Thinking of driving up to Washington this late spring or summer. Would mostly be car camping with a few days of backpacking.
Should I hit Olympic or Cascades NP? I would like to go to Olympic for some beach camping but I would guess it’s more crowded, although Cascades is probably also pretty crowded right?
Talk to me PNW anons

Olympics for sure, though both are good. Check out deer park campground, sol Duc, lake crescent, lake Cushman, Mt. Washington, la push, first, second beach, neah bay, ozette. Hurricane ridge. So much good stuff. Mt storm king.

In spring both ranges will still be covered in snow. You should go in the summer.
The North Cascades are the coolest range in the lower 48. However the hard to appreciate properly unless you are up for serious hiking. If you do go, I would recommend this https://climberkyle.com/2019/08/29/west-mcmillan-spire/. Probably the coolest non-technical thing you can do in the park.

There was an article recently that Oh-limp-dicks has been flooded with increased visitation and is no longer the least-visited National Shartmart.
You want to go late July-early October to be safe that snow isn't closing anything, and hit up Maple Pass. I too am a Californian invader

I did a trip in October and saw both. Cascades were badass but the Olympics had better diversity of scenery. I’d honestly say tart in the cascades for 2 days the drive to the Olympics and spend 3 there.there will be jeets everywhere and maple pass is a tourist trap
