Calm down, people were saying the same shit in reverse in early 25 when Sinner won AO and Grug lost to Goofy. If he's still throwing matches and losing to shitters by Wimbledon I'd start to worry.

in a way it's easier to disregard a loss to goffin because alcaraz is obviously much better, sinner is not losing to shit players. it's also different because sinner at his best is dominant on one surface, when people were saying he will win everything you could easily point to alcaraz being better on 2/3 surfaces.

I get that but he's had 2 years of insane consistency against 99% of the field. At some point or another he was bound to have a dip. I think the most worrying trend has definitely been his record with Alcaraz on outdoor courts. Although he's shown at Wimbledon he can beat him. I think he'll find form again soon and actually win RG. He needs to change things to keep up with Alcaraz and part of that involves struggling at first.

Sinner is utterly finished, not even better than Alcaraz on hardcourts, 2 years older, 3 slams behind.
This Sinncaraz meme made him belueve they were on the same level, and now that he sees he can't keep up, he is breaking.
He will more of a Murray character in the end, sad.

You'd be too if he wasn't your guy and every time you opened a stream with him wiping his ass you hear
>OHHHHH SHTOP IT
But then the instant whoever he's playing against does anything, no matter what it is, it's
>[subdued voice] Yeah, good point by anon, stretching Alcaraz to his limit. [Replay begins showing Alcaraz doing the splits and juggling and balancing 35 spinning plates at once] He's out on the run here... sooooo athletic, so incredibly balanced, but just... just a little short, on that one. [Slow motion shot of Alcaraz smiling] He's so talented and so gracious, just wonderful to watch. Just has such a bright future ahead of him, what a lovely point, almost had it

>>Sampras
>your Fritz?
Absolutely not. Just because Annacone coached Fritz doesn't mean he's on Pete's level in any way. Sure he can point-placement servebot like people said Pete did but so can everyone else at this point. Fritz is far more unlikeable, has no noteworthy ground game or net game, and can barely move. Pete at least has some of those aspects; some would argue if he's likeable or not, for instance.
>>Agassi
>your Tien?
Closest I'll give you but he can't control the court like Agassi and isn't yet nearly well as liked—not that American tennis is probably ever going to return to its pop culture glory pre-millennium. I do like him though. I like seeing him do well.
>>Roddick
>your Shelton?
Shelton isn't a GOAT's pigeon yet but largely agree of the American players his serve is the biggest, not the best just the biggest. If he makes it to 2029's Wimbledon final against Djokovic and loses, he will be almost exactly like Roddick

it actually makes sense if you look at his past year
>halle, gstadd, kitzbuhel, hangzhou, hong kong W
>paris, rotterdam SF
>RG, rome, vienna QF
>USO, AO 4R
he's sneakily gotten good at winning 250s. and in bigger events has a pattern of either busting out in the first couple rounds, or making deep runs where he loses to some household name (which is when you hear about him)

About Alcaraz switching from regu doping to giga (tied 2nd biggest in tennis history with Djokovic) doping after 2025 Wimbledon, and AO basically marking the death knell of competitive tennis in the future unless something major changes.
Without injury he's doing the calendar slam (with only other outcome being Sinner's slight chance in Wimbledon).

>people will still fall for the "how can he POSSIBLY beat this machine that is Sinner" the next time they meet
Alcaraz will ride the wave of being the plucky underdog to 30 Slams at this rate.

Yeah, miraculous how that all can completely change between 2 tournaments. You start with already the most physically player in the world who can't get fatigued, then massively increase his energy output limit so he hits harder with more spin, while being more consistent. Simple, wonder why others don't try this.
>>
>>
Djokovic 2010 Tour finals > 2011 AO and Alcaraz 2025 Wimbledon > 2025 Cincy are very similar and obviously the biggest sudden turning points in tennis history; of course Djokovic' transformation was more significant bc Alcaraz still would've won a shit ton.
>>
>>
>>153590774
50 minutes for a final is fucking embarrassing. I don't care that you're being outclassed. At least pretend to put up a fight. WTA level shit. Any final nowadays that isn't him vs Sinner is borderline unwatchable.

Borg with 49 matches on any surface I think? Not 100% sure. He also had another nearly as long stretch. Like 47 or 48 or something. Longest streak on all hard courts should be Federer with 56. Longest at hc slams is definitely also Federer between 05 and 08. Nadal has 81 on clay by the way.

>A lot of times one of them ended up shitting the bed before the final
it's gotten a lot better though. in the past year, they played in the final 6 out of 9 events that both attended. the two years before that, there was only one such final. though partly because they kept meeting in semi-finals due to seeding

Alcaraz is literally unbeatable and will never lose again. Sinner is on fraud watch and will be playing challengers soon. Mensik is an inconsistent shitter. Tsitsipas and Medvedev still suck. South americans are still grinding in never-ending clay matches as every year.

Every year I am surprised by how late Acapulco plays. Every single match starts past midnight here.
For some reason my mind assumes the first should start around 6pm here.

Hopefully enough groundwork has been done so the Saudis stick to February and Tiley's successor will most likely continue to defend the Aussie swing anyway
For me I think the bigger question is what happens with the PTPA's lawsuit and their proposed Premium Tour, if Tiley swings another slam to their side that could give them some momentum

>they say it's the fifth slam for some reason
I'd say it's more about the general quality + atmosphere of the event/venue. feels more slamlike than most of the other Masters (although I think it's still beat aesthetically by MC and maybe Rome). as for the matches, the past surface at IW was not good - the Plexipave they used pre-2025 was very gritty, slow, and high-bouncing. points lasted longer on the claylike surface, and since the grittiness was way less friendly to tennis balls, there was some impact made by ball degradation. they've switched to Laykold now so maybe it'll be a bit better

Tennis in the 80s and 90s in America was comparable in ubiquity to modern basketball. It was SO huge here. Then the money went elsewhere. But at the time lots of people could name Connors, Mac, Andre, Pete, Jim, all the bigger names.

>Now episode seven has shifted the spotlight to Jay-Den Kraag, a Klingon cadet played by Karim Diane. The episode strongly confirms that Jay-Den is queer. While the show does not give him a specific label, it clearly shows that he is in a romantic relationship with human student Kyle Djokovic.

Probably not much more popular. TV watcher demographics don't include tennis as a sport of interest anymore. Hell, more people watch damn golf. You'd need to recreate American athletic tennis superstardom of the 90s to even think to compete with the stranglehold that NBA, NFL, and MLB have on popular culture. And good luck with finding someone who can fit "the mold" who will sweep America and bring attention back to tennis.
