Anons, I'm in too deep. I'm pretty much spending as much time doom scrolling as possible. The computer is constantly on and I only get out of my chair when I have to.
I want to get away from it and have a life of some kind but I don't think I know how to anymore.

The problem is many people literally have nothing else to do besides wageslave or exercise or chores. Thats the real issue and it started with thr television (idiot box, boob tube). Human irl communities have all evaporated and nobody is really incentivized to try to replace them so nobody puts in the effort to. Only performative shit prevails like cosplaying at conventions or playing sports or entrepreneurship or music etc. So the technology tries to fill a pseudo-social hole. It never actually works or satisfies that itch so it's a addicting micro dopamine cycle. We keep blaming technology when it's really just the band-aid that fails to fix the problem it is not the real issue loneliness and inactivity is. If you shut off your computer it will just be you sitting alone in a room with no good idea of anywhere to go or anybody to talk to. That's why you keep coming back to doom scrolling information from other humans on the screen box. I don't have a solution but people need to first acknowledge the real problem.

It's hypergamy but with friendships. People with 100k followers or 1m followers are sucking up all the attention of people who would normally be out free to be your friend. They're just more interesting than most people either because of wealth or personality or both.
If a person could maintain a social circle of 100k people, then everyone would be fine, but there's not enough hours in a day and attention to give what each person needs. So most everyone goes unfilled.
