Would it be gay to put a supercharger with a blower on my s197?

A supercharger with a turbo? I'm not even ESL, more like EF(ourth)L, but if you wanna put a turbo then wouldn't it make sense to have either a magnetic clutch off an AC compressor on the supercharger or something like that?

My question is- if someone wanted to do a roots supercharger on an s197 Mustang for example, what would need to be done to the engine beforehand?
Surely more would need to be done aside from just buying and bolting on right?
How much money are we talking?

I honestly dont even know where to start.
The example in you pic isnt compatible with the induction setup on an S197.
That bird catcher isnt some cool looking air cleaner, its the actual throttle plates (like in the base of a carburetor or your theottle body) and it has an injector plate between it and the blower. There is no air filter so its race only. On the street they destroy engines.
To run that particular setup you would need to gut your engine harness. Might as well get some junker with a blown engine.
Pic related is how a roots or twin screw is mounted on modern engines.

You can put an air filter on an injector hat.
It ain't pretty, but it does the job.

Man, that’s rough. So basically there’s no possible way for someone to run a supercharger with an injector hat?

Nice, but it takes away from aesthetics.

Just slap some pvc pipes on the hood!

Just turbo it, I promise you the spool time is insignificant for a 600whp setup, it'll make more torque, and it's way easier on the engine internals than a mechanical blower, and like others have said the wiring situation is way easier, it'll run better, it'll be quieter off-throttle, it'll stink less, it'll be better in the cold, the list goes on and on

If I do this, then at what point would I need to beef up the internals?
My brother has always said that turbos to gas engines tend to go out more often. Idk if there’s anything to that.
Also, would a turbo make my engine last longer?

Yes that would be gay(dumb). Put a centrifugal on it like everyone else.

I can't believe I have to say this. You're clearly retarded. Probably live in an apartment trying to boost your daily driver when you don't even have a garage to fix it in.
GO TO A TUNER. DO NOT TEXT A TUNER SHOP. DO NOT CALL THEM. DO NOT EMAIL THEM. DRIVE YOUR CAR. TO THE SHOP. DO NOT COMPETE WITH THE PROFESSIONAL. LET THEM KNOW YOU HAVE NO IDEA WTF YOU ARE DOING, BE HONEST. THEN LET THEM KNOW YOU WANT TO BOOST YOUR CAR, AND YOU ARE GOING TO THEM FIRST FOR GUIDANCE. BECAUSE THEY WILL STEER YOU IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION FOR THE EQUIPMENT THEY USE ANDTHAT THEY HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH. SO THAT YOU AREN'T SWAPPING DUMB ASS EBAY SHIT OFF YOUR CAR BECAUSE YOU TOOK ADVICE FROM MEXICANS ON 4CHAN TELLING YOU TO "BUY A TURBO INSTEAD BRO"
go to a good tuner shop. Tell them you want a SUPERCHARGER. Let them know you want their guidance on the kits. They will immediately recommend parts that they are comfortable and familiar with like the back of their dicks.

Superchargers are parasitic and turbochargers are not.
Supercharging requires +50% headroom on the block and internals for whatever amount of power output.
Any super'd engine that is putting 600 at the wheels would handle 800 with a turbo. It's not an exact trade-for-trade because the forces and pressures involved are different, so your supercharged 600 which is actually consuming 1,000 won't handle 1,000 on a turbo with the same block and internals.

God I fucking hate backyard mechanics.
Look up "turbo parasitic loss".
Nothing is free.
Turbos have less parasitic loss but its still substantial and real.
You have an increased load on the piston during the exhaust stroke to spin the turbo impeller. It the difference between breathing normally and playing a saxophone.

You will find better info by watching people do supercharger installs on the car you own, which there should be a lot for your mustang. Also they love to show off their parts lists so you will become more familiar with whats actually out in the aftermarket

If you plan on street driving it, that'd be a retarded setup as the other anons have already told you. If you want something street-drivable with a blower stack, the easiest way is to run a Holly Terminator or equivalent TBI setup that bolts up to a carb flange on top of the blower. Chop the throttle plates out of a bird catcher and stuff a filter into the scoop.
Not like you're going to do it anyways though. If you're dead set on supercharging it, you're better off with the drop in Vortec kit.

How much would it cost to color match this thing? Also, should I install coilovers myself or nah?”
