That counts for both the games themselves which were developed more as political inserts for publishers, and for the gamers who at the same time were developing themselves as content creators on youtube and Twitch.
They figured out quickly that a political hot take or a silly political meme would get them more views and thus make them more money.
It took no time at all for Twitch to become ultra gay.
