Why do supercars from that time look so freaking good?

Saleen S7 was amazing. built to go racing instead of just being collected. No one talked about it. Top Gear never acknowledged its existence. hell, Top Gear gave more attention to the hennessy Venom GT which was a modified lotus than they gave to the S7. imagine a Top Gear episode where they compared the S7 to the Enzo, Zonda, and the Veyron.

Clay sculpting > computer generated
This isn't limited to just super cars, as a whole cars that were designed with clay by passionate human hands investing countless hours into every pain staking detail and contour and curve while making everything flow together in unison were far more beautiful and soulful than their computer generated counterparts.
Modern car design isolates every piece of the car and makes each component "interesting" to look at individually however once zoomed out and observed as a whole it looks uncanny. Like a hivemind of designers insisting their work is "perfect" or "flawless" rather than a small team or lone designer working with the imperfections to make a more natrual and fluid (or coherent) design.
The nerds became cerebral narcissists and hijacked the artists domain. Sterilizing creativity for the sake of safety, gimmicks, and post modern computer made hyper styling.

None of those cars were considered great looking with the exception of the Zonda in the 2000s
I still remember the automotive forums consensus
The Murci was just a blanded out Diablo
The S7 was considered a generic blend of every supercar but trying too hard
And everyone flat out hated the Enzo
Funny how times change

Growing share of 'ethnic' buyers.
Have you ever wondered why things designed for 15yo gamers are so obnoxious?
It's because their prefrontal cortex in not fully developed yet so not only they're driven to loud, flashy designs but are also unable to differentiate between the product marketing and actual social perception, so it's easy to convince them that they will receive a lot of positive attention thamks to their cool gaming setup
Now look how tacky this piece of shit it.
You could slap a Razer logo on it and it would fit perfectly and I'm sure that people without fully developed prefrontal cortex absolutely love it.

I hate the Enzo. Kids at school used to fawn over it like it was the second coming of Christ, but it just looks goofy as fuck. Stupid Pygmy Shrew-ass lookin' car.

Silvers and greys really accentuate the Enzo's industrial gundam jet fighter aesthetics. But yeah, in the cheap looking default red and without the Ferrari badges people would think it's just a Czechoslovakian kit car

I always thought the shape of the arches never fit the shape of an actual wheel, and the wheels that were fit to it were such a strange size with rims too large and tyres to thin that made every enzo look stolen

>looks worse than F40 and Enzo
>zero progress in performance compared to F40 despite more power
And here comes the FEELING which I can't have a honest opinion on cause I've never driven it
>Clarkson loves F40 and Enzo but he said F50 feels like the engine was bolted to your spine
>a supercar collection owner (The Gentleman's Garage) said F50 is good but not as wild as F40

the F50 GT was faster than the prototype with the same engine. the F40's most hardcore variant never came close to that kind of performance. you're delusional if you think a boosted to shit V8 full of turbo lag comes close to the all naturally aspirated power that the F50's V12 can make.

That's because those old supercars got their power from massive turbos that took them from no power to hold onto the fucking steering wheel because it's going to rip out of your hands power in the middle of the rpm range. They were un-driveable.

Much faster over a lap due to the stability and downforce of the bigger, more aero friendly body and wing.
Also the cause of much seething in GT racing. IMHO not an issue, but I love the argument about whether the MC12 GT1 was legal or not.

>Never understood this
I'm guessing most posters here are underaged and don't have memory of being thrust into new edge/slab styling in the early 2000s from the relatively evolutionarily bubbly aesthetic of the 90s
Combined with newer safety regs the cars just appeared blander and fatter versions of the pervious generations.
Ferrari fags were especially sensitive to change and the Enzo was the most controversial design in the early 2000s next to maybe the bmw E65
The front overhang was also off putting
I do think the Enzo has aged extremely well but almost no one thought that when it just arrived.
