I listened to some German military nerd who knows his stuff, and the main problem is to actually hit the aircraft carriers. These missiles can be impossible to intercept. But that does not make them hit a moving target within a 200m radius.
The issue is guidance, not speed.

Pretty sure that German system with ahead ammunition could deal with it.
For those who do not know:
They this type of ammunition functions like a normal round, but explodes into tungsten shrapnel at a set distance, so when the missile is on its final course it will crash into the tungsten pellets and shred itself.
It has been proven to work reliably as a means to intercept missiles and has seen great success in Ukraine.
But I doubt that aircraft carriers have comparable technologies installed.

That's why Obama sanctioned the selling of the tech to Russia. Sell/share weapons tech as a gesture of good will (knowing damn well they're planning to use it against you but you also know the efficacy of the tech, have defenses for it, and have already developed something better).

thats a ballistic having a high atmosphere fuel leak related malfunction. hypersonics do not need to go that high, its one of their advantages, early radar detection cannot spot them as easily as ballistics over the horizon. the cloud is from a fuel leak, its not normal or optimal.
