IIRC they got one cease and desist, original studio completely shelved all pony work and didn't open source it (fuck them), so the only relic left is just some demo gameplay videos. Then the original studio got bought out by another studio and we have the horror that is current state "them's fighting herds".
I don't know if the devs stopped because they decided to be mega-retarded and have their contact information or legal names associated with their work. When they could've easily just went anonymous, and the moment hasbro sends a DMCA, they just throw the open sourced work out on the board and people can continue, learn from it, or use it however they want.
