I think I’m just surprised that:

1) WWE looked at the roster and thought they needed a comedy jobber with a silly gimmick. Like, is there really a gaping hole in THAT area that needs filling?

2) That they debuted him with the fucking box trope, which most new fans have no idea is a trope. So fans got worked up that something important would be coming out of it, only to be let down by a clown show. It felt like punking the audience, which is a great Danhausen gag, but clearly didn’t go over well in the United Center.

In short, it’ll be fine and no one will care next week. But I can’t imagine this act will have staying power unless Danhausen REALLY wins everyone over.

But he’s got one chance, lol. Better not blow it.

In all fairness, he got a great reaction at the sold out United Center for the Forbidden Door pre-show. If any market was going to pop for Dirty Dan the Bootlegging Man, it's Chicago.
