MCR fucking sucks. I've tried so hard to them and couldn't get very far.
I'll take PATD, I Am Ghost and even the goddamn /b/lack veil /b/rides
Heck, even 30 seconds to another leto flop movie is acceptable... before they went full lady gaga, of course
Fuck it, bring nickelback ticklescratcher

MCR is awesome, and they utterly mog the Beatles, along with every other 20th century band.

When this album was new I remember watching the episode of Futurama where Fry has a flashback of putting the Breakfast Club soundtrack in a time capsule and saying "I can't wait until I'm old enough to feel ways about stuff" and at the time I thought of 3 Cheers and man, I sure am old enough to feel ways about stuff at this point

Silverstein's Discovering The Waterfront, is an underrated masterpiece, the very pinnacle of "mall screamo/easycore" with some wacky time signatures, catchy breakdowns and choruses. Their first 2 albums, + a shipwreck in the sand, This Is How The Wind shifts are a staple of scene.

The album that took alternative rock and emo, and made something that could be fun, yet taken seriously. Deja Entendu was an amazing album that put an alt-rock spin that pushed pop-punk/emo/post-hardcore to it's artistic limits.

One of the most influential metalcore albums. Im not sure how Underoath did it, but they managed to influence metalcore, post hardcore, and emo in one album. Listen to some new Bring Me The Horizon after this album and tell me you don't hear any parallels. They're Only Chasing Safety is filled back to back with bangers because of how effortlessly they are able to produce heavy catchy songs.
The riffs are tight and iconic, the vocals are amazing, and the breakdowns are awesome. The synths add such a nice touch to the album, elevating songs when they're utilized. Some of the best choruses to ever come out of post hardcore/metalcore are in these albums. Immediately as the first track comes on, you know you're listening to a banger. It immediately sets the tone for the album, its chaotic, but catchy. Its like a more aggressive version of Pierce The Veil, with choruses that are just as good.

Collide With The Sky is beautifully paced and has unique sound changes that keeps the record unique and exciting. I've listened to this album at least 100 times and im yet to get bored of it. The first half of this album is filled with the classic heavier style of post hardcore. Hell Above through Bulls In The Bronx are all classic warped tour songs that are all heavy and stand out from each other. While the B-sides are less heavy, they are still just as good to listen to. Its nice how after the exciting heavy songs the band takes a step back and provides the listener with sad, slower songs to shift the mood. Even the less heavy songs are just as good, if not sometimes better than the heavy songs on this record. Each band member definitely shines in their own right in this record. the dichotomy between songs like King For A Day and Hold On Till May show off how the band is able to pull off writing in different styles.
CWTS is definitely a must hear if you're into the emo subculture. The record feels like an emotional journey that many bands wouldn't take you on. The record starts off with a very haunting intro track that breaks into Hell Above, which is a very exciting post-hardcore track that has everything you need in it. A catchy chorus, a simple but effective breakdown, and heavy verses. You can really tell a lot of care was put into each of the individual songs to sound unique from another, and this care reflects in each of the songs lyrics. Each song has a unique subject where its obvious the songs werent written like a copy and paste break up or angry song, each song covers unique personal topics like cancer, neglect, alcohol abuse and relationship issues. Props and Mayhem, Im Low On Gas, Hold On Till May are such satisfying ends to the records journey. The songs slow the album down and shift the focus to a more emotional atmosphere which gives the record a satisfying ending.

This is my favorite record by Paramore. It has some of Paramore's best vocals, and instrumentals. Hayley Williams is a very talented vocalist, and she shows off her range in this album. The album explores a wide array of emotions, giving the album life. We have songs like Playing God and Ignorance, where Hayley is angry about others and the patronization she faces as a woman. All I Wanted and Only Exception are beautiful sad songs that explore the struggles she has with finding love. And her lyrics are amazing, they perfectly encapsulate issues many people face and overcome throughout their lives. Her voice is very powerful, which allows for the lyrics to really resonate and display the emotions she wants to make you feel.

“Sowing Season” opens the album with a striking loud-soft dynamic, beginning quietly before exploding into full volume, immediately showcasing the band’s emotional intensity. “Millstone” follows with a more subdued yet tense atmosphere, driven by dramatic drums and depressive instrumentation, and transitions seamlessly from the opener.
“Jesus Christ” is a slow-burning, introspective track centered on spiritual anxiety, guilt, and fear of judgment. “Degausser” shifts into a melodically darker, immersive experience that feels cold and overwhelming in tone.
“Limousine” stands as the emotional centerpiece. Inspired by a real-life death in a drunk-driving accident, unfolds narratively from multiple perspectives: the grieving mother, the remorseful driver pleading for forgiveness, and a harsh response from Jesus. Its gradual instrumental build culminates in a devastating climax that merges grief, guilt, and existential anguish.
“You Won’t Know” sustains the album’s intensity, exploring fear of death from the perspective of the pain it leaves behind. “Welcome to Bangkok,” though mostly instrumental, delivers a powerful and essential surge of energy. “Not the Sun” and “Archers” provide more energetic, anthemic moments while maintaining the album’s melancholic core.
“Luca” creates a false sense of calm before erupting into a startling, climax, a britpop sounding track. “Untitled” offers a gentle cooldown before “Archers” transitions in with surprising cohesion.
The album closes with “Handcuffs,” a restrained, cello-driven finale that builds emotionally without becoming explosive. Its subdued climax feels like a final cry of exhaustion and reflection, tying together the album’s themes of guilt, grief, turmoil into a haunting conclusion.
Overall, the album is a deeply emotional, cohesive work defined by dynamic shifts, intense storytelling, and exploration of inner conflict.

You suck. true, the sheer amount of MCR posts/mentions can get tiring and annoying, but that doesn't affect the music itself. MCR is widely recognized as one, if nor "the" best and most important act in the whole scene/emo genre.

Never seen any of these interviews, it's just very obvious from listening to the music. Boy Brushed Red it's literally Your New Aesthetic but with screaming parts. I noticed this literally the first time I heard the album decades ago. I forget what song but there's also a song where they copy the distorted double drum thing from the end of Lucky Denver Mint. One of the songs' intros (I think the last song on the album?) is also ripped right from 12.23.95.

Seems like the band themselves admit they ripped off Jimmy Eat World so I think my "opinion" is actually proven be 100% correct. Listen to more music, maybe you could have noticed these similarities yourself without needing to be spoonfed by an interview.

Nah, i think he's pretty good. 2000's Emo often tows the line between comically over-the-top vs boring 2000's tenager party songs. Gerard's singing lands him firmly in the first.
I am ghost's vocals at least keep them from going all the way to cutting-yourself-in-a-bathroom. Even though the lyrics are cheesy as fuck, at least it's fun because of that mismatch, i.e. he doesn't sing like he just found out his dog died.
Have you ever seen how atrocious Gerard's live performances are? It's almost buckethead level of incompetence. He can't stop fucking moving, it's almost like he mixed powders of adderall, cocaine and coffee, snorted it all up and said: alright boys, let's rock!
No.

>>
>>
>>
>>
>>129543959
idk what the anon is referring to.
i've seen buckethead twice at very different points (2009, 2018) and he was pretty much rock solid the whole time. he played to a backing track both times though which was kinda lame. i believe he's touring with a drummer these days tho.

the look in his eye, you just KNOW they banged
bert mccracken is known to be THE most hung guy in music, possibly one of the biggest in the world. his cock has been described as "like an evian bottle", with gargantual thickness that would rival shane diesel and shorty mac. im estimating his size to be at least 8.5" bone pressed, with OVER 7" of girth. he would have absolutely destroyed gerard's boipussy.
they would have spent hours and hours on foreplay, getting gerard prepared enough just so he can take it. i can just imagine him begging for it, with bert barely able to force it past the knob, and gerard moaning and squirming, demanding him to force it in deeper. he would have orgasm'd within seconds of taking the entire length, being filled and stretched right up to his appendix... the orgasm would have been powerful, with his bussy muscles clamping down on bert's throbbing monstrosity, his whole body quivering in euphoria..
i bet he still masturbates to the memory of it

Imagine, if you will, deconstructed scene music. (Or anti-scene music?)
What would you know? It’s better than literally everything posted in this thread
>>
>>
>>
>>129538901
I'm not okay was like my favorite song in 2005 but I had to force myself to listen to an actual MCR album. Scene kids in my area liked post hardcore bands and deathcore and things like Brokencyde and NeverShoutNever and Bring Me The Horizon was the most popular band. Being open minded was a very big thing like if a band was likely to be called a poser band by a "serious HxC" person scene kids would usually like it.
>>
>>

I really want to talk about TPK, but there's nowhere to do so because so little people have actually heard it due to links getting struck down so quickly (and also because most other MCR fans are lame)

Scene kids are the corniest faggots in the world. People who never grew out of their middle schooler hot topic phase and can't survive in the world without clinging to some gay manufactured sub culture to feel like they belong. Hipsters and scene kids aren't much different.
