What is your job, anon? I'm the night shift supervisor at a medical laboratory in a 600+ bed hospital. Stresses me out frequently, but the pay is decently middle class and I got a gf via this job so I'd say worth. Mostly a lot of blood bank.

So you're just comfortable living in poverty? You aren't ever going to own a house.
>>84047403
Been here.
>>
>>84047659
I did live in a house. My mom passed away in a car wreck a year and a half ago. I sold it for $300k. I also have her life insurance which was $50k. I now live in a home for mentally ill people with only $400 rent and paying $100/month for my cell service. My disability is $900/month. That leaves $400/month.
I'm not as poor as people think.

That's poverty. But you're insane so I guess you don't care. I hope you at least did something intelligent with that 350k from dead mom, like invest in index funds.

Don't you feel pathetic?

actually i own a house already paid for in cash
dont get why youd measure yourself by that
with no mortgage and only utilities (i dont have to pay property taxes because im "poor") i have about $1200 to spend each month so it just accumulates in my bank account

Not really. Everything is taken care of, and I can be alone by myself. The only cons are the required outings and the stupid group therapy we have to attend twice a week for two hours. I like the new meds I got placed on. At least now I can get a benzodiazepine for when I have panic attacks and I got an ADHD diagnosis so I can also take Adderall.
>invest in index funds
Invested in multiple accounts. Not that it matters though.
You sound like a jealous wagecuck. Work harder for Mr. Shecklestein. Our system needs more wagies like you contributing to society by giving out more neetbux and funding homes like the one I live in.

Man, didn't realize everyone besides me had mommy and daddy handing them property. Guess it's a parent difference.
>dont get why youd measure yourself by that
Because owning property and chilling super hard in it is the only thing that matters in capitalism besides stuff like philanthropy.
>>84047721
So you're a machinist? Sounds kind of based so long as you are being paid a decent wage and aren't injuring your body. I wished I worked with my hands a bit more. It's satisfying.

I'm glad that your mentally ill leech ass has managed to carve an existence out of this fuckass world, but I must ask: what is your endgame? Like what are you going to do when you start to age? You got a wife? For me, I just want to retire and pursue silly old man hobbies like growing cabbages as Diocletian did.

Easy mode life. I've been living here for a year. No issues other than what I mentioned. Every other issue is easily dealt with.
>start to age
Same thing. There's a 75 year old here. I'm the youngest at 26.
>wife
I'm not a lesbian.
>retire and pursue silly old man hobbies
You'll be too tired, sick, and in pain to do it just like almost all old people. Instead, you'll sit in your chair all day drinking alcohol to the point you become an alcoholic.
Work harder, wagecuck. And don't be late today. Mr. Shecklestein needs more money to buy his fourth house, this one in the Bahamas.

And I did forget my own food earlier, which isn't much.
>have plenty of privacy other than not being able to keep my door locked so staff can do their checks
>get access to really good medications I couldn't get when I wasn't here
>plenty of exercise machines that no one else uses so I can work off extra calories if I want to and feel physically and mentally better

Cool you live off government gibs and have tard wranglers waiting on you hand and foot. You're the real winner of capitalism because you receive more than you could ever give and no one will ever fault you for it besides whatever your nation's version of a conservative political party is. Still though, the fact that you'll likely never have a relationship would be suicide fuel for me, but you're literally built different so you'll be fine. You're not that far removed from being a Buddhist monk who lives a simple lifestyle free of earthly desires, but in your case it just seems a lot less cool to outside observers.

Old folks home. Less exciting than icu, but less work and shorter commute. Sometimes I wish I'd done something different, but nothing else offers this kind of flexibility with hours. Way too much talking is involved. The ideal job would not require talking, computers, papers, or personnel, and pay a lot so that early retirement is feasible.

>Is there a job that pays decently well (at least $20 per hour) that no one wants to do because it has shitty hours or something?
There are tons of jobs that pay well that no one wants to do. However, like nearly all jobs that pay well, they require specialized training and/or education. Do your research via Google, pick a job, do whatever it takes to get the "piece of paper that says I'm qualified to do job" and then get the job. It's 2026. This ain't your grandpa's economy where uneducated ditch diggers got paid the modern equivalent of 50 USD per hour. If all you have is a HS education then you're basically qualified to do NOTHING. Pursue something in the medical or dental field if you want infinite job security and availability. If you like blue-collar stuff, my recommendation is entering the renewable energy sector. Got a friend who gets paid good money to bang wrenches n' shit in wind turbines.

You don't have a meme degree and you don't sound totally retarded though, so the 2 years of unemployment is really inexcusable. Like, you need to change your strategy or start trying harder. You're at the point where every interview is going to be "so what's the deal with this 2 year employment gap in your resume, anon?" and you'll have no answer besides a lie. Stupidest shit I've heard all day. Degrees are for jobs and money. If you want to pursue some self-actualization type nonsense then try a religion.

I'll never be able to understand people who are okay being poor. I think it's cause I have a chip on my shoulder from being born to white trash with zero generational wealth. >What led to you being in the place you are at?
As I already said. My mom passed away in a car accident. I don't want to have the responsibility to upkeep a home when I can barely function by myself. Hence, easy mode mental health house.
>diagnosis
Schizoaffective disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, AuDHD.
>meds
Effexor, Seroquel, Minipress, Risperdol, Adderall, Trazodone, Klonopin.
>like living arrangement
There's things I don't like, but that's any place. I could live with my grandparents, but I don't want to bother them with my issues.
>staff
Dumb and bitchy single mothers. At least they leave me alone because I don't give them any issues.
>relationship with parents
My dad died in a car wreck when I was 5 by a drunk driver. I hated my mom for a very long time. It was a resentment I had when she started dating when I was 8. Her bf kept raping me, and she didn't believe me. It was my grandparents who did and took me to the ER, which did an exam, contacted the police, and he was arrested. She apologized forever. After a long time and therapy, I forgave her.
I loved my mom and I thought I wouldn't be able to cope without her until she died. I'm doing better now. I had my spats with her, but it was just because she was worried about me and was sorry for what happened in the past.
>stories
They're so normal here. There's the ones who are involuntarily here that are here on a court order that get dragged out for violating their community placement order. There's the one bitch who sneaks her boyfriend in all the time and you can hear them have sex all the time since she is a loud moaner all the meanwhile having a roommate. So much for our safe space for the ones who have trauma issues. There's the schizo who screams about everyone out to murder her and chasing after her with things like a hammer. Then there's the time I had a major panic attack and meltdown and punched multiple holes in the wall.

There's no one straight path; it's not like other academic fields. Nice part is you don't need a PhD (though it can help), but you need at least a JD from a law school. The three critical components of an application for an entry-level tenure track job is, in order of importance, publication record, research agenda, and references. You need to have published at least one or two solid pieces in a law journal. You need a cohesive research agenda detailing methodology and future projects. And you need at least three references, preferably tenured professors, who will go up to bat for you. Most candidates will have spent a couple years in practice, maybe one or two clerking for a judge, and then a couple years in an academic fellowships (what I did), visiting assistant professorship, or PhD program (sometimes a combination). The hiring cycle is extremely centralized around something called the FAR. You application will be blasted out to all schools, those interested in you based on their subject-matter needs will conduct a 30 minute screening interview with you, and if you do well you will be called to an on-campus, day-long interview, during which you present a paper to the school's faculty and field questions on it (the most important part of the day). It sounds like a lot and it kind of is but it's no where near as grueling as other academic fields and we get paid better.

I grew up poor too and got a real job too, but I resent working. There's no point. People just need food, clothing, shelter, and entertainment. They don't even want anything besides this unless they are some kind of long nose sadist or retarded. It's ridiculous people are paying over $50,000 for a house when they are so easy to build even if you've never held a hammer, chisel, or trowel in your entire life. Grocery stores are convenient in the sense that you can get food at 100x markup and 10% the quality. I can't even remember the last time I bought clothes, shelter is a one time expense, most fun stuff is free or very cheap. Food is the main problem, but you can grow enough food for ten people barely breaking a sweat on part time hours. I feel very silly every time my alarm clock goes off. I feel sillier getting ready for work. Driving to work. Clocking in. Not leaving until my shift over. It's horribly inefficient. Taxes in America are >99.99999999%. Every time money moves the government scalps the shit out of anyone unfortunate enough to be touching it. Before it's changed hands ten times a single dollar has been taxed for more than it is worth. Factor in inflation and the true tax rate in the United States is tens of thousands percent.
A more stupid system could not be invented even with an army of retards and a data center the size of the moon harnessing the entire sun's energy to power it. If a person has satisfactory food, shelter, clothing, and entertainment there is no noticeable difference in quality of life between brokie and a billionaire.
>>
>>84048697
I think you're somewhat exaggerating with your grocery store figures
Also taxing something whenever there is a market transaction doesnt mean the "true" tax rate is "tens of thousands" it still means its 20-50% or whatever, taxes are how the economy functions and is required for QE, which happens most presidential terms, to actually stop inflation
>>
I was a machine operator in a plant making poverty wages breaking my back working up to 70 hour weeks and still barely netting 3.5k a month. All my overtime went to taxes. Did that for years getting nowhere, it felt like actual slavery.
