Why are carbs so bad for us? So bad we start hallucinating from them

I don't have an answer, but with epilepsy the keto diet would only work in very specific circumstances where normal anticonvulsants don't work very well.
I have epilepsy and absolutely no way will I come off these tablets for the sake of having a go at keto on my own

Simple straightforward answer is that carbs spike cortisol and blood sugar
Protein and fat does not
Why? Who knows but it's probably just because we evolved eating meat (because we needed to for good brains) not a bunch of plants (no give good brains)
So you keep spiking your cortisol and blood sugar all the time and it screws you up over a long period
And of course most people couldn't even name the macro-nutrients let alone know how they break down in the food they're eating.

*Refined carbs spike cortisol and blood sugar
Really the problem is eating refined carbs without any fiber to slow down digestion. This fiber can either be from eating whole grain or by adding vegetables.

Nah humans are definitely carnivores that choose to be omnivorous. There is no such thing as a true obligate omnivore. It's a complete myth. There is no animal that must eat both plants and animals to survive. Just because a wolf finds and eats some berries occasionally doesn't mean it's diet shouldn't be majority meat. Everything about its body signals it as a predator.
Your great ancestors were just a bunch of leaf eating apes that decided to start eating meat because they gradually developed bigger brains and the ability to hunt bigger and more nutritious prey instead of foraging like losers. This is obvious from the fact that the most essential thing the human body needs to survive is amino acids which it can't make itself. Amino acids which are easy to get if you just eat meat and hard to get if you only eat plants. You are a herbivore that evolved into a carnivore plain as day. All the clues are there. You literally evolved to be able to eat meat every day without hunting and you forced the animals to get bigger just so you would have more meat to eat that's how good of a carnivore you are. You are literally a carnivore god.

The fact that most people don't have epilepsy, schizophrenia, or ADHD seems to indicate carbs aren't that bad.
More seriously: we evolved to crave carbs in a situation where lack of readily available energy was far more dangerous than a calorie surplus. Now food is everywhere and we eat too much of it while sitting on our ass most of the day.

Ate raw beef for like a month straight because I didn't have time to cook, but I had the money at the time from working extra hours and I hate buying fast food and I avoid it as much as possible.
1/4lb burger at Mcds with fries is like 15 bucks where I live. And when cooked that burger only contains about 90 grams of beef. For 12 dollars I can buy high quality grass fed beef and I eat it raw. The packages I buy have about 450 grams of beef. I get basically 5X the amount of meat for way less, and I basically never went hungry because raw beef keeps you satiated for a very long time. As long as I ate my 450 gram package of grass fed beef everyday, I was good to go, no breakfast or lunch required. I hear fat is an issue when doing this but Im currently mixing my meat with ghee for the fat soluble stuff.
I just feel so bloated whenever I eat normie foods, they just make me feel so nauseous.
The only times I ever go out of my way to eat fiber is when I eat a ton of bread and carbs. So many people don't realize fiber is just a tool to make carbs slide out of your system faster.
The ADHD thing is definetely real in my case. Did it for months when eggs were cheap.

This gold mine thread has been a means for me to recall some valuable information.
It began with an old book that I read (printed in 1970s) which gave a layman’s overview on schizophrenia. One of many things which stood out was about how schizophrenia has been speculated by many academics at the time to not have existed in the dawn (start) of humanity and how it is only a modern occurrence. In fact, if I remember correctly, the first recognized case was at around the early 1900s or so. The argument against this was about how previously schizophrenia was not understood and therefore you’d not expect us to find any records before the 19th/20th century, similar stuff they say for autism. The odd thing is, something like serve schizophrenia is not something that would take a genius to simple jot down, just a single time, yet there is supposedly no records for the vast majority of our existence until recently. Some arguments agains this is, that there is in fact drawings which displayed schizophrenia and that they implicitly mentioned it. But I honestly think that it is pretty obvious that hallucinations existed and people experienced them before schizophrenia existed (assuming it’s a modern occurrence). That is because schizophrenia is a condition which is chronic and is a lot more then just hallucinations, in case you didn’t know. Interestingly, a lot of people specifically attributed schizophrenia to urbanization, so maybe it is not the consumption of carbohydrates themselves but rather a component of urbanization coupled with or associated with carbohydrates. The reason I say this is because we have been consuming carbohydrates for thousands of years due to agriculture, so I doubt it’s only carbohydrates, at least for schizophrenia. The presumed idea that schizophrenia is a recent phenomena and it’s relation to carbohydrates alongside urbanization is definitely something worth serious speculation, and this is what I hypothesize.

ADHD, autism and schizophrenia are all recognized as neurodevelopmental disorders and have a closer association than you’d think. For example, Individuals with ADHD or autism are roughly 5 times more likely to develop schizophrenia. In fact, ADHD is often simplified as having issues with the neurotransmitter dopamine (an increased amount), while schizophrenics often have a decreased amount. Although this is an inappropriate simplification it draws to bigger question about shared environmental and/or nutritional components reflected in both disorders. To add, I find it amusing how dopamine is arguably the most affected neurotransmitter within modern societies. Many big corporations are profiting upon reduces attention spans and ridiculous social media addictions to “doom scrolling”. With that being said, is it really surprise things like schizophrenia and ADHD are so rampant; it is almost intentional. But why you may ask? Will because this would fuel the pockets of the pharmaceutical industries, even the definitions of mental disorders are becoming more inclusive. I am not saying mental illnesses do not exist, but when modern societies are designed in such a way that encourages their development are we really to blame for noticing? The triad, autism, ADHD and schizophrenia, are all a result of modern society and their development is almost intentional.

I have epilepsy and the diet (Modified Atkins) works incredibly well for me, I haven't had a seizure in years.
I don't think it's that the diet only *works* in rare circumstances, but that it's usually only *prescribed* when anticonvulsants don't work, as in my case. A large change in diet is harder to stick to than a regimen of pills, so it's less likely to work because of the patient's lack of effort. Boggles my mind that some people would rather have pizza and seizures than no pizza and no seizures. Meanwhile I'm eating bacon cheeseburgers without the bun. No regrets.

I was reading about this study and how shizophrenia might be related to vitamin D deficiency in the womb or while developing as a child.
It's a 20 year study where they gave mega doses of vitamin D3 to shcizos for months, up to 50 000 IU a day and that had a positive impact on their well being and condition.

Wrong. Fiber is what slows down digestion. In your intestines water soluble fiber will absorb water and forms a gel which acts as a barrier between your intestines and the food. Non water soluble fiber does the exact same thing but as a physical barrier.
Without this barrier the food you eat causes damage to your intestines. When you eat an exclusively meat diet your colon, small intestine, etc. all have to start working overtime replenishing the cells which are killed from digesting the meat. There's also some evidence the byproducts of digesting meat are carcinogenic where vegetables are not. Most people get diarrhea from a large intake of fiber because their systems are not used to it, same reason people who switch to carnivore report diarrhea for the first week. Long term fiber will slow down digestion when your body adapts.

This isn't really conclusive. I'd look for more obvious answers. What other things did the dieting participants stop ingesting? Were they drinking coffee and then stopped? Predisposed individuals are greatly affected by caffeine which is rarely mentioned for some reason.

Nah there were observed cases of schizophrenia even in african tribes that mostly eat meat. They just consider such cases as "going crazy" and don't tolerate it. If you hear voices (when inappropriate) or chimp out at tribemates you are exiled and you die simple as.

A tribe I stayed with in the Amazon didn't believe humans could freely do crimes like murder or torture. Possession by demons was the only explanation. That's why they engaged in head shrinking. The violent criminal would be decapitated, their head shrunk, and then their mouth and eyes sewn shut with the nose and ears blocked. This trapped the demon inside the head.
The national government outlawed the practice, so instead a ritual is conducted to cast the demon out of the person and into a sloth. The sloth is then decapitated and given the head shrinking treatment.
