between targeting center mass vs. the left hip, so it's not like "you get fucked over for perfect aim". If you really had perfect aim you'd have aimed for the left hip.
Random spread will hit near center mass "on average" but that's the entire thing about randomness, it's always average on average (by definition). But you will randomly get fucked over where maybe you aimed center mass and all the pellets went around, or you aimed slightly too far left and all the pellets went towards the left so you hit nothing, etc.

You just restated my argument. In both cases of spread vs no spread you will get fucked over randomly. In one case you get fucked because rng decided you will miss, in another case you get fucked randomly because in your specific scenario you had to slightly miss to maximize your damage, which a human isn't able to process and anticipate on the fly.
So now we have to decide which poison we want to ingest. In the case of spread off we have the additional problem of shotgun weapons becoming much more lethal at long ranges than Valve intended, so in my opinion we should just take random spread. I don't see what the big deal is when we have random crits on already which are much more egregious in their ability to swing a fight's outcome.

the problem is with the former, there is nothing you can do to predict how your pellets will randomly fall.
I understand that you think that both are equal because they both lead to the same result except they are not because in one scenario i get annoyed and in the other scenario i go "damn i should've aimed better".
also i think you massively under estimate sub-conscious game sense and muscle memory, its not that you are literally making micro adjustments deliberately on the fly to move your crosshair 1 pixel to the right, but you do take in that kind of refinement on a sub-conscious level.
ALSO also i think the amount you get fucked over with random bullet spread is somewhat higher than the amount you get fucked over with fixed bullet spread due to the factors we discussed(knowing to not aim centre mass to hit more pellets).

I was basically going to say what the other anon said, that if YOU miss it's not random it's a skill issue. Even if not missing would require superhuman skill, it's still your fault.
For example a human will never match an aimbot at sniper precision, but when you miss an extremely tricky headshot it's not because of "RNG". And if the sniper rifle had random spread it would not be in any way more fair or fun.
Another example is airshots as soldier. If you haven't trained them they feel almost RNG. Once you get good it's not that bad but there are some tricky shots where it's almost entirely RNG. However not a single soldier I have ever seen would say that the beggar's bazooka is more fair or more consistent at landing airshots, or that it's even remotely equal or comparable: the beggar's deviation makes it pure RNG, while landing an airshot with a normal rocket launcher is pure skill and if you miss you just need to get better.

And this shouldn't be the case, a melee only subclass that ditches the almighty sticky launcher, thus being objetively underpowered compared to a regular demoman, getting his movement, his only tool to get kills, impaired pretty much renders him useless on a 1vs1 situation, not mentioning team fights, which he struggles even more.
It's more notorious against explosive damage, the thing that your shield is supposed to mitigate and, in paper, should let you win fights against explosive classes, like Soldier, in reality it does barely to nothing in a 1vs1, and if you win it's more due the Soldier itself screwing up rather than you out-skilling him. And not to mention Pyro.
If you want to counter a demoknight, pump his face full of bullets, stay with your team, and abuse terrain so he does not get a straight line to chop your head off, remenber that he's commiting his life and his entire kit to that kill whereas you should have more options and be less commited than him, stay with your team, do not isolate yourself, land your shoots. Stay near a heavy, scout, sentry or a competent sniper.
Truth is, if you're not a heavy, a good scout or have a sentry by your side, Demoknight SHOULD win the engagement because he pretty much plays like an ambusher and flanker, like a Scout or Pyro does. But airblast and soldier clicking feet renders him a non-issue.
That's why giving him an airblast/knockback resistance would not render him OP, it would render him a functional subclass with tradeoffs, instead of a discount spy that preys on victims that can't fight back. Which incredibly fucking LAME.Man this makes me nostalgic

Ghost what you don't understand is that when you're fighting a soldier with the charge n targe equipped you're not supposed to charge him and try to 1v1. That's dumb. You're already majorly screwing him over if you stay in midrange and just look threatening, because his rockets will do 30 damage to you and they take a long time to reload, making him extremely vulnerable. A soldier in that position feels stressed because he has to choose between shooting a better target without extreme damage resistance while waiting for you to make a move to resolve the encounter. If you charge him you're making it easy for him because he no longer has a choice, the correct move is then to shoot and kill you.
The correct move in an encounter like this for you is to not charge and look threatening, tanking the damage for your team should the soldier decide to shoot you, then charging him and killing him if he decides to instead use his clip on your teammates.

Demoknight is fun outside trimps, I enjoy on nailing the perfect turning on a charge to decapitate someone, destroying level 3 sentries with just a sword, predicting my opponent's movement and the mind plays. Charging past an entire team just to pick off a Medic or an annoying sniper
My favorite part, besides trimping, is doing something I call "Wall riding" to give me sharper turn angles and come out of the nowhere. For example, on Marewater, as RED, after BLU captures the first point they often take cover around the corner, I will just charge diagonally facing a wall and I'd just peek out the end of the wall swinging a crit sword with no time for the enemy to react.
As BLU on the last point, I'd charge diagonally facing the wall to get a very sharp angle and then turn to get the jump on any RED sniper hanging nearby the upper side spawn door.
Demoknight is fun and dealing with CC is not at all.

In reality, once the Soldier realizes I'm just baiting him to waste his rockets, he still start shooting one and then reload 1 by 1, forcing me to charge in a bad position or to disengage. Not to mention he can simply just random crit me. Or pull a shotgun. Or simply rocket jump away.
The only way is to charge him when he's not looking or reloading, and pray he panicks and splashes him to death.

The only moment in which you get to reliably frontline as Demoknight is when you are getting actively pocketed with 4 heads as a Targeknight, being tanky and fast enough to dart around the battlefield, but otherwise most of times you're better off roaming the field for isolated targets. Not really I particurally enjoy but better than nothing.

Fun fact: their eyes are not gouged out because of any explosive accident, but because King Sombra himself found a way to steal their eyeballs and possess them with his fellow hell-demons.
Montaneigh residents Blue Falcon and Red Hindleg have always been fascinated by all things military, even at the cost of academic success or knowledge of what lead in tap water does to one's body. They tried joining every branch of Equestria's military to fight in the war to topple King Sombra, only to find out that the recruiting drives have all stopped not too long after they began because the war had already ended, so they bought their own tickets to the Crystal Empire and began killing Sombra's remaining supporters. Or at least people they THOUGHT were Sombra's remaining supporters. They were then awarded with various medals and accolades -- that they, themselves, made up. In their unicorn armies, you clomp your hooves when superior officers address you, but they will each trot into the forest and pick each and every one of those who serve under them arrangements of flowers... and they will be lovely. Oh, and they have also both previously had Discord as roommates.

Hey ponies, heads up. I've made changes to the server that force your client to cache all our pony models immediately on connection. Good news is - this should resolve any and all issues we've had with pony eyes being wonky and missing their textures. You no longer need to load a mare map first to make them work. Bad news is - it's a big download the first time you connect to the server. Without downloading the files manually, you're looking at a 5-10 minute download. The mares are big. If you're unhappy with that I've prepared a zip with all the files inside. Here: https://u.pone.rs/tovikdwp.7z Extract the contents of the archive exactly as they are to your tf/download folder. In another news, we've sadly lost all of our SpawnPony configs that allowed ponies to spawn on non-mare maps such as pl_pier and pl_barnblitz. I'm planning to rectify that soon and create new configs from scratch, but it's a lot of work. Hey ponies, I have added the ability for any user to change gamemodes whenever they want without requiring janny intervention. All you have to do is type the required command into chat.
Currently available gamemodes:
Deathrun (!votedeathrun)
Surf (!votesurf)
MvM (!votemvm)
Dodgeball (!votedodgeball)
You can change back to normal TF2 at any time by using the !votenormal command. The vote is configured to pass if 50% of currently connected players vote yes. I have also made it so that on gamemode change a completely random map is chosen from the available maps to ensure maximum variety.
I hope this helps seed the server by letting smaller amounts of players find something fun to do. So, next time the server is on 0 players but you feel like playing don't be afraid to hop on, switch to surf and do some surfing. It's now also possible for anyone in the group chat to ping @all to help entice more players in and alert them that you're looking to game, but please don't overuse this or Melodic will get mad and remove it.
In other news I think I have managed to compress the required pony downloads to join the server by 90%, hopefully it works.
If you'd like to see other gamemodes on the server don't hesitate to ask.

Oh no, I didnt. When I was working on my hoi4 mod I did use grok to basically just lightly photoshop some old gen 1 images of megan and gen 1 ponies for focus icons. Nothing major, just stuff like 'dress this pony as a blacksmith' or 'close this ponies mouth' I went back and grabbed this image from there when I got my new pc, but the image itself is ripped straight from gen 1. the server should've stayed as 32 players since the last server, even that one didnt reliably run on 32+ players. the 64+ player gimmick is old and needs to be dropped already. it makes the server only enjoyable as chat room instead of an actually playable video game server as it was intended to be. and on higher ping it makes it even worse. if someone missed their chance to log on before the player limit was reached, that's their fault for not joining earlier.

The issue is that with this server, the game seems to stutter and it becomes impossible to predict player model behavior. This can lead to seemingly dying or missing shots for no reason.
