To be fair most metalheads are chill as fuck, both with outsiders and around each other. The problems you’re seeing are from industry plants trying to say they have a place in the hall. That discussion thread is because of fucking Poppy being sad that we don’t consider her metal. But it’s the same with all these other modern acts that are trying to “broaden the horizons on what could be considered metal” like Sleep Token and modern Ghost.

It’s the same old tired “metalheads are mean and stupid” because of gatekeeping. Certain bands can’t cut it as pop acts so they retreat to metal so they can be a big fish in a small pond radio wise. Then they cry when we don’t want them at our festivals and in our scene and all the traditional journalism and pr media runs to their defence because they’re counting on these pop metal acts to stay relevant.

It’s like a clubhouse, where the dumb girl from across the street barges in and demands to be part of the club, and your parents get mad at you when you want her removed to demand you play nice.
