Love and Lightsabers, or L+L, is an otome game taking place in the High Republic era of the Star Wars setting. The main character is Princess Cady Omega, a novice Force-user who begins attending a Jedi Academy on the remote planet of Amantes.

During her adventure, Princess Cady can explore the Jedi Academy and the area around the city of Calor, engage in lightsaber battles with enemies, and experience romantic situations with one or more of the game's designated capture targets. Even before its official release, L+L had a reputation among reviewers as one of the hardest otome games ever made, with numerous death flags for NPC characters and even Princess Cady!
I stood in line all day at a Star Wars fan convention to get a pre-release copy and then stayed up all night playing L+L in my hotel room, but after I fell asleep while playing it...

...I woke up as a Jedi princess!
All of the other academy students and the academy librarian Enja crowd around Cady in front of the blank comms screen.
Deline turns from the screen toward Cady. "Princess Cady? How do you know this Kash Fel?"
I can't tell them it's because I've played his route in L+L!
"Um... I saw him before?" Cady glances around at the others and then back at Deline. "On another planet."
Technically not a lie!
Jett scratches his mustache. "A political function?"
"The transmission was cut almost as soon as you said his name." Fili nods toward the screen. "He seemed surprised at the recognition."
It's probably because I ruined his dramatic entrance!
Cady swallows and looks around the room again. "Um... well, you know, we never actually met!"
Also not a lie! I didn't mean to draw so much attention to myself like this! But now that Kash has been recognized, maybe he'll leave, or at least-
"There's a shuttle approaching the academy plaza." Oberon clicks a button on the panel in front of him and looks up from the row of lit buttons toward the others. "It appears to have come from that capital ship."
"Ah!" Enja's ear twitches. "That was fast."
Fili crosses her arms. "He isn't wasting any time."
"All of you-" Harn turns toward the door and as it slides open he looks back at the crowded room and sighs. "Stay behind me."

A gust of air rolls up the academy steps as Cady and the others follow Harn outside. In the center of the swirling air, a dark winged vessel touches down and a plank hisses open, dropping a bright rectangle of light as it unfolds to the stone ground. A tall silhouette in a billowing black greatcoat strides down the ramp as three others wearing dark gray helmets and full-body armor surround him and then charge past down the ramp and spread out in front of his path.
A red lightsaber ignites in Kash's hand as he walks across the plaza toward the academy. As he gets closer Cady sees a nametag fade into view and she stifles a gasp.
He has way too many Force points!
She glances toward the nametag floating below one faceless helmet and squints.
Even his guards have triple-digit Force points?!
"Our would-be overlord." Jett stops next to Harn and looks across the plaza toward Kash and the other three and glances at the red lightsaber in Kash's hand. "I am Commander Ronan. You must know Amantes is a member of the Republic."
Harn pushes his sleeves up as he crosses his huge arms. "Please explain yourselves."
"I am ruled by no Republic." Kash spreads his arms. "My father sent me here for training, but I have decided to instead use this place to found my dynasty."
That's right! Kash comes from one of those might-makes-right planets ruled by a ruthless warlord! It's the ideal backstory for an 'evil prince' character! Was he this villainous in L+L? He seemed like the quintessential 'dark and brooding loner' character who only opens up after Princess Cady approaches him, but he wasn't trying to take over the planet, and he definitely didn't have a death squad!
Lyra crosses her arms and tilts her head. "Aren't there more of us than there are of them?"
"It doesn't matter." Deline glances up at the night sky. "He has the advantage. He's holding all of Calor hostage."
Kash's eyes remain fixed on Harn. "The Mandalorian is right. I will demonstrate. Tamis."
A tinny voice from a speaker inside the helmet speaks. "Yes, my lord?"
Isn't that a girl's voice? And don't they all have female names? Is this Kash's private harem of guard-girls?!
"Contact the Dark Razor. Target the scrap field at the edge of this village."
Cady holds her fist over her mouth.
Is his ship seriously called the Dark Razor? Wait, the scrap fields? That's where Ren and Quadi are! And Gonky!
"No!"
Kash tilts his head and makes eye contact with Cady. "Who is this girl that dares address me?"
Cady opens her mouth to speak when Deline steps in front of Kash and holds out one hand toward the other girl. "This is Princess Cady Omega!"
You didn't have to out me like that!
Cash turns his head toward Cady. "Oh? A princess? How fortunate."
Now he's looking at me!

Kash ignites a blue lightsaber in his other hand. "Those who claim to rule must be willing to stain themselves."
I never claimed to rule! How did a capture target turn into a death flag?! And what's with these lines?
Jax and Deline step in front of Kash and then Jett raises one hand. "Princess Cady has no claim to Amantes. If you're looking for someone to fight, it's me."
"Dad, no!" Jax takes another step toward Kash. "Call off your ship."
"An old man with a blaster?" Kash sneers at Jett and then glances toward Jax and looks at Cady again. "I will allow this princess the honor of a duel. She is the only one with status fit to stand before me."
Why does everyone want to duel me?!
Cady glances at Jax's nametag and then at Deline and Harn.
Jax still only has 8 Force points? And Deline hasn't recovered much either! And Harn only has 90? It's because everyone is still recovering from fighting Jorma Gon and that droid. This is the worst possible time for a second battle! What kind of game balance is this? Kash has twice as many Force points as Harn does right now!
Cady glances at Kash as he steps closer to Harn and the others.
Kash is the kind of person who only respects a show of force, right?
Fili and Enja move alongside Harn to shield Cady and the other students. As they do, their nametags shift to their backs to stay in Cady's view.
If they get in a lightsaber fight with Kash and his guards, at least one of them will probably be killed! The fight with Jorma Gon and his droid could have gone a lot worse, and everyone started that fight with all their Force points!
Cady glances at her status window.
I'm still completely out of Force points?! Even if I used my Duet ability to siphon Force points from Jax, I still wouldn't have enough.
(She called it 'vampirism' a little while ago.)
Cady meets Kash's gaze again and when she looks away she sees Yun hidden behind Yobbu.
Yun can defeat Master Harn in a lightsaber fight while pretending Yobbu is fighting because she has 6x efficiency... and right now she has 35 Force points? Wouldn't she be able to defeat Kash?
Cady glances at Kash and back to the Twi'lek girl standing behind the Hutt.
But if something goes wrong, I don't want to be responsible for creating a death flag for Yun!
"Enough talk." Cady turns at the sound of Kash's voice and gasps when they make eye contact and then Kash grins at her. "Face me, princess to prince. I offer you this one chance to defend this world from my rule. Defeat me, and I will obey you."
Fili slowly tilts her head toward Cady with her eyes still fixed on Kash. "Cady, don't be foolish!"
Cady looks past Fili's shoulder at Kash and then she swallows again.
I don't want any death flags for my friends, but I don't want to die either!
>I accept your challenge!

Cady glances at Kash's nametag again and then looks around at the numbers floating in front of the three Jedi Masters. "Maybe we should just let him win..." Harn frowns and opens his mouth and Cady adds "I mean, everyone is still really tired from this morning, right?"
Harn closes his mouth and Fili glances away. Enja scratches her cheek tuft as she glances the other direction.
They all look like teachers caught sleeping during class!
A hiss makes Cady flinch and she looks to her side just as one of Kash's guards pulls off the glossy gray helmet and Leni shakes her red hair. "You did it, my lord!"
Elara pulls off her own helmet and beams. "An excellent conquest, my lord!"
Tamis giggles as Kash walks past her. "No one dares oppose you, my lord!"
The death squad is also a cheer squad!
"But victory without a fight..." Kash turns his head toward Cady. "The princess offers a poor excuse."
"That's not true!" Cady crosses her arms and uncrosses them again as she looks up at Kash and then glances at Harn. "They just fought a Sith Lord and his droid this morning, you know. It's the kind of thing that anyone would-"
"Cady?" Fili blinks as Cady looks at her. "How do you know what a Sith Lord is?"
Kash's unwavering gaze is still on Cady. "I am also curious for the princess to reveal what she knows of the Sith."
"Um..."
Aaaah! I just blurted out too much out-of-character (OOC) information! Even though the existence of the Sith and their connection to the Dark Side of the Force is common knowledge among fans, it's not commonly known in this era, even among Jedi!
Cady turns her face away from Kash and glances up at him making eye contact with her and then she quickly looks away and swallows and glances back up at him again.
He's paying even more attention to me now!
When Kash finally turns away from Cady, Elara straightens up and smiles. "Will you be returning to the Dark Razor now, my lord?"
"No." Kash looks up at the academy. "Transmit a message from the shuttle. This structure seems a worthy residence for now."
Elara nods. "What of the other prisoners, my lord?"
"Release them." Kash looks at Harn. "I sleep well surrounded by enemies."
Leni tilts her head and looks at Cady's lightsaber hilt attached to her belt. "Should we confiscate their lightsabers, my lord?"
"No. Let them keep their weapons." Kash deactivates his lightsabers and conceals them both up his sleeves. "Prey without fangs is no sport."
These lines are-
"I will allow the princess to demonstrate her power later." Kash looks down at Cady. "After she is rested. Tamis."
The armored girl is instantly at Kash's side. "Yes, my lord?"
"Escort the princess to her room."
"At once, my lord!" Tamis turns toward Cady and walks her through the crowd toward the academy steps. "Come on, your highness!"
When they get inside Tamis stops and looks up and down the hallway and then looks at Cady. "Um..."
(Cady had to lead the way.)

"There are a lot of boys here, huh?" Tamis looks from side to side at the other doors along the hallway as they approach Cady's room. "The only boy we ever see in the royal palace is Lord Fel." When they get to Cady's room and the door slides open, Tamis looks past Cady into the room. "So this is your room?" Suddenly her eyes widen. "Oh!"
Cady follows Tamis's gaze to the bouquet of flowers sitting on the bed.
"No fair! Why do you get so many flowers?" Tamis looks over Cady's other shoulder. "Even the wrapping is pretty!"
Cady walks to the bed and scoops up the bouquet and sniffs it as she glances back toward the doorway.
Where did these flowers come from? Is this another date gift?
"There's something in your bed!" Cady looks at Tamis standing next to her as the other girl points at the lump near Cady's pillow.
She just walked in!
Tamis grabs the edge of the blanket and whisks it back and then gasps and picks up the stuffed bantha. "Eeee!"
Does she just not understand boundaries or what?!
Tamis buries her face in the stuffed bantha and then moves it aside enough to notice Ren's flower in the drinking cup on a shelf. "On, how pretty!" Tamis lowers the stuffed bantha and smiles at Cady. "You're lucky to have so many beautiful flowers! I wish I could stay in this room forever!"
Is she really just a girly-girl when it comes to this kind of thing? Can I use this to my advantage somehow?
"I have to go." Tamis carefully sets the stuffed bantha back on Cady's bed. "I suppose I should lock you in."
"Wait, wait, wait!" Cady holds up her palms at Tamis and glances at the doorway. "Kash- I mean, Lord Fel didn't say to lock me in my room, right?"
Tamis puts one finger on her mouth and looks up at the ceiling. "Um... I guess that's true. Alright, I guess your door can stay unlocked."
Is she always this easygoing?
Tamis steps into the doorway and then stops and looks up at the ceiling again. "How many rooms do you think are in this building?"
"Um..."
"There are a lot of rooms in the royal palace where I'm from." Tamis steps out of the doorway into the hall and the door starts to slide closed but then she turns and leans back inside the room. "It was a long flight from our planet to here."
She's like a little kid that doesn't want to go to bed!
Tamis holds her hands behind her and rocks on both heels. "Did that stuffed bantha cost a lot of credits?"
Cady pokes her head past Tamis into the empty hallway and then grins at the other girl. "Um..."
I might have to deal with a death flag if Deline finds out about the stuffed bantha or this bouquet of flowers! But...
Cady looks at the gray armor and then back at Tamis grinning at her.
Is this girl just super nice or what?
>You can come back later!

This is how we beat Kash. Enthralling his crew with our level 1 meal preparation.
Also is it really so odd that we’d know of Sith? Your average student sure, but we’re princess of Omega, no doubt we overheard a report to our parents or something.

Yeah if Harn gets uppity we can just babble something about the ~force~ telling her. They probably already thinking we're gifted with force visions after we outed gorg and the droid, and there was that holocron pervert also backing that assumption up.

Cady glances at the doorway and then smiles at Tamis. "Are you hungry now?"
"Yeah!"
No hesitation!
"Well, if you escort me to the commissary, I can make something for us to eat."
Tamis's eyes widen. "You can do that?" She grins at Cady. "I thought only droids could make food! Princesses are amazing!"
How sheltered is this girl?
"Um..." Cady gestures up the hall. "The commissary is this way."
"Right!" Tamis stands up straight. "Let's go!"
She's all business now!
Cady glances at Tamis as they walk side-by-side up the hallway.
What can I make that a girly-girl type like Tamis would really like?
When they reach the commissary Tamis follows Cady through the doorway and watches as Cady opens one of the storage bins in the wall.
The pantry is fully stocked with ingredients! Did Lyra buy all this because Oberon told her to?
She pulls open a drawer and the tightly spaced rows of yellow and red eggs rattle loosely.
Yargle eggs! Lyra must have bought these because I used them for the mayonnaise and egg salad. She did call mayonnaise 'amazing sauce' after all!
Cady closes the drawer and opens the next one down as more eggs rattle.
How many yargle eggs did she buy?!
"Are you going to eat those eggs?" Tamis leans closer over Cady's shoulder until Cady can feel the weight of the other girl's armor on her back.
Cady looks back over her shoulder. "Only cooks allowed in the kitchen!" When Tamis stands up, Cady pushes her out the doorway.
Even if nothing weird has happened yet, I don't want any witnesses around if my Meal Preparation skill does something unexpected!
Cady turns and crouches down and pulls open a drawer that wafts out a cloud of frigid vapor. The mist settles around a pile of thin-skinned teal spheres.
Are these grapes?
When she picks up one of the chilled spheres, the word 'Mollinfruit' appears in front of it.
That tells me nothing!
Cady sniffs it and then hesitantly takes a nibbling bite.
They sort of taste like lemons... Oh! I know what I can make! Yes! My Meal Preparation skill is going crazy!
She looks over her shoulder at Tamis standing just beyond the doorway.
It probably won't matter if Tamis sees anything weird, right?
Cady grabs a double handful of mollinfruit and stands up but when she nudges the drawer closed with her hip and turns around, Kash is standing directly in front of her.
"Aaaah!" Cady stumbles back against the counter edge and fumbles the teal fruit into the air. She grimaces but then suddenly all the mollinfruit stop in midair and float up and past her into a neat pyramid stacked on the counter behind her.
"Tamis." Kash's gaze hasn't left Cady's eyes. "You were told to escort the princess to her room."
"Yes, my lord!" Tamis snaps a salute. "After I escorted her to her room, I escorted her here so she could make us food."

"Oh?" Kash glances toward the mollinfruit.
"But-" Cady flinches when Kash's eyes flick back to her. "Y-you're not allowed to watch." When Kash remains still, Cady blinks and looks away and then shuffles toward the drawer of yargle eggs.
She reaches up to a large bowl from a shelf above her head but then she glances at Kash behind her and the bowl tips past her fingertips and clatters to the ground. She lurches down to grab it as the sound echoes around the kitchen and then she glances up at Kash smirking down at her. Cady quickly stands back up and takes one of the yargle eggs out of the drawer and cracks it against the edge of the bowl when suddenly her palm is filled with sticky yolk dripping onto the counter.
My Meal Preparation skill only works if I concentrate!
(It took longer than it would have without using the Meal Preparation skill.)
When Cady is finally finished she wipes the sweat off her forehead with the back of her hand and then wipes it against her side as she shakes the messy hair out of her eyes. She tilts her head and glances at Kash standing behind her and then she holds up the platter of a wide cake covered in two colors of frosting and ringed with teal spheres.
It's done! A heavy layer cake that's not only sweet and tart but also filling!
Tamis is bouncing up and down as Cady carries the cake through the kitchen doorway. The other girl leans in to watch Cady cut it and then Tamis giggles as she raises the first bite to her mouth and squeals in delight.
Suddenly the door slides open and Deline gasps. "Princess Cady!" Deline glares at Kash, one hand already on her lightsaber hilt. "What did you do to her?"
Cady blinks. "Guh?"
(She has no idea how messy she looks.)
Kash holds out a hand toward the cake. "The princess chose to prepare this treat."
Deline glances at the cake and then glares toward Kash and Tamis but then she looks at the cake again.
She's already starting to drool!
The door slides open again as Elara and Leni crowd through together and then Leni shouts "My lord!"
"The prisoners are-" Elara stops as the door slides open and Harn steps in with Fili and Enja behind him.
The other students crowd around the doorway from the hall outside and then Lyra's head squeezes out from under Oberon's arm. "We heard Kash Fel let you out of your room!"
Jax pushes past Oberon. "Cady, are you alright?"
"I wasn't-" Cady glances at Kash and holds up a thin slice of cake on a plate. "I mean... I made enough cake for everyone!"
When Cady finishes handing out slices, she grins at the slice on her plate and then looks up at the students and Jedi Masters all silently eating their cake as they glare across the room at Kash and his guards.
This is an extremely hostile atmosphere for eating cake!
Kash catches Cady looking at him and she quickly glances away.
>Maybe I'll make another meal tomorrow morning!

Even if I'm nervous, I'm the only one who's going to say something! Time for small talk!
Cady looks down at her plate and then glances across the table at Kash. "What kind of foods do you like?" She smiles and adds. "After all, you're going to be living here, right?"
Kash puts down his fork. "Freshly hunted prey." He grins at Cady. "Perhaps the princess could accompany me. If any fierce creatures even live on this tame planet."
Do siltgnash count?
"Hey, Tamis!" Leni leans across the table and whispers. "Did she really make this?"
"Mm-huh!" Tamis grins around a mouthful of cake. "I watched Princess Omega make the entire thing!"
Cady smiles at Tamis and then glances at Kash.
I can't back down now!
Cady grins at Kash and nods. "It might be fun to go hunting!"
I'm pretty sure my Meal Preparation skill can process anything Kash catches!
Cady glances at the three Jedi Masters across the room.
I need to turn this around somehow and get Kash back on the default academy student route!
"Um... now that you conquered the planet, what about the Jedi Academy?" Cady glances at Harn and Fili again. "Are you going to sit in on the lessons?"
"This place will serve as recruiting grounds, once the others have been sorted out. No doubt these Jedi Masters are plotting something. Perhaps they plan to sneak aboard my shuttle tonight and use it to infiltrate the Dark Razor."
He's genre-aware!
Cady tilts her head toward the far side of the room as Harn, Fili, and Enja all glance nervously at one another.
They absolutely were planning it!
"A-ha-ha!" Cady grimaces. "I'm sure you're... I mean, that's probably not even-"
"The princess would do well to mind her own fate." Kash's sudden gaze silences Cady. "Her duel will take place tomorrow morning."
Is that what he meant by 'demonstrate my power'?!

Cady stands up with her plate and collects the empty plates from Leni, Elara, and Tamis and then nervously smiles at Kash. "What if I just promise to make breakfast?"
Kash sets the fork down on his empty plate. "The princess will be allowed to prepare another meal tomorrow." As Cady picks up his plate, Kash adds "Her fate will be decided after that."
The plates and forks tumble out of her hands toward the floor and Cady grimaces but then she looks up as they float back toward her and then she glances at Kash and quickly glances away from his smirking grin.
I need to show him how confident I am!
(She dropped all the plates on her way back to the kitchen.)
When the door to Cady's room slides open, she sees the bouquet of flowers still lying on the bed where Tamis left them and then Cady quickly steps inside and fumbles at the door panel until it closes and stares at the flowers.
Where did these come from, anyway?
She crosses the room to her bed and scoops up the bouquet and then she sniffs it and looks across the room at the single flower in a drinking cup.
Was it because everyone saw the flower Ren gave me last night? In L+L, Princess Cady only receives date presents if the capture target's affection is high enough. Did Jax put these flowers here? He does seem like he gets a little jealous over Ren, but I didn't think Jax's affection for me was high enough to-
She quickly holds the bouquet at arm's length as her eyes widen.
Oh, God, did Yobbu give me these?
Cady wrinkles her nose and grimaces, but then she peeks her eyes open at the bouquet and sniffs it and smiles again.
But if Jax gave them to me...
She turns her head and glances at Ren's flower on the shelf.
It would be rude to throw them away, right?
Cady looks around the room.
(She ended up using another drinking cup as a vase.)

Cady flops down on her bed and sighs into her pillow.
Being out of Force points and having to deal with Kash at the same time is extra-exhausting! But I still need to figure out the best way to deal with Kash before tomorrow.
She rolls over and pulls out the stuffed bantha and holds it up in the air with both hands.
Jax has a maximum of 40 Force points, but Kash has 180 Force points. Assuming Jax regains all his Force points by the time he wakes up tomorrow morning, that still doesn't seem like enough for me to use with my Duet ability.
(She completely forgot about calling it vampirism.)
Cady hugs the stuffed bantha.
The only one here with more Force points than Kash is Master Harn. If he recovers his full 220 Force points, that still means gambling on his affection being high enough to use Duet with him. Does Master Harn even like me very much? He always seems kind of annoyed when I'm around. Is that just because he's trying to be stoic or-
Cady lurches upright. "Am I really annoying and immature?"
Suddenly someone knocks on her door and Cady gives a startled squeak and drops the stuffed bantha.
"Coming!"
She reaches down and grabs the stuffed bantha and tucks it under her blanket and then puts her pillow on top of it and hurries toward the door.
The door slides open and Deline glances up the hallway and then hurries past Cady into the room with Triss and Lyra behind her. Before Cady can say anything, Deline slaps the blinking panel and the door quickly hisses closed behind them and then Deline types in a locking code.
"Flowers!" Triss claps her hands. "How pretty!"
"You got more?" Lyra grins from the bouquet to Cady. "Are they from Ren?"
"Um-" Cady turns her blushing face away from Lyra. "Actually... I'm not sure who they're from."
"Really?" Lyra's hair bobs as she grins up at Cady. "A secret admirer?"
Deline clears her throat. "Princess Cady, we need to talk!"
Is this another lecture on how to handle boyfriends?
Triss and Lyra's smiles turn to serious frowns and Triss nods. "Deline's right."
"We were going to steal Kash Fel's shuttle." Deline frowns. "But that plan is-"
A knock on the door startles all four of the girls and then Cady hears a muffled voice.

"Coming!" Cady waves toward an alcove and whispers. "Everyone hide!"
Triss and Deline crowd against the back of the alcove as Lyra squeezes between them and Cady hurries toward the door.
The door slides open to Tamis looking up at the ceiling but then she tilts her head back down and grins. "Princess Omega!"
"Hi, Tamis!" Cady grins. "Is there something I can do for you?"
"Huh?" Tamis blinks. "Oh, I wanted to thank you for the delicious cake! The droids never made sweet meals like that!"
What kind of weird cooking droids do they have on Kash's home planet?
"I'm glad you liked it so m-"
Suddenly Lyra stumbles and yelps as she steps into sight.
She completely blew her cover!
"Oh, you're having guests!" Tamis smiles at Lyra.
Does she not care about this?
Cady steps next to Lyra in front of the alcove. "This is Lyra Tarkin."
"H-Hello!" Lyra glances at the alcove behind her and wipes her cheek.
"You live here, don't you?" Tamis smiles at Lyra again. "This seems like a nice place. The boys here are cute."
Lyra giggles nervously. "Which boy do you think is the cutest?"
"Um..." Tamis wraps a lock of hair around her finger and smiles at Lyra again. "That boy with the optics and long white hair was kind of cute.
Lyra's fists clench against her thighs. "O-"
Suddenly a crackle of static from the helmet at Tamis's side makes Lyra pause and then they hear Leni's voice.
"Tamis, report in. Tamis?"
"I'm here!" Tamis fumbles to hold the open bottom of her helmet up in front of her face. "I'm here."
"Where are you?"
Tamis shifts the helmet away from her face and beams a smile at Cady. "I'm in Princess Omega's room!"
"What's going on in there?"
Tamis tilts her head. "Princess Omega is having guests!"
"What are... never mind. Resume your rounds." The communicator clicks and goes silent.
"Um..." Tamis tilts one boot up on tiptoe and wobbles her heel back and forth. "I have to go."
Lyra waves. "It was nice to meet you!"
"Yeah!" Tamis smiles at Lyra and then looks at the door and looks at Cady again. "I have to go."
She's high-level at dragging out goodbyes!
Tamis looks around the room again and then waves and steps out the doorway. Just as it's closing she starts to turn her head back toward Cady but then the door separates them.
Triss exhales as Deline peeks out from the alcove corner and then Deline steps out. "Did she see us?"
"Um..." Cady glances toward the door.
Does it even matter with Tamis?
Lyra crosses her arms in front of her chest and looks at Deline. "If we're not going to steal Kash Fel's shuttle, what are we supposed to do?"
Behind Lyra, Triss steps out from the alcove and smiles at Cady. "Maybe Cady will win the duel!"
"Triss!" Deline tilts her head toward the other girl. "Princess Cady might be in danger if we wait to act!"
She really doesn't think I stand a chance!

Cady looks from Deline to the door and then smiles at the three girls. "I think Tamis can help us!"
"Tamis?" Lyra blinks. "Won't she just tell Kash Fel what we're doing?"
"Um..."
How can I explain this? Should I just call it Force precognition?
"Cady is a good judge of people." Triss closes her eyes and nods. "She saw right through that man and the droid."
Thank you, Triss!
Deline nods along with Triss and then looks at Cady. "We should split up to find her. It will look less suspicious that way if Kash Fel or one of his other guards sees us."
"What if we don't find her?" Lyra tilts her head upward toward Deline. "Shouldn't we have a signal?"
That doesn't make any sense!
Cady glances at the door. "Why don't we come back here in five minutes, whether or not we've found Tamis?"
"Oh!" Lyra grins. "That's even better!"
Deline walks toward the door and reaches for the blinking panel and then turns her head and nods at the other three. When the door slides open she peeks around the corner of the doorway down the hall and then gestures for them to follow.
Cady follows Lyra out the doorway with Triss in front of them. When the door slides closed, the sound in the empty hallway makes Cady flinch.
Deline looks back and waves them on and at the end of the hallway they stop and Deline peers around the corner toward the main hallway for a few seconds and whispers. "I don't see anyone. We'll split up here." She gestures up the hallway. "Lyra, you look in the boy's wing. Triss, check the back lawn." Triss and Lyra nod and tiptoe away and then Deline grins at Cady. "Princess Cady, stay behind me in case we run into anyone."
That's the opposite of what we planned!
Cady takes a step sideways and holds her palms out toward Deline. "I'll check the commissary!"

If things don't work out with Tamis, I might really need to rely on my Meal Preparation skill to get past this death flag! What am I supposed to make Kash that's going to compare to him chasing down a wild monster? All I can think of is yargle egg omelettes!
A pacing sound catches Cady's attention and she stops and turns her head.
Was that footsteps? It sounded like it came from the classroom! Maybe this will be easier than I thought!
Cady turns and hurries back down the main hallway and into the moonlit classroom but then she stops and looks around as she turns in a slow circle.
I definitely heard-
suddenly a red lightsaber ignites next to Cady and the glowing red blade buzzes in front of her. She squeaks in fright and takes a step back when a blue lightsaber ignites along her other side. Cady squeaks again and stands motionless with her eyes squeezed shut and then she hears Kash's voice.
"This room is adequate for lightsaber practice."
"Um..." Cady starts to open her eyes and squeezes them shut again. "I'm... I was..." She turns around to face Kash and peeks her eyes open and then her eyes widen as her nose bumps against Kash's bare chest and she jumps back. "Aaaah!"
"As I wished, the princess has come to spar with me."
Cady glances down and looks away but then she looks at Kash's navel again.
He's completely shredded! Are those abs real or is this some kind of hologram?! That's at least an eight-pack! It's like two rows of delicious pastries! I can't look away! Am I really allowed to be seeing this? L+L is only rated T!
Cady blinks and glances at her status window.
I still haven't recovered any Force points! Lightsaber fights with Kash are probably death flags, even if he does say it's just sparring! Maybe I should... maybe I should...
"The princess is invited to choose her opening stance."
(She was staring at his abs again.)
The sound of lightsaber blades waving through the air startles Cady into looking up and she yelps as Kash draws back both his lightsabers to attack.

If this is the last thing I see...
Cady's shaking hand reaches down to her hip and she fumbles at her lightsaber hilt until she unclips it from her belt and ignites the glowing pink blade and holds it up in front of her with both hands clenching the hilt.
Even if I've just recovered one Force point, that might be enough to-
Cady's eyes widen when she sees the text 'Force Points: 180/5' in her status window.
Where did I get 180 Force Points?
Cady looks up at the text 'FP: 180' on Kash's nametag as he waves the red lightsaber blade and charges at her.
Am I seriously having a Duet moment with Kash Fel right now? How is his affection is already high enough for me to activate my Duet ability? Was it just that cake?
Kash brings his red lightsaber blade down in an overhead arc when suddenly the blue lightsaber blade ignites and swings upward from underneath. Cady's own pink lightsaber blade knocks the glowing blue blade away and blocks the red lightsaber in one smooth motion and then Cady glances at the text 'FP: 165' on Kash's nametag.
Am I really using Kash's own Force points to fight him?
Kash frowns and swings both his lightsaber blades toward Cady from either side but then Cady tilts her lightsaber sideways and deflects the glowing blue blade with the tip of her pink lightsaber blade and then Cady's lightsaber pivots upward to block Kash's red lightsaber blade. When she glances at Kash's nametag, the text has changed to 'FP: 150'.
Isn't this a completely broken way to use an isekai cheat power that's already completely broken?! This is the kind of thing that spawns 99 copies of the Jedi Holocron or something! How is something like this even possible? I suppose the L+L devs never wrote a scene where Princess Cady actually fights one of the capture targets so it was never a consideration.
Both of Kash's lightsaber blades smash against Cady's glowing pink lightsaber blade and Cady blinks and looks at Kash's frowning face on the other side of the sparks. The text floating in front of him is down to 135.
"Get him, Cady!"
Cady glances back over her shoulder at Jax, Oberon, and Yobbu watching from beyond the curved bench at the edge of the sand pit.
Oberon pokes the center of his optics with his index finger. "Even with two lightsabers, Lord Fel seems unable to find a flaw in her defenses."
Somehow this turned into an exhibition match!
"Blondee zappum!"
Even Yobbu is cheering for me!
Cady looks back toward Kash as her pink lightsaber blade snaps vertically to block both of Kash's attacks and then she glances at his nametag again.
It's like he's just wearing himself out fighting a training dummy!
Cady blinks.
(She just realized what that makes her.)

The buzz of Kash's lightsabers lowers in pitch and then the glowing blades disappear and he takes a step backward away from Cady and looks down at her.
Cady raises her lightsaber defensively and nearly drops it.
Why am I so weak all of a sudden?
She glances at Kash's nametag.
He's completely out of Force points! That means... that means it was a draw!
Cady pants and then takes a loud breath and deactivates her lightsaber.
(She's still holding her arms out.)
"Princess Cady, that was amazing!"
Cady squeaks and looks to one side at Deline grinning at her. She looks at the lightsaber hilt she's holding in front of her and then lowers it and looks around at the crowd surrounding them as the other students eagerly begin chattering to one another.
Did everyone in the academy see that?
She looks toward the other side of the room and sees Fili lean closer to Harn and whisper something as Enja's ear twitches between them.
Wait, isn't this the opposite of what I wanted to happen?
Cady turns her head back toward Kash and looks up at him and swallows as he smirks down at her.
"The princess handles a lightsaber most impressively."
Now he's going to try even harder to kill me!
Kash turns and walks away from the sand pit toward the door. "I was right to come here."
"My lord?" Leni turns her head toward Kash's back.
"Take shifts guarding the princess tonight." Kash stops at the doorway as the door slides open. "I want to ensure my fiancée is kept safe."
Fiancée?
Cady blinks as she sits up in bed and looks at the morning sunlight.
Fiancée?
She looks around and blinks again.
Did that seriously happen last night?!
(She doesn't remember how she got back to her room.)

Cady turns to stand up but then her boots tangle in the sheet and she flops off the bed onto the floor next to her lightsaber hilt.
I'm already dressed? No, I'm still dressed from last night? I must have just crawled under the blanket and fallen asleep! How out of it was I last night? And what time is it?
Cady untangles herself from the sheet and grabs her lightsaber hilt as she stands up.
This is insane! I can't get married! Definitely not to Kash Fel! I mean, what do Kash and I even have in common besides his abs? He's obviously a dangerous and tall individual who has absolutely no respect for Republic laws or personal space, and he looks at me in such a demeaning way when he even bothers to look at me, and he has such amazing abs, I can't help wanting to run my-
Cady blinks and shakes her head as she hears giggling from beyond the door.
When the door slides open, Tamis is waiting in the hallway with Leni and Elara. All three giggle as they see Cady and then Leni makes a curtsy gesture. "Good morning, Princess Fel!"
That's not a thing... yet! I mean...
Tamis giggles. "Is there anything you need, Princess Fel?"
Elara tilts her head forward. "We'll do whatever we can for you, Princess Fel!"

Cady presses her back against the doorway and slaps at the blinking panel until her door slides closed. "I need to get to the commissary and make breakfast!"
Elara, Leni, and Tamis all nod. "We'll come with you!"
Was that rehearsed!?
"Princess Cady!"
This is going to be trouble!
"Good morning, Deline!" Cady turns and smiles at Deline across the hall.
She recovered all her Force points! That's good news for us!
Cady gestures down the hall past the three other girls. "Um... we're going to the-"
"I'll come with you!" Deline steps back inside her doorway. "Let me grab my blaster!"
Cady holds both her palms up next to her face. "No blasters!"
I can sense the death flags popping up all over the place right now!
A door slides open and Lyra pokes her head out of her room and joins Cady. As they all turn the corner Triss steps out from the basement alcove and grins at Cady and Lyra but then it falters for a second as she sees the other three girls.
Cady walks up the hall with Leni, Tamis, and Elara on one side of her and Deline on the other. As they near the commissary, Cady glances between Deline and Leni.
This isn't so bad! Maybe I was worried about n-
"Hey, your name is Leni, right?" Deline gives Leni a cheery smile. "Is that armor stronger than it looks?"
That could have been phrased better!
"Deline, was it?" Leni tilts her head and smiles back at Deline. "You're quite brave to walk around without your helmet."
That seems needlessly provocational!
Deline giggles. "Oh, I'm sure I'll be fine, even without my helmet."
That's practically inviting a challenge!
Leni and Deline both giggle and smile at one another.
They're cold-war catfighting! I need to diffuse this situation or the death flags will start piling up!

"Um..." Cady blinks as everyone's attention turns to her and then she looks at Leni, Tamis, and Elara. "Does anyone have any special dietary restrictions?"
Tamis scratches her cheek. "Dietary-?"
"You mean like strong reactions?" Elara tilts her head.
Triss giggles and quickly covers her mouth with both hands but then Lyra blurts out "Cady uses lots of weird ingredients!"
"But her meals are always delicious!" Triss glances away and mumbles. "Even if some of the ingredients are a little weird."
Leni grins at Cady. "Can't wait to try it!"
Cady smiles back over her shoulder at Leni as they all walk into the commissary. "I'll get started right now!"
Deline, Triss, and Lyra all giggle at the same time. "We'll help!"
"Um..."
There's such a thing as too many cooks! This might end up taking longer...
Cady looks at the three grinning girls.
...but the important thing to do right now is to separate Deline and Leni!
Cady tilts her head and smiles. "Great!"
Lyra turns as she steps backward through the kitchen doorway "Did you see Obi last night?" She pokes the space between her eyes and her voice drops to a baritone. "'Lord Fel is unable to find a flaw.'"
That was actually a decent impression of her brother? I guess she does hear his voice a lot...
"Princess Cady, you're not really going to marry Kash Fel, are you?"
"Of course not!" Cady looks at Deline. "I mean, you know, I never said I would, right?"
Deline grins. "That's true!"
"But..." Cady glances toward the kitchen doorway as the door on the far side of the commissary slides open and Kash steps through to join Leni, Elara, and Tamis.
Triss glances back at Kash and then looks at Cady and the other girls. "What can we do about Kash Fel?"

Cady looks at Kash again and quickly moves beyond the doorway as he begins to turn his head toward them. "Let's play along for now!" Cady glances toward the doorway again. "We need to get that capital ship out of the system before we can deal with Kash, right?"
Deline nods. "Do you have a plan?"
"Well..." Cady turns her head away. "I was thinking, we might be able to convince his guards to let us board the Dark Razor for honeymoon decorating."
"Honeymoon?" Lyra's hair bobs as she looks up. "Is that another meal from your home planet?"
"It's not... um..." Cady looks the other direction as she blushes. "It's a tradition for newly married couples to travel somewhere after the wedding. But before then, the bride's friends decorate the new couple's home to be more, you know... romantic."
Triss squeezes her elbows against her sides as she wiggles back and forth. "Eeee! That's such a wonderful tradition!"
Before we make any big plans, I need to figure out what kind of meal to make! It needs to be something that appeals to Kash, right? He likes to chase down his prey and eat it right there where he killed it, so maybe a meal that requires hands-on interactivity?
Cady opens the top drawer full of yargle eggs and nods as she smiles to herself.
Yes! Even if it's not a typical breakfast, it might be fun, and it will use up some of these yargle eggs!
"Let's get some material and drape it around their cabin!" Lyra grins. "Something billowy and shiny!"
The classic infiltration maneuver! We can even hide something in the fabric rolls!
Deline's eyes widen. "And some cute pillows! I saw a stall in the marketplace that sells them!"
She's really getting into it!
Triss nods and grins. "We should think about the nursery too!"
Too far!
"I'm not actually going to m-" Cady halts as she feels a presence step into the kitchen behind her and she turns her head to look up at Kash standing at her back when her thumb brushes over a hot surface.

"Princess Cady!" Deline's hand is on her lightsaber hilt.
"The princess burned her thumb." Kash glances down at Cady. "I do not wish to see my fiancée injured."
"I'm fine!" Cady takes a step forward away from Kash as he lets go of her wrist. "And everything's ready to eat!" Cady turns away from Kash and sucks her thumb and them blinks and looks at her hand and blushes.
When everyone is seated, Cady passes out bowls of steaming watery soup and the yellow spotted eggs. "This is called egg drop soup!"
Elara picks up her egg and runs one finger over the warty surface. "Are we supposed to eat the egg?"
Leni shakes her head and puts her egg back down. "It's obviously just for decoration."
"Is the soup supposed to be this hot?"
"Um..." Cady cracks the egg and pulls the smaller piece of shell away and then tilts it and lets the yolk run into the bowl.
"Oh? The hot soup cooks the egg?" Kash picks up his egg and cracks it in one hand over the bowl.
What is a yargle anyway? Do I really even want to know?
Cady glances at Kash as he takes his first spoonful and then quickly takes another.
What's important is Kash seems to be enjoying this!
Cady looks around at all the slurping noises.
It seems like this is a big success!
(She used up all the yargle eggs.)
After everyone is finished, Cady glances around at the Jedi Masters and the other students idly scraping their spoons around the empty bowls.
Everyone is waiting to see what happens between me and Kash! Well, there's nothing romantic about egg drop soup or going to class, right?
Cady stands up and clears her throat. "Um... we should really get to Master Fili's cla-"
Suddenly Cady feels something with an iron grip pull her upward off the floor and she looks sideways at Kash as he holds her in his arms.
P-Princess-carry style?!
"Eeee!" Triss and Lyra squeeze their cheeks and squeal in unison.
They're not helping!
Kash pivots with a swish of his long coat and then Cady's eyes widen even more as Jax plants his feet in front of Kash.
"Put her down!" Jax takes a step sideways and raises his index finger toward Cady. "Kash Fel, I challenge you to a duel for Cady!"
Jax, what are you doing?! Your hot-blooded heroic warrior archetype is the absolute last thing this situation needs!

"I don't need to be carried!" Cady turns her reddened face downward. A second later she feels herself shifted and Kash stands her back on the floor. Cady crosses her arms and looks away from Kash. "I will allow you to walk me to class." She turns her head the other direction. "And... and I forbid any challenges!"
"A challenge has been made." Kash tilts his head toward Jax. "I will abide my fiancée's wishes. For now."
Cady glances at Jax as he looks from her to Kash and then wordlessly turns away.
I can't tell him the plan with Kash here!
When Cady and the other students all file into the room alongside Kash and his guards, Fili claps her hands and smiles. "Everyone did well yesterday, but I'm afraid it's back to sand portraits. Oberon, why don't you start?"
Oberon stands up and pokes the center of his optics with one finger as he looks downward toward the sand pit. "Of course, Master Cynto." The sand stirs itself into a spiral and a rough mannequin shaped like Oberon rises up in front of him.
"An interesting exercise." Kash nods and steps toward the sand pit. The sand begins to pile on top of itself higher and higher until a familiar face appears but then the cloud around it settles and Cady blinks.
Fili claps her hands in delight. "What a perfect rendition of Cady!"
What's with that outfit?!
Leni grins. "Oh! A traditional wedding dress!"
Deline leans closer to the sand sculpture. "Isn't it a little... showy?"
Lyra's hair bobs as she leans sideways and looks at the back of the sculpture. "It's kind of revealing, don't you think?"
That's a complete understatement! It's basically just lingerie! And everyone's staring at it!
Yobbu looks at Cady and grins.

The sand shifts around the surface and begins to fill in the uncovered areas until it resembles Cady's normal clothing and then she takes a deep sigh and glances at her status window.
Am I seriously out of Force points again?!
Tamis stands up from the bench and raises her hand. "Can I try?"
Maybe I should take a quick visit to the waterfall pool to restore my Force points before I really need them!
"I want to go first!" Leni stands in front of Tamis and then Elara squeezes between them.
"I'm next!"
Cady glances around at Fili and Kash as the other girls argue over their turn at the sand pit and then she takes a step backward toward the wall and then another. No one looks when the door slides open and she backs out through it into the hallway.
Outside in the hot sun, Cady squints up at the sky and then hurries toward the treeline at the edge of the lawn behind the academy building.
It's even hotter today! At least I don't have to worry about getting caught in a downpour.
By the time Cady reaches the mouth of the ravine and hears the waterfall, her back is sticky with sweat. As she steps out of the ravine onto the shore, she glances at her status window again.
Even if my Force points are refreshed, I'm still hot! Wading around in the cool water is exactly what I need!
Just as Cady reaches down toward her boot, she sees someone on the other end of the shore.
"Ren!"
That's right, the scrap fields aren't very far from here. I wonder if he comes here a lot? Or was he on his way to the academy? Did he already decide he wants to be a Jedi?
Cady stands back up and walks toward Ren as he waves and walks along the shoreline toward her. "What are you doing here?"
"Well, it's a hot day." Ren smirks and then grins at Cady. "I thought I might go for a swim."
Cady glances down at Ren's chest as he looks toward the waterfall.
I suppose I wouldn't mind seeing Ren shirtless!
Ren catches Cady looking at him and she quickly looks the other way and then glances up at him and looks away again.
Can he sense my mental drool?
Cady blinks and looks at the mouth of the ravine behind them.
Even if it is really tempting to try for a swimming scene, I probably shouldn't press my luck! Even if I was able to sneak out without being seen, I won't be able to hide from-
"Will the princess introduce this man?"
"Kash!" Cady squeaks as she flinches.

He did! Nice job, Ren!
Ren turns his grin toward Kash. "And this must be the lucky man?"
"Ren, this is-"
"I am Lord Kash Fel of Striiva, Conqueror of Amantes." Kash's coat billows as he suddenly appears next to Cady and then he snaps out one arm in front of Ren to separate them. "Are you truly a wedding planner?"
Ren nods. "I'm not one to tell lies. And I won't lie to you." He looks directly at Kash. "It's not going to be cheap. But I'm here now, to help you through it all. Cady glances up to Kash glaring at Ren.
He's not buying it!
Kash turns his head away. "So be it. We will begin now."
"Guh?"
Is this a death flag? Was that the setup to some gruesome pun?
"Um... We don't need to- I mean, we should really-"
"The princess needn't worry. There's still some time before the afternoon class." Kash turns his head toward Ren. "I will see this dressmaker."
Ren bows and gestures toward the ravine mouth. "At once, your lordship."
When they reach the edge of town, Ren leads them toward the marketplace before Cady realizes where they're going.
I can't believe I'm doing the café date scene with Kash!
Cady looks between Kash and Ren as Kash steps through the doorway and then Ren smirks at her. "After you, Princess."
As soon as Ren steps in behind Cady, a small red fist batters his shoulder. "Ren! Didn't I make myself clear last time? I don't ever want to see y-"
"This is Lord Fel. He's marrying Princess Cady."
"He's-" Koe looks up at Kash and bows and then smiles. "Welcome to the Calor Café, Lord Fel!"
"This man tells me you are a dressmaker." Kash finally looks at Koe. "You will supply the princess with a dress."
Koe blinks. "A dress? I don't-"
"Money is no concern." Kash turns his head toward Cady. "The princess will have the finest dress on Amantes, even if it costs 10,000 credits."
"I accept!" Koe bows and smiles at Kash again. "I will be happy to make dresses for Princess Cady, and for her bridesmaids as well."
Kash's head turns back toward Koe. "Bridesmaids?"
"Of course!" Koe nods and smiles. "Having several bridesmaids in expensive dresses is a status symbol among the nobility!"
She's not letting up!
Koe looks at Cady. "You ARE planning on having several bridesmaids, aren't you, Princess Cady?"
"O-of course!"
"The vanities of royalty mean nothing. But the princess shall have her dresses." Kash looks down at Cady. "Is there more?"

"As long as we're both here..." Cady smiles up at Kash. "Why don't we have lunch?"
"Hmm. Very well." Kash nods. "I have been unusually hungry lately."
That's because I've been Force-vampiring him!
Cady glances at Ren and nods toward the door. "Thank you, Ren."
"Right, uh-" Ren walks past Koe and then turns and glances back over his shoulder at Cady. "I'll talk to you about the flowers some other time."
Cady turns her head away from Ren and smiles at Kash.
I hope Ren doesn't get upset about this! He knows it's all for show, right?
When Koe returns with a jiggling slime-coated pile served on a platter, Kash prods it with his fork and then takes a bite and scowls. "This tastes like it was prepared by a droid."
Cady glances toward the kitchen doorway as Koe walks away.
I hope she didn't hear that! But at least that means Kash likes my meals, right? Although, can I really be proud of anything other than having the Meal Preparation skill?

Kash looks in the same direction as Cady. "Smoking canyons and sharp mountains, full of deadly monsters." He turns his face back toward Cady. "It's custom for a new bride to bring back a trophy for her husband."

Cady sees a glimpse of smile before Kash's mouth straightens into a scowl and then she turns her head away and puffs out one cheek.
He's teasing me!
She glances back at Kash as he leisurely takes another bite of jellied slug.
But it's not like I hate it...
"Um... What do you think of the Jedi Academy so far?"
Kash chews silently and then swallows. "Lightsaber training is preferable to playing in the dirt."
Cady blinks and looks out the window at the afternoon sky.
I completely lost track of time! Master Harn's lightsaber class is going to start in a few minutes!
She glances at Kash and looks at the window again.
I suppose I'm not being graded on attendance... If I'm absent they'll just passive-aggressively scold me.
Cady glances at Kash as he spears another piece of jellied slug with his fork.

We're definitely skipping lightsaber practice!
Cady swallows and looks out the window for a few seconds and then smiles up at Kash. "Would you like to see the marketplace?"
Kash lowers his fork next to the half-eaten slice of slug and looks the other way. "I have no need of supplies."
"Um... That's not-"
How can I sell this?
"I mean, it's your planet now, right?" Cady grins at Kash as he glances down at her and then she closes her eyes and holds up her index finger. "Think of this as a tour of your new domain!"
"Oh? The princess wishes to accompany me on a survey?" Kash stands and puts both hands on the table. "Very well. Droid!" He turns his head and looks at AV-3B3 as the white protocol droid shuffles through the kitchen doorway. "I have finished with your café."
I'm sorry, Ayvee! He's just asking for the bill!
When they step out of the doorway into the hot sun, the street is already crowded.
Is this the Amantes version of the weekend? Calor wasn't this busy the other day!
Cady can hear the shouting from the marketplace before they even turn onto the main market street. She glances up at Kash as he looks straight ahead.
He's absolutely not into this! Maybe there's something around here that will catch his interest?

Cady catches a glimpse of something the color of her shirt in the corner of her eye and turns away from Kash toward the old man wearing a purple jacket.
Oh! It's that shop where most of the date gifts are! And that hairpin that matches Princess Cady's outfit is still there! Is that just a coincidence, or does this mean no one will buy them unless it's one of the capture targets buying them for me?
Cady looks up from the hairpin at Kash as he walks past her and continues walking.
I guess I shouldn't expect any date gifts right now. Kash isn't the kind of guy who-
Suddenly, Cady hears a scream and then another.
It's a Sith Lord attack!
She frantically looks around as she grabs her lightsaber hilt.
"He's so hot!"
"Is he a holo-actor?"
Cady stops and looks over her shoulder behind her at a mob of teenage girls flocking around Kash.
What.
"Are you here by yourself?"
"Is this your first time in Calor?"
"Are you hungry?"
"I saw him first!"
"Quit shoving!"
Cady takes a step back and bumps against the hairpin crate.
The old man chuckles. "Your friend is quite popular!"
It's like an idol sighting!
More girls crowd around Kash until all Cady can see of him is the top of his head and then crowd of girls surges backward and knocks Cady off her feet. She squeezes her eyes closed and braces for the pain of falling when something warm and firm embraces her waist as a black shadow flutters up around her on both sides and blots out the marketplace and then she looks up at Kash's face.
How did he get all the way over here so fast?! That was an actual Force teleport!
Kash glances down at Cady as she stares at him.
(She looks completely dumbfounded.)
"That was just a simple illusion." Kash looks the other direction. "I would never allow a frenzied mob to surround me."
Cady glances at Kash's nametag floating in front of his chest and the text 'FP: 150'.
He just casually used 30 Force points to avoid those girls!
She looks up at Kash as he places her back on her feet.
But still, it was nice of him to catch me like that!
The girls on the edge of the crowd look around in confusion and then one of them screams when she sees Kash and Cady standing next to Syl's shop and then another girl screams and points as the crowd turns.
"There he is!"
"He's over there!"
>I know a flower shop where we can hide!
>Why don't you buy me a present in front of everyone?
>You shouldn't disappoint your fans...

Kash scowls at the crowd of teenage girls. "Tsh."
"I know a flower shop where we can hide!" Cady points past Syl's stall. "Let's go!"
Kash squeezes after Cady between two piles of crates and then Cady stops at the crowded edge of the next street. Kash stops at her back.
"Um... It's all the way over-" Cady glances up at Kash and then points up the street and an instant later the two of them rise up off the ground and over the crowd to the alley on the far side of the street. Cady looks over her shoulder at the pursuing girls just as they touch down and the girls disappear out of sight and then she glances up at Kash.
He doesn't even look tired!
When the door to Winda's flower shop slides open, Ren turns away and runs a hand through his hair. "Seeing her together with him, I just-" He stops and looks behind him and then grins and turns around. "Princess!"
Kash strides in behind Cady and stares from shelf to shelf.
"Lord Fel." Ren nods.
Ren was talking about Koe, right? He wasn't talking about Kash and me, was he?
"I was just going over the floral arrangements for your wedding with Grann-" Ren coughs. "With the Lady Parn."
Winda nods. "It's very lovely to meet you, Lord Fel!"
Kash glances from Winda to Ren. "This woman will provide flowers?"
"That's right, the Lady Parn is the best-"
"Go about your business." Kash puts his arm around Cady's waist and stares at the shelf.
Cady's body goes rigid and her face begins to redden and then she glances down at Kash's arm.
Is he doing this because Ren is here?
Cady looks up at Kash's face and then glances down at his arm around her waist again.
I suppose it's not the worst thing that could happen!
Cady squeaks as Kash leans closer until his lips are almost touching her hair.
"Does the princess find these arrangements to her liking?"
Yes and no!
Cady jumps again as the door to the street suddenly slides open and Leni rushes in with Tamis and Elara at her back. The gleeful screams of teenage girls follow them in before the door slides closed and plunges the room back into silence.
"Lord Fel!" Tamis grins at Cady. "And Princess Omega!"
Leni looks at Kash's arm around Cady's waist and then scowls at Cady. "What are you doing with Lord Fel? You're- you're canoodling!"
Why am I the one getting in trouble for this? And who still says that anymore?!
"Lord Fel, please return to the academy building." Elara crosses her arms and glances toward the muted screams on the other side of the door. "You know this always happens when you go out in public."
Kash tilts his head toward Cady. "I will discuss these arrangements with the princess again." He leans down until his face is close to Cady's blushing cheek. "When there are no others around."
>I need to pick up some ingredients before I go!
>Lord Fel, will you p-please escort me to the commissary?
>What if we just stood in my doorway...

Cady blushes harder and her lip begins to quiver and then she squeezes her eyes closed. "I need to pick up some ingredients before I go!"
"Very well." Kash stands up fully. "Tamis."
Tamis looks up from a bouquet of flowers as she tilts her head toward Kash. "Yes, my lord?"
"Guard the princess until she returns. Remain at her side." Kash turns and glances at Leni as she raises a hand in protest.
"My lord! Why not have Elara guard the princess? Tamis-"
Kash turns his head away from Leni and lazily beckons Elara toward the door. "Tamis enjoys the princess's company."
Shouldn't it be the other way around?
When the door slides open the sound of screaming teenage girls is gone, replaced by the mundane marketplace shouting. Kash steps through the doorway with Elara behind him. Leni glances back over her shoulder at Tamis and then at Cady.
Cady makes an awkward half-wave and Leni tosses her hair as the door slides closed behind her.
What did I do?!
"Um..." Cady turns toward Ren and then glances at Tamis as the other girl closes her eyes and buries her face in a cluster of flowers.
She's completely preoccupied!
Cady grins at Ren. "I really appreciate you helping out with this... um..." Cady looks away. "W-wedding." When Cady glances back at Ren he's frowning.
"Don't worry, Princess." Ren glances at Tamis and grins at Cady. "I'll take care of everything."
Wait, what does that mean? That sounded kind of ominous! Is he going to do something crazy?
"Ren-" Cady starts to raise her hand when Ren interrupts her.
"You two had better get going before Zafron runs out of ingredients."
Tamis stands up from the flower display and giggles. "Shopping!"
She's the ultimate girly-girl!
The door slides open in front of her but as they step through Cady can't help looking back at Ren smiling in front of the flowers until the door slides closed between them.
"Is that guy your lover?"
"No!" Cady pushes her fist against her mouth and glances at Tamis. "I don't have a lover!"
"Oh." Tamis rocks back and forth on her bootheels. "I thought all princesses take lovers."
What kind of princesses does she know?!
"W-why did you think Ren-"
"You two just seem really close. And he's kind of cute, isn't he?"
"I mean, he's hot, but..."
We've only gone out on three dates, and that's stretching it!
When Cady looks at Tamis, the other girl is grinning. Cady blinks and then starts to blush.
(She just realized what she said about Ren.)
Tamis begins to look away but then she stops. "Oh!" Tamis smiles at Cady. "Have you come up with a plan to defeat the Dark Razor?"
What is it with these questions? Did Kash tell her to ask me that, or is she just super-observant at reading people?
>Of course not!
>Whatever do you mean?
>It's more of a bachelorette party...

Cady looks up and forces a smile. "Of course not!" She looks straight ahead as they walk toward Zafron's stall. "After all, the Dark Razor is already defeated!"
"Huh?" Tamis stops at the edge of the crates and watches Cady open one of the lids.
"Um... to be honest, it doesn't seem like Kash is much of a threat." Cady scoops a bag into the crate and looks across the stall at Tamis as she moves to another crate. "I mean, he hasn't really done anything besides declare himself Conqueror of Amantes, right?"
Tamis giggles. "Oh, no!" She shakes her head and grins at Cady. "Lord Fel is waiting for the rest of his fleet to arrive. That way, there will be no one to oppose him when he takes you back to Striiva."
Cady blinks and looks back up at Tamis. "Take me back?"
"Sure! You know, for what happens after the wedding!"
After the wedding...
Cady starts to blush and then she reaches up and slaps both cheeks at once.
I can't waste time thinking about that right now! I haven't even decided which route I want to pursue!
"When is the rest of his fleet supposed to get here?" Cady sets the heavy bag in front of Zafron.
"Um..." Tamis tilts her head sideways and pokes her temple with her thumb. "Three or four days, I think?"
"Three or four-"
"Five hundred." Zafron scowls at Cady when their eyes meet and the woman nods at the bag between them. "Five hundred credits, your majesty."
Cady blinks.
(She just remembered she doesn't have any money.)
"My treat!" Tamis reaches into a pouch on her hip and pulls out a fistful of narrow metal cards. One falls on the counter and bounces toward Cady and when she picks it up and hands it back the text '1000 Credit Wafer' appears above it.
So rich!
When they walk past the edge of the marketplace Tamis leans over Cady and tries to peer into the bobbing bag in her arms as they walk. "What are you going to make?"
Cady grins and then stops.
I wasn't paying any attention when we were shopping because I was so surprised!
She looks into the bag and stares downward.
Completely random ingredients!
Cady looks up and grins at Tamis. "It's a surprise!"

Tamis grins back and then looks past Cady as she smiles. "Oh! Lord Fel!"
Cady turns and sees Kash standing across from Yobbu in the academy plaza. As Cady and Tamis walk closer, Elara and Leni glance at them and then they all look at Cady.
I have a bad feeling about this...
Yobbu slides toward Kash and waves his arms. "No luggin blondee, Kash Fel." Yobbu looks down at Cady and licks his lips. "Zugga blondee!"
"Um..." Yun bows at Kash from behind Yobbu. "Mighty Yobbu declares Princess Omega is to be wed to himself, and no other."
Now Yobbu's involved? Was it really his idea to confront Kash, or did Yun set this up somehow?
Kash sneers as Elara and Leni tilt their helmets toward him. "The princess is not yours to claim, Hutt."
Yobbu flaps one hand. "Zappa yappa! Zappa yappa!"
Yun bows quickly. "Um... Mighty Yobbu wishes to settle this dispute with a duel."
Kash turns his head away from Yun. "Ridiculous." He glances at Yobbu and brushes his long coat away from the lightsaber hilts at his hips. "Cutting off your treacherous tongue will be no work at all."
He hasn't seen what Yun can do when she's pretending to be Yobbu!
Cady glances at the nametag floating in front of Kash's chest.
He hasn't even recovered all his Force points!
"Kash, wait!" Cady looks between Kash and Yobbu but then she looks at Kash again as he looks down at her and turns his face toward Yobbu.
"If the Hutt wishes to be forever silenced, so be it." Kash glances at Cady. "The princess need not be concerned."
You need to be more concerned about your own death flag!
Cady glances at Yun peeking over the folds of Yobbu's shoulder.
On the other hand, maybe I can use this to get Kash to break off our so-called engagement!
>Let's discuss this after we eat!
>Are you going to eat first?
