I went to a nude beach in Miami and everyone there was disgusting. one old guy was straight up masturbating under a towel. Ended up sunbathing on the patio of my hotel room with towels on the fence.

Another time i housesat for a friend with a fenced in pool and spent the week naked or in a robe. Great time 10/10

naturism is deeply important to me. i happen to live in close travelling distance to three nude beaches (although really any beach could be nude if its isolated enough). i swim there naked all year long, it is revitalizing to feel the suns rays on my bare skin and to touch the earth and the water directly. travelling nude through the forest is also a great joy

I went down to the beach with my gf last night because it was 25 degrees at midnight and since we had the entire beach to ourselves we decided to strip off completely. I visited a friend who has a very remote cabin, and we had just finished casting the foundation for a sauna building kit she had bought. It was summer, hard and hot work, so we were positively drenched in sweat.
We just took our clothes off and left them to soak in a stream before we walked, mother naked, the two hundred metres down to the sea for a swim.
Almost odd, the difference it makes to be naked, compared to wearing a pair of swim shorts, or just boxers. It felt so much more natural. Grounded, in a sense.
Once we had cooled down, I went back to the cabin to get some beers, towels and sandals, and we just sat on the beach, letting the sun and gentle breeze dry us while drinking lukewarm beer in amicable silence.
Will absolutely look for more chances to be naked in nature, lovely experience. I would like to feel a warm summer rain on my body, or laying down in fresh snow.

I think it makes sense in certain situations, but people do go overboard with insisting on being naked whenever they possibly can. I really just wish the whole "modesty" thing would go away in regards to clothing, most everyday activities and a lot of /out/ makes more sense dressed but swimsuits are fucking pointless and stupid, and if nobody cared about somebody being naked in conditions where it WAS a comfortable and practical option - for example changing or using a solar shower in the open at a campsite, or doing a short easy hike to a lake where you're gonna swim, or yard work on a really hot day, or whatever.

I think you're somewhat biased, but it's understandable.
When the default is to wear clothes, nudists have to go to their own spaces where clothing is optional.
Those spaces then get hyped up as something exotic by the people who don't understand why someone would go there, which in turn attracts the voyeurs or exhibitionists and other people who sexualise public nudity. That can deter younger people from seeking out nudist spaces, leaving only those who have gone past caring if they're seen.
Sexualising nudity is antithetical to common nudism practice. You don't see much more than you see at a regular beach. That's not to say that my dick is dead and I don't notice if someone's proper fit, because I do, but I have the decency to keep it to myself. I notice fit girls on regular beaches, on hikes, at the gym, out on the town, or at the shop, and one time I had a confusing but nonetheless pleasant moment where I saw a very handsome man, but I don't go getting hard just for that.
Like in saunas, it's just people being naked in a situation where it's natural to be naked, so I just follow the old sauna adage: look, but don't stare.

Being clothed for *everyday life* has been the norm for ages, but there were also always occasions where social nudity was completely fine and even common. The athletes in ancient Greece trained, competed and sometimes even fought naked in battle. Swimming and bathing were more commonly done naked than clothed up until a few centuries ago. Bath houses were also visited nude and for saunas and onsen it's still like this today.

You could make your argument for nudists who want to do everything naked but never being naked anywhere is not an absolute given at all.
