I said this in another thread, he literally just bought it to curry favor with CM Punk, who had recently signed with AEW. Punk probably told him to buy it because he didn't want WWE getting the ROH tape library. Right after Tony bought ROH, Punk did a big interview about how great it was knowing the ROH library is in good hands now.

Imagine how much better it would be if NJPW worked with WWE instead. Obviously a bigger setup would be better, but nothing wrong with the concept itself.

Probably the one good thing Tony ever did for wrestling was those YouTube shows, especially during Covid where just put on these unwatchable 12 hour shows, but guys were able to get much needed ring time.
