For some time now, with your help, I have been creating my game - an RPG/strategic Dark Lord simulator.


And now it is the time for the big update, focusing primarily on the endgame. Players focused on direct conquest will have new ways to find new battlefields - portals to crazy, Lovecraftian worlds, discovering new lands, and a magical slumber to wait for the rebirth of old enemies/the emergence of new ones (and seeing how the world changes in their absence). For players more interested in the less brutal side of world domination, the options for managing the territories of our empire will be expanded. Will you allow orcs to overrun Dark Elf cities? Will schools focus on training engineers for the army and economy, or on brainwashing them into blind obedience? Furthermore, I’m expanding the Dark Lord’s interactions with other characters, including available romances. Of course, new content requires testing, and since, as usual, it’s highly non-linear and dependent on player decisions (plus random generation), I can’t test every combination myself.

That’s why I’m seeking the help of testers. All you need to do is play once—one playthrough lasts about 1.5 hours (as I mentioned, the game is highly non-linear and is meant to be played multiple times, each time revealing a different story) and send me a short report (specifically, indicating if you’ve spotted any obvious bugs).

Went with fire warrior this time instead of weird water wizard.
Good light fun. Uncertain of how to judge who to bring with me on excursions, the various companions don't really have stats.
The various bits about absurd events in the kingdoms are fun.
Wish there was a bit more interaction with the orcs like with the other kingdoms.

I can not seem to win as anything other than the Insidious Tempter. No idea what I'm doing wrong but every other archetype just gets me bodied by the Free Peoples. I'm sure there must be a way to win that isn't just "increase influence and get people to join you" but damned if I've been able to find it even with a good handful of playthrough attempts.

Thanks for playing! It is totally possible to win as Warmonger focusing on brutal conquest, without the high Influence - I know it, because it is one of the paths which was expanded in this updated and few people tested it. However, yes, it is probably more difficult than full Influence path.

What's the current turn count? What always annoyed me is the fact you never really know how more steps are left until the end game. Would really help to have some actual way of knowing how far away from the end game you are, rather than guestimate.
Also - I kinda miss the card deck version. Run it few times as CYOA with friends using the earliest builds.

You get a female recruits at at least 5 influence in either humans or elves.
If you rush humans, you get probably the best result: first a human necromancer, then vampires, then a vampiress recruit, THEN a consort, which allows to just shit out undead en-masse

If You are playing as a male Warmonger or Tempter, there are 5 available consorts:
Polena - young vampire lady, torn between noble etiquette, girlishness and blood-lust (on the OP picture).
Kiriela - dark paladin which treats PC with religious devotion.
Airen - tomboy dark elf pirate captain (on the picture).
Namaah - succubus, playfull and sensual, but not very loyal.
Meroe - ambassador of the serpentpeople, alchemist and infiltrator, at the start pretty cold and more loyal to her people than you, but you can defrost her a bit.

There is also one night stand with the Queen of Efreets for the fire-oriented male character.

Female Temptress have a chance to be with Prince Janos or King of Pain.

Destroyer of Life has no sex/romances, because he is only in world-scale euthanasia. And Despotic Tyrant is too self-centered to bother with (however he has a chance of meeting his ex).

I object specifically to the Despotic Tyrant having no bitches. I know he's self centered and wouldn't give glory to another, but self centered people can use others for their own gratification. I recognize that it wouldn't follow the same story beats as the consort option for the other two, but a God King should have bitches to use to slake his lust. God Kings being rapacious is a pretty big part of a lot of the myths that feature them. Could even have negative effects rather than the positive ones you get for a consort in the other paths. You aren't raising them up to an important position or recognizing them, just using them.

Ah, Ok. Well, I wanted Tyrant and Destroyer to be bit contrasting to Tempter and Warmonger - two latter ones have fun, when two former ones are obsessed with their goals - extending power and glory and ending the life. But if there is demand, maybe I will add an options. With the Tyrant: something which is focused more on the another form of control and worship than lust OR choice to actually embrace fun sides of the world control and going decadent, harem included. For Destroyer doomed romance which ends in gently euthanizaing consort with the rest OR having a change of heart and concluding that maybe there is something worthy living after all. But if I do those, it will be in the future update.

Ok, bunch of qestions:
1) What happened to weapon upgrades? Used to be one of the options for spending wealth
2) Is there even any point of support above 10? It used to give extra recruits and bonus random outcomes, but either I had really bad luck, I only had regular outcomes
3) It used to be that if you have 10+ influence over humans and install them the warmonging religion, you were getting double recruits almost every time and lucky three units at once. Was it nerfed due to how strong it was? (especially if you then peacefully take over humans)
4) Is King of Pain still a dickhead existing for a shit bad ending, or there is finally a path to make that stuff work?

I don't think they all need sexual outlets. I see nothing wrong with the Destroyer having no acknowledgement of sex whatsoever. They're just here to destroy and that's fine. It works for them. An asexual God King is just odd to me. Again there's a certain rapaciousness and virility that's traditionally ascribed to such figures in myth and legend which I associate with the concept. Not a huge deal if you don't implement it. I'm probably the only one who cares. It just stood out to me as odd is all. I would expect a Godking to demand slaves for his seraglio, to throw down the queen of the elves and break her to his will as his plaything after conquering her nation in order to demonstrate his dominance over her and her people, to take a fancy to one of his followers and debase her and then suffer the consequences of overstepping himself and then lash out violently when those loyal to him try to protest his actions. Basically what I'm saying is I expect a God King to see want take regardless of potential consequences, and to have great appetites, because expressing his virility and dominance is a way of building up his image and glorifying himself. It's not a fetish thing, it's just that's what God Kings do. See Zeus for an example most people with a background in western culture are familiar with. He fucks who he wants, when he wants, and damn the consequences. Because he's Zeus, King of the Gods. Who is there to deny him?

I just created an evil alliance of orcs, men, and dwarves, married a vampire-woman, and conquered the world after fending off and then destroying ice-people by using dwarven-made flamethrowers.

I just regret not being able to corrupt a meddlesome priest with a cursed artefact, but otherwise it was a game of great victory.

2. No. As I mention in the manual at the start of the game, increasing Influence in the given region beyond the 7 doesn't do anything, well, it can be see as a safeguard against the sudden decrease. And sorry, but I don;t remember +10 giving additional recruits in the past.
3. Becoming humanity's war deity should still give a chance for additional recruits.
4. He still exists (and can be defeated!) but he shouls spawn less often.

1) Well then I had 8-10 Wealth on me and this option was NEVER present, no matter which "class" I've picked (tried already all four). Put friend to it, too, and he also didn't get option to upgrade weapons.
The only thing I ever managed is that random event with digging orichalcium (which I guess is tied with high dorf influence, but only managed to trigger it twice)
3) Never get that one, and I did three straight runs for this goal exactly. I was recruiting every other turn even, and always just got 1 human soldier up-tick, no matter what.

There really might be something bugged with weapons upgrades

Yes, but only when I play as "brawl" overolrds. When I play as magicals, it is handled by different chain of events each time and I can simply send out parties looking for anything magical

Strange. In the same scene where You can buy crystals, you should be able to buy armaments if You have at least 7 wealth. Both options have exactly the same condition, just with the different amount of wealth. If You have similar situtation in the future, please, send me screen (including visible stats).

Also - in general, I always need new playetesters. It is difficult to test all paths by myself (not only because of time, but because of routine too - when I am clicking the same scenes 100 times, I stop seeing details). Once you have any kingdom to 7 or higher, you should start recruiting. Ideally, by first "who to attack", you should have at least one kingdom firmly in your grip and you should use it to attack elves. Elves are always first to spot you and will then try to mediate with other nations. By attacking elves, you dunk the race relations, so they won't be informing other races and thus prevent suspicion from rising. This in turn allows you to stop influencing that specific kingdom, as it will streadily remain at 9-8 influence and thus only needing maintenance during random events
Also, ignore greenskins, they are fucking useless. Using them in combat means you are directly bringing suspicion all across the board, along with wasting turns to improve relations with them. The token force you start with is more than enough and other than RP, there is no real point to continue - they are simply less efficient to have than simply dominating any of the three kingdoms.

... so what's the trigger for Federation showing up? I don't recall it from earlier builds. Also, lacking wealth, I just steamrolled them in a single swoop - for I had weapons at 7 and army of 20 human units (on top of other stuff).

Speaking of humans, the "good heir" is completely busted for them. I still take them over without any fight or real resistance, while get extra troops and then additional recruits anyway. There is currently no point removing him from the picture, as he provides just extra benefits and then humans surrender anyway.

Also, stuff I've noticed when going through options that might or might not be bugs:
- there is some error regarding slaves; I only gained them once as 1, during the very first raid, but: they never went down (I offered them orcs to feast and ritual-sacrificed them, still having 1 unit each time in the aftermath)
- raiding results in terms of wealth are busted, unless it was just pure RNG - I raided elves when they were doing badly and got 3 wealth and I raided them when they were doing splendid and gained 3 wealth (while the text mentioned that's because they were doing so well for themselves); if this was just luck with basic raid, then no problem, but I have no idea what the outcome ranges are, so still reporting
- I can confirm the other anon problem with wealth and buying weapons, had 8, didn't get the upgrade option, but next time had 19 wealth, so I directly had the +2 option (for -10 wealth) that pumped my weapons by +3, but removed 10 wealth; I assume
- the dragon doesn't register in any counters. I assume it's still hidden in the code somewhere as an asset for you to use, but I never saw it amount to anything, while still wasted 2 mana on it
- there is almost no difference who you put in charge of Kingdom of Men: you always gain just +1 human troop (short for your starting advisor): the old noble family, your dark knight, the fallen paladin all give +1 (which might be a feature), even when the paladin mentions mounted knights; necromancer and vampiress give you (obviously) different troops

Side note:
- the 78 year portal is too random with its outcome and it almost doesn't matter who you take with you and doesn't seem to affect their personal stories: necromancer doesn't gain advancement in his experiment and the dwarven runemaster also gets squat; whatever the Neconomicon does, I don't care, for wealth is just too useful
- the final question if to give dwarves monopolies or not doesn't matter one bit, it's the game end anyway

In the current update, Warmonger got some bonuses for recruiting greenskins, so it is more efficient.

It's not even about lack of content - it's that they are inefficient. You gain nothing of value or importance by rising influence among them. And if your support goes to 0, there is no real penalty, either (or at least I never encountered one). It's just so much more useful to spend the turns on improving your grip over any of the three kingdoms and recruit there, making it a double bubble.

And nta, but does it mean you took over the original creator? The game was originally a card-based thing and I most definitely played it pre-covid.

No, it is exactly opposite. I imagined him as a Morug Noseless from the start, long before game had any graphics. And when I started adding AI images, it was very difficult to force it to create orc without nose. I tried many prompts - noseless, hole instead of nose, no nose, skullface, Voldemort - but it was adamant in making nose-having orcs. I was even wondering if I should not delete mention of him not having a nose from the text. But at least, halleluyah, Google Gemini graciously made orc without the nose. Well, it is not perfect, because he still has too much of the nose remnants, but acceptable.
You can check in the game, that every other orc has quasi-normal nose, but Morug always has hole in the middle of the face. So yes, it was deliberate, consistent choice. Of course, You can dislike this choice :)

- more challenge (it is near-impossible to fail)
- more random events
- more of the activities

Right now, the game is just too fucking short: you ger 3-4 raids, you ger 1-3 important events, you get 1-2 events per character you recruited (and most of those are pure fluff), and then it's the final fight, where they just surrender to you.
Also, what the other anon said - greenskins are completely shit and completely ignorable

It was fun. Admittedly, I actually failed most of my quests and ended up I'm control of both the elves and dwarves due to influence and put down the humans with the archbomb.

Assuming nothing costs more than 10 wealth, the game should ask you each and every turn if you want to spend it. It's been now thrice where I managed to accumulate 12+ wealth in the late game, but was unable to do anything with it, since the "spend money" fixed turn already happened

The easiest band-aid it them just revolting if you have 0 influence and/or being disobedient below, say, 5 (since you start with 4 and get events that can further decrease it). Which means you have to keep their support at certain minimal level, or they make their own raids, steal from you, fight each other or your other soldiers etc

There really should be counter for "other" or "animals" or whatever.. That man-eating spiders event? It's kind of shit. You do nothing and gain nothing. You help them and all it does is barely scratching humans, but raising suspicion by a fuckload/ Event with vargs just give you extra greenskins

Should be decreasing on its own over X turns. Not just via random events, but, say, "didn't meddle with humans for 10 turns, so -1 suspicion".

Right now, it's a lot of fluff and barely any mechanical effects. Most of them just exist and are set in stone - the human dark knight is kinda shit (and it never changes), the paladin can interact with others via training, but doesn't really change shit, you can have the dwarven craftsmen interact with various stuff but never figure out anything of value outside pre-defined "main plot" event etc.

Also, what happened with the half-elf that you could use are your spy? Was she removed? I remember her being early game "mandatory" companion back in 2024

You can have that. Make the Tyrant all about establishing and proving that they're the Boss of everything (that's their obsession after all) and that they do that to some of their subordinates by fucking them or their spouse (while the other partner looks on in shame, for preference). But for the Tyrant, the pleasure comes from the domination implicit, not the act itself; it's about the demonstration of unopposable power above all, and any sex is just another tool for that main purpose.

Hello. As i mentioned in manual, which is accesible at the start of the game, dark elves specialize in slave hunting. If You want to increase chance of gaining some slaves in the raid, send elves on it.
