Serious question - isn't there like a panel where these companies show the proposed designs to various peoples of various ages and backgrounds? I can't believe that an evenly distributed group of people would prefer this over something else, unless the other possibilities were even worse.
BMW is done and gone.

No, because they want to avoid leaks. Review panels are just all internal employees and they can't outright tell their bosses that the car looks like total shit and needs to shoved back up the designer's asses.

"I don't like it" gets you fired. Even the other engineers that don't like it won't say shit if their income is on the line.
"Oh, you're an engineer with good uni grades and work history? Too bad, a guy born 20 years before you wants what he wants."

Yes, final designs in an automotive studio are reviewed in a clinic composed of a distribution of owners, either of that brand's cars, or of other vehicles in the segment. There is usually also a clinic with automotive journalists or "expert judges". The clinic feedback is treated as gospel by some OEMs, and dismissed altogether by others. Many brands that adhere strictly to clinic feedback have boring as fuck designs because most people don't know what they want or like.

Wow. You're telling me that driving a 2,300 lb car that refills in a minute is idiotic because I could be in a 5,000 lb automatic mass-surveillance car that takes longer to refuel? And it's only 10x more expensive? Sign me up!
You EVfags miss the point that only EVfags care about charging times.
>>
>>28862785
You seem to care about charging times...
I don't get the emotion people put into this discussion on both sides - there are cars for every purpose. Use whatever you want.
The price is comparable to the ICE version, BTW. It's a BMW, so it isn't cheap in any way.

um actually it is cheap because everyone uses Pleather now since most people are too dense to properly take care of real leather so they just use plastic shit now

Why do all cuckovers have wheel wells shaped like this?
Some aero shit?
>>
>>28862809
Fairly sure no one's trying anymore. It just slops out with the necessary metrics for cost, ease of production, aero and safety
Somewhere in the middle of all that is an SUV shaped object just like all the rest
>>
>>28862809
To maintain the illusion of height and sportyness but keep underbody aero efficiency/economy targets they simply have no choice but the extreme onions-well.
It's like 90's ricer bodykits on stock ride-height cars.

Aztec is becoming a collector car with a good risk to return ratio. They'll probably boom in price soon.
>>
>>28863425
Breaking Balls already made them shootup in price. Good luck finding one in perfect condition for a good price. If it needs 10k in repairs and cosmetics it won't fetch you any buck as "collectible". Only pristine ones do.

It was disposable GM slop when it was new, it still is. A few surviving into the 2010s to be featured in some TV show doesn't undo that.
>>
>>28863439
>It was disposable
if you like it or not this PLUS them being pretty much THE origin of today's suv designs makes them the perfect collectibles in the future. you will see. there are thousands of cars that were disposable and later became collectibles once only a handful survived.

Surely you aren't suggesting that the market is wrong

>Aztek clones are the most sold class of vehicle today
We've been over this a million times before. In 2012 the US instituted new CAFE standards that classified crossovers as "trucks" with a huge mileage and emissions break over "cars." The car levels were unreasonable, so cars became thousands more expensive each due to CAFE fees while they pivoted to the one that didn't require R&D.

1st what the other Anon already wrote
2nd people buy them
Sedans don't really sell well anymore, except maybe for luxury vehicles.
People like the higher sitting position for comfort (people are getting older on average) and better view and they also feel safer in SUVs.
Women at a certain age or income feel the need to switch from a meme microcar (think Renault Twingo) to a small SUV.
Why do SUVs make everyone seethe?
Anticar faggots hate them with even more passion for being "city tanks" and taking up space. Car fags hate them for not being sporty enough.
Yet they seem to be what people demand, and the industry hears their calls.
>>
>>28864694
Some of the hybrid SUV's aren't too bad if you have to do a lot of traveling but otherwise I wouldn't bother with an SUV-sized EV around town. Especially the larger ones are fughueg things and there's always some dope that can't park them despite the 360deg camera, all round sensors, backing up camera etc they are literally bought by the dumbest fucks that ever got slopped out of a cunt
