No that's actually the opposite. They might have had a chance if they kept in separate. Now they are fucked. Dave already said that they will likely be fucked as a cost cutting measure unless they can prove they make money...so they are probably fucked.

Anon do you realize how many jobs are typically cut when big corporate mergers happen? Also them mixing services into one new platform is going to displace so much content. Max could hardly figure out where to slot AEW in any easy to find way

The concern isn't whether or not AEW makes money, it certainly does, or Warner wouldn't keep renewing it. The concern is that TKO is already on Paramount and is probably gonna pressure Paramount to not renew them in 2028.
If this goes through, which it probably won't.

Would they? The think is when WBD got their slice AEW actually had potential to be worth something and was capable of drawing a milly. Those days ended years and years ago. AEW has no negotiating power because their product has no actual value. Sure Paramount could come in and want a larger slice, but they may not want any of it at all

They don't have anything and AEW has been a solid part of WBD for the better part of a decade.
And as far as partnership synergies, Paramount has NFL on CBS and the Khans are a part of that. Having an insider on the team would be good for them on that.

NXT is coming due in 2028. They could also try to pitch them TNA or AAA or Evolve or some other bullshit. It doesn't have to be good, Nick Khan just has to convince Paramount that it's good.
You do have a good point though in that CBS has had a relationship with Tony and Shad for much longer than TKO has had a relationship with Paramount, though, I hadn't considered that.

If Nick Khan tells Paramount they're that much of a threat to them, that should just give them even more incentive to keep AEW. They're not a threat to UFC.
Hell, you could argue that it helps UFC so in the long run it's not really a problem for TKO. Hurts WWE a bit but helps UFC a little, so glass help full type of thing.

Dem AGs are already talking about suing to stop it and the thing is, you don't even really have to entirely block it, you just have to stall it long enough to wait out Trump, who is going to be in power for at the absolute most two and a half more years but possibly significantly less than that.

It wouldn't be "this is a threat to us, don't sign them", it would be "they're just a silly little secondary company run by some kid playing with his father's money, WE'RE the real wrestling company, WE can deliver real return on investment for you."
>>19991451
Yeah, but TKO has been utterly merciless in these negotiations, they play these media companies against each other to get the biggest bid and they basically wind up screwing all of them over to get the bag in the end, look at how the FOX and Peacock deals turned out.

Half the execs there are gonna be from WBD, who are happy to have had AEW for the better part of the decade. You know that right?

I'm sure however it shakes out, there'll be some WBD voices in there that have a good relationship with AEW, I'm just saying, I've yet to see one of these negotiations go down where TKO hasn't gotten what they wanted and it's very clear that what they want is to do everything in their power to limit AEW's ability to get their next TV deal. They've clearly been intentionally spreading their content to as many partners as possible to try and block AEW as much as possible.
Part of it is that I think Nick Khan is an extremely dangerous, extremely savvy negotiator. Part of it is that I just assume that in any given situation the sun is going to shine up WWE's ass and they're going to mostly get what they want.

They didn't get renewed by Fox. And while the over-stretching is in part related to AEW, most of it is just doing what's best for business.
And it's a risky play to try to dictate to your biggest client on what they should be doing and UFC and WWE are two separate entities. Would Dana be happy with the WWE president trying to shit where he eats?

paramount will choose ufc, they paid 7.7b for the rights. tko won't allow aew to piggyback off ufc.
aew is dead when the deal gets finished. doj will only have 13 days to object.
