There many MANY decks with little to no reading required. A favorite of mine is skull servants. You put skull servants in the graveyard and king of the skull servants gets 1k atk per skull servant in the graveyard then you attack with your 10k atk monster and win (not really it sucks).
Worse p2w according to what? You didn't name a comparison. I've never played other card games.
There's at least one free online client for yugioh so you can also play that, pretty sure it has tcg and ocg as well.

It's dog shit now. Play the OG game that took place during the first couple seasons of the TV show. All the way up until the god card arc. Don't play with any cards newer than that.

there are groups that play retro yugioh formats and have 100+ player tourneys. Riftbound is cool but it's hard to get a ticket for an event. one piece is ok. gundam is shit. star wars rotates in a few weeks so maybe it will be cool. dont even look at pokemon or magic
