I've got a handful of hot wheels on my desk below my monitors. I'll pick up one or two if I see a cool one by the checkout at the grocery store. Checking Walmart or toy stores is useless as they've always been picked clean by scalpers, leaving only the shitty original designs. I've also built a few Lego cars.
>>
Sorry, but miniature version of car on the dash has been classified as a ricer objects, along with the following:
>custom shift knob
>phone mount for android
>dash cam
>custom floormats
>mudflaps
>rain protectors on windows
>seat covers
>metal pedal covers
>little tree air freshener
>roof box

I printed my car
>>
>>28841056
They gave me one of those when my dad bought a brand new twingo.
The toy car outlasted the real thing.
I think I might still have it somewhere at my parents place, maybe.
>>
>>28841194
Why don't you just 3d print them? A printer is like 300 usd
>>
>>28841056
No, but before I had a real car I LOVED models.

you still need skills to either 3d model or at least know how to print well and not end up with a cloud of plastic noodles. also you need to know how to cleanup and paint well or it will look like utter shit
>>
>>28841449
I paid a bit over 100 with a mirror I had to glue back on but now they can fetch over 300 which is insane

I still have the ones from when I was a kid. I was always partial to aircraft, though.
>>28841445
Same, but again, more so aircraft than cars. A fighter (P-51, F-86, Spitfire, Dr. I etc.) was $3-5 versus a car which was $8-12. Now I spend my money on better models as opposed to cheap ones, but the urge to get cheap stuff for old time's sake is still within me.

Picrel is the newest one that I have finished. It will be entered into a competition in a special handicap category, which only allows brush painting. I need to order my standard category stuff soon.

They are owned by Round 2 Corp. now who also sell MPC (Model Plastics Corporation), Lindberg, Hawk, Johnny Lighning, AutoWorld and Polar Lights.

Revell lost my business when they shut their Chicage factory down circa 2018. It is now owned by the Atlantis company whose goal is to make modelling accessible to kids again. I see their stuff at Ace, Rose's and Ollie's a lot. https://atlantis-models.com/

>>28843568
>>28843867
Thank you. By the way, (bit of a shameless shoutout), but I am the OP to /smg/ on /toy/ and we are having a group build focused on Japan. You guys are more than welcome. (P.S: Aoshima have car kits that go together like Bandai Gunpla kits now, so they just snap together and are molded in color, but I still recommend painting them). Pretty sure they have all of the /o/ classics too (Toyobaru, Miata, Lan Evo, WRX, etc.)

That is, in case anyone is interested.
>>
I have a bunch, also a Tamiya MB-01 RC Mini
>>
I drive a newer year, but my little sister got me a small lego model of an old Abarth that I keep on my work desk. I wish I could be buying the Goodsmile models to set up somewhere, but those are still a bit too pricy for me. I've got some old busted hotwheels redlines set up at my house too, but those are hardly a display piece with the condition they're in

Is that a euro plate? does that mean you have to bribe your country to get your car passed inspection? That's what some french guy told me that all enthusiast cars are technically illegal but are passed anyways because the inspectors are bribed.
>>
>>28846036
it's a UK plate, i'm sure there's a garage somewhere who could be bribed but it would probably affect their business in the long-term.
>That's what some french guy told me that all enthusiast cars are technically illegal but are passed anyways because the inspectors are bribed.
that sounds like bullshit regardless of the country.
>>
>>28846041
That used to be a thing but the "proper" MOT places are all lo-jacked now and have to play within the rules.
>>
>tfw couldn't afford tamiya
>>
>>28846044
They're fitted with theft-recovery devices? Dude, I don't know. If someone manages to haul off a whole-ass building without the owner knowing, I think they kinda earned it.
>>
>>28841056
Bought it while they still made them, like it more than the shitbox itself
>>
>>28846359
I bet you'd like your shitbox more if you had it on big chunky tires like that.
>>
>>28846361
I'd like it more if it were rust free and rwd like the toy, probably be faster if it was pullback too
>>
>>28846363
A full size pull back car would be pretty sweet but a spring under that much tension would probably destroy the whole thing if it gave out

With the Innocenti you can put a small FA-130 motor in it and some bulbs in the lights and power it with a AA like a glorified wind up car but that's one of the last ones I'll do, it's from the 80's so I don't want to fuck it up. Mirin all those aftermarket hopups. Dunno if you heard but Tamiya announced the M05 Mini to be re-released this year, might go all in on aftermaket stuff too and see how both RC's compare.
>>
>>28849488
The NSU body came with an FWD only chassis for some reason, so I just got the body and went looking for a used rear engine chassis in the classifieds. Then I found this one with all the shiny parts, sealed off race modur, controller, remote and Honda body for 100€. Steal/10 and super overpowered
But I don't think I'm doing another one. The current Tamiya Mini is a touring car, so it has arches but no bumpers (mine's the opposite)
Have you already built any of those kits?
>>
>>28841056
Some, but not all of them. Mostly because people scalp the shit out of them. I am NOT paying $15 for a hot wheels car.
>>
>>28849536
Yeah I've built the 1.3i so far but butchered it at the end when it came to gluing it all together, I'm new to making models so thought it'd be wise to start on the cheap newer cars first. I've got the Fujimi body painted and all the parts primed for when I have a few days off.

Didn't help either that I didn't know you're supposed to not paint/sand down all the joints you glue on at the end, the antenna, side mirrors and door trim were a nightmare to get to stick. Live and learn.

Have a later model full size kei truck. I saw a few YouTubes on this and people were raving about it. Was cheap enough, so I hit the 'buy' button. No regrets, It's fun in the house, delivering cans of drink etc. and can drift it on the kitchen floor. Will also work on my lawn as long as it's not too long.
>>
>>28857580
>Will also work on my lawn
So you will you strap razor blades on a drone motor and put this underneath the drift truck so you can use it as a lawn mower?
>>
>>28857600
don't do it if you don't know what you're doing. those blades could easily become projectiles if not attached well to that motor

British manufacturers used to use this scale. Old Airfix and Scalextric cars were done in 1/32
>>
>>28857613
Yeah the 1/35 scale models I have are pretty much all really old 80s models that back then were only available at the Mercedes dealers and were still made in Germany and not China or anywhere else. They rally give me those comfy nostalgia feels.
And yes, apparently 1/35 is popular among military scale models
