Applications for jobless aid for the week ending Jan. 31 rose by 22,000 to 231,000 from the previous week, the Labor Department reported Thursday. That’s significantly more than the 211,000 new applications that analysts surveyed by the data firm FactSet had forecast.
Applications for unemployment benefits are seen as representative of U.S. layoffs and are close to a real-time indicator of the health of the job market.
A number of high-profile companies have announced job cuts in the past year, including UPS, Amazon and Dow just last week.
Mounting layoff announcements in the past year, combined with the government’s own sluggish labor market reports, has left Americans increasingly pessimistic about the economy.
Last month, the government reported that hiring remained subdued in December, capping a year of weak employment gains that have frustrated job seekers. Employers added just 50,000 jobs last month, nearly unchanged from a downwardly revised figure of 56,000 in November, according to the Labor Department.
The 2025 numbers represent the smallest annual job gains since the COVID-19 pandemic decimated the job market in 2020. Outside of recessions, it’s the slimmest annual increase since 2003.
The Labor Department also recently reported that businesses posted far fewer jobs in November than the previous month, a sign that employers aren’t yet ramping up hiring.

Not really. Even Fox News admits that grocery prices continue to rise. A few items, like pork, dropped a small percentage but thats because China stopped buying all American pork products which caused a glut in supply.

>Why do you keep pushing this lie? Every person in the country can tell it's not true every time they go buy groceries.
Insane desperation. These delusional fools believe that by repeating a lie enough times it'll become true.
Also, Steven Bannon and his crew employee "click farms" from India to push their narrative so its possible the people saying "groceries getting cheaper, saar" aren't even in the USA. They'd have no idea whats true or not and their masters give them a script to follow.

Its the unemployment and shitty paying jobs that are bothering people the most. If wages kept up with inflation, or if housing was affordable, or if jobs weren't all part-time $13 an hour gigs we wouldn't be complaining.
Oh and that fact that Trump and his family are scamming themselves multi-millions of dollars doesn't help.

Most of the people collecting unemployment are committing fraud. They're either lying about not having jobs or lying about their eligibility. The vast majority of those people lying are rich whites (likely jews) and shitskins (mostly foreigners and niggers). How do I know this? Because I know people who work for the unemployment division in my state and even live with one who works from home. There is TON of fraud going on. The fraud department is massively backlogged because of it.

blue states are hoarding the resources and enriching themselves all the while pretending to care about the poor. they're all selfish self-aggrandizing narcassists and racists. i say we just de naturalize all of them and throw them into a pizza oven as special pepperoni.
these anti ice protests are showing us everything, they're vile racist, dehumanizing to anyone else, entitled obnoxious and liars.

>these anti ice protests
You mean antiwhite terrorists.
>they're vile racist
"racist" is an antiwhite slur, they're antiwhites and nonwhites like that black ICE officer who was called "house N-er" are simply collateral damage.
They attack anyone regardless of their identity if they're not antiwhite enough.
