"Don't make me tap the sign" edition
Howdy! /cmg/ is THE thread for discussing and sharing country music, bluegrass, country-folk, country rock, etc. All country is welcome, new and old, mainstream and indie, as long as it's good!

Your Last.fm listening charts are highly encouraged!
Feel free to drop any recommendations below, no matter the subgenre (but please do attach subgenres to it!). I am in the long and intermittent process of compiling updated recommendation charts, so your contributions will be very appreciated.

The last country album I listened to was "Electricity" by Jimmy Murphy
He recorded singles for various labels throughout the 50's and 60's, but didn't make a studio album until 1978. His voice has a Tom T. Hallish quality, but his musical approach has more in common with bluegrass, gospel, and country blues.

I feel like Merle (and the strangers) started off best in the 60s and, while still good, the quality of albums starts to slide as we get through the 70s.
My absolute favourite merle song (written by Roger Miller): https://youtu.be/Mp_7qiU4qfg
