If I wanted toget one of these, what should I be on the watch out for? Considering I barely run 10,000 kilometers in a year (i'm not from the US) and I want an American experience, what should I look out for?

I mean, they're not awful if you get an early one. They're not the unstoppable tanks that the Cherokees are, but they're still tougher than what came after. If you can get the 360 V8, it's reasonably quick for an SUV.

I live in shit Brazil driving an average car who's anemic (75 hp aiwth like 14 kgfm of torque that comes only on high speeds and I have to turn the AC off when I go uphill, so you can imagine how humiliating that is.
Plus, you only live once. I owned a Twingo for 2 years, and I loved the experience.

Define 'early'. That generation (the squared one that is) has examples that I can afford until 1999. I thought of getting the 4.0 V6 because, you know, gas mileage. And tell me, what are its reliability issues? Anything I shoud look for in a 20+ year vehicle? Also, why exactly they're not the "unstoppable tanks"?

First generation. It isn't a V6. It's an I6. Know the difference.
And with those? Basically nothing. The V8s, if I am informed correctly, have automatic transmission troubles as they get up in the miles. But the I6? All the important shit works forever. >>28862511
You're joking, right?

Oh, yes, pardon me, I am slightly drunk and i'm planning the purchase for next year.

I was already looking at it because, you know, mileage - and as an early 2000s kid that red Laredo on the pic I used is an image that I have in my mind since forever. According to a local page with tons of info on old cars, the engine is a amc 242 ? Is that the one?

My shitbox's radiator gave in with 8 years of manufacrturing (changed in 2021, car was manufactured in 2013), and it's definitely a reliable car and proven to be reliable. So it's not a whole foreign concept to me. Noted.

What sort of commie retard are you to where that doesn't sound like a better experience?

XJs are overpriced down here because of their value as an off-road vehicle, unfortunately. Like, think US$10,000+.

I am saying it IS a better experience

It is better. They have a nice interior and are less cramped.
Also, they are approximately as capable. Best off-road vehicle I ever saw was built off a 318 Grand Cherokee. Even before he got crazy, it would give most XJs a run for their money.

Damn that's crazy to think, my last one I got for 500 dollars and the one before that 600, before that 1200 and before that 2000, and a Comanche for 1800
