modern projector arrays can look pretty decent in some contexts, but I largely agree

Idk they all yellowed and fogged and look like dog shit.
The painted Ferrari and Corvette headlights, pop ups, 60s lamps, and the early 00s Audi LED are the best in no order.
The worst though is angry squinty double slit shit every car does now

Yeah, that fucking retarded fad of
>le squinty LED daylight running light
>"""""""""hidden"""""""""" sorta blacked out actual headlight underneath it where foglights used to be

Cars like these looked adventurous and thrilled to go with you on a journey. You'd feel happy to see them sit in your driveway greeting you in the morning and nowdays it's all "ah fuck, it's monday again"

i've seen a lot of xv10s with foggy yellowed headlights, but the ones on my car are made of glass and look brand new.

Frogs still do neat headlight jewelry from time to time, even if this one came from an ugly crossover thing.
>>
You reminded me to actually use the rubbing compound and polishing compound on my headlight(s), today, to see if I could clear away that oxidation on the plastic.
Result: "eh."
It helped one and it half-worked the other (worse off). It just means I should actually sand away the problem, next time, repeat, and get some ceramic coating. Oh well.

Ironically when those were popular everyone wanted black housings as the "sport" upgrade
>>28861107
Hell even on those I remember clear markers always being a thing people wanted to do.
Now everyone just misses it because everything is thin, edgy, and way too fucking bright.

>>28861091
The light output was pretty shit though, which is why the started getting replaced with projector style and eventually HID. People have also been putting LEDs in them now which worsens the problem of light spray.
Pic related is a car from my country that was notorious for the terrible output and spray from the headlights.

True it was already a hint of what's to come but at least in that example there's still TONS of nice reflector chrome visible and overall it's just a really pleasant mix between contrasts. Main nice thing is that you're still looking at a shiny reflector and the black didn't take over completely yet.

seconding this. every car i had with halogens they all were shit illumination wise. they shine bright, but halogens light output gets absorbed really easily, it doesnt proejct or illuminate properly like headhlights should do .they act like your nightstand lamp for cozy nights. its not bad, there are just better alternatives. tho i still like halogens. theyre cheap to manufacture, easy to adjust, easy to replace (basically plug n play 99% of times), bulbs can be bought literally anywhere and theyre cheaper than a pack of cigarettes. they have a reasonable lifespan as well.

>>28863263
were just called lexus lights because they're the first car that we ever saw that style on
not sure if they were defacto the first, maybe other JDMs started the aesthetic and the IS200 jumped on but they were definitely the first car of that type to be officially exported

Bongs of that time were simplistic people too myopic to categorise all the philum of JDM like the American contemporaries and their min-maxxing autism. No one knew what an Altezza was. They knew what a Lexus was and they knew that it looked well mint and that they had to make their Vauxhall Corsa look like one cus that'd be well sick bruv.

i somehow actually like both in their own ways, however i think the stock clear tails make it look more distinct/fresh and clean. the red colored pieces actually make it blend with other makes/models and basically the design becomes boring/repetitive.

Wait, I just got mandella'd hard. I always thought that Lexus always had fully red taillights, and clear ones were a JDM thing, but now you're saying that they all had Altezza lights and now even the one in Most Wanted magically transformed to have clear lights despite me distinctly remembering that not being the case. It's like a black line on Pikachu's tail, I swear, it should be there but apparently it never has been there.

if you squint really hard - you could even mistake your thumbnail for volvo s60 1st gen. but once you pop them altezzas you can already tell its lexus. just another proof that clear tails in some cases make a certain make/model to have more personality being instantly recognizeable.
