That reminds me of a place we have here called Karangahake Gorge. It's an old gold mining site. Probably won't get nuked there either and it has a lot of underground bits that could double as bunkers.

I believe it is maybe slate steps I'm not a rock expert but I assume its some sort of locally quarried rock and I think the canyon walls are shale which is stacks of dead ocean creatures.
There's a path and a buncha steps down into the gorge and then a less exciting trail back up on the other side that's more through the woods than by the water.

very much so
there's tons of wrecked trailers and houses in nys
anything nice to see in binghamton?

East Texas here. I like the rolling hills and flowers out there, but the chaparral look just hits me in a weird way. I like pine trees and Spanish moss too much. I just wish we could get all the transplant slime out of that region. It feels plastic to me.

In my mind NYS is basically Appalachia outside of ADK and the larger cities.
geologically, treman sits no more than 100 mi from the edge of the plateau province that geologically underlies much of traditional appalachia

Wrong. You can't retreat to a secluded corner of the world and expect things to be fine. Doing that is little more than ceding all land and resources to someone else who will eventually decide appalachia's natural beauty would better suit them as urban nigger storage. Destroy all your enemies wherever they hide and to completion

I guess Hudson River gorge is questionable, appalachia is really the areas that are not directly influenced by the major cities of the eastern seaboard where the land is also hilly. State College, yes definitely there's miles and miles of Allegheny Plateau just 30 miles away in most directions from there.

I love my area of Appalachia. I bought 10 acres with a 2,000 sq foot house at a very reasonable price. My property is in an area that is mostly national forest and for that reason is very lightly populated. A 200 acre state wildlife sanctuary borders my western property line. Appalachia has a moderate climate, lush vegetation, abundant sunshine and rainfall. We have strong storms that bring heavy rain that quickly pass leading to sunny days. These strong passing storms provide us ample rain while allowing a high percentage of sun during the day. Portions of Appalachia are designated as temperate rain forest.
Appalachia has a tremendous amount of freshwater streams and rivers enabling an abundance of fish and wildlife, including large game such as white tail deer, feral pigs and black bears.
Appalachia also has a rugged, independent, even rebellious population. Appalachia's rugged terrain, moderate climate, abundant fresh water and game make it a perfect area for the guerrilla war fighter.
There are many reasons that US Army Green Berets and Rangers retire to Appalachia. It is a place that calls people steeped in guerrilla warfare home.
Picrel is my horse grazing in a sunlit pasture next to an Appalachian mountain lake 900 feet from his barn.

its kinda boring and small but its a nice access point if you like to hike you aren't too far from WV or Kentucky while having the comforts of a fairly normal small city. Interesting older homes and bridges.

>LOL I heard from many that rural PA and NY has many CSA flags on barns and stuff.

You can't build a future in certain regions because of that fucking Kuzu vine or whatever.
Without it being kept in check by civilized society, it will quickly overwhelm a good chunk of the South East.
Keep that in mind bros.

my grandpa has a couple acres up on the mountain (blue ridge, AKA the prosperous part of appalachia because the economy is based off the fertile valleys, not as mining-heavy as the PA part of appalachia). He had a trailer up there and would take the family to visit in the summers. sadly the neighbors just up the way are methheads and one even shot and killed another. The kids are inbred and drive ATVs and are completely unsocialized. I wish I could build a house up there but the holler folk are real and they are scary.
