I started playing drums late but got pretty good at it. Guitar is still my first love but I can't disagree with you. Drummers make or break songs based purely on whether the drummer likes them or not. If you play me a riff and I think it's shit, I won't try to make it work. If I like it, I'll go out of my way to enhance it. People who only play guitar have no idea how this whole process works and think it's all on them.
