I really don't think the "all-faction" thing means it's going to come with bits for destruction/chaos/death or anything, it'l probably just have a RoR for every GA like gargants currently have.
Makes sense with a kit as big and expensive as this, locking it to one faction is kind of a waste.

You might be thinking of me! The other guy who got 2 ogor boxes awhile ago.
And I haven't painted them, I might wind up selling them out to some local guys since I bumped into an ogor player last night after my game.

Yeah they were really fucking annoying (also had a perfect line to charge and then there was complaints where he was like "erm no, you can't drop there that looks like it's .1 cm too far." I WASN'T) any ranged attacks that hit decently and have rend suck for FEC. I completely forgot about the anti-ward tech too since all I had was felgryn who just kinda does what most of my FEC heroes do which is sit back until they can make the trip out to fight. I feel like I'm in the constant debate with myself not to just turn 1 charge and try to wipe out the enemy.
I dunno if there's any other FEC players, honest opinions on how to properly use my heroes since I'm concerned for anything that isn't the bigger guys just crumbling instantly. Tried the executioner too with some cryptguard and wasn't particularly impressed either.

The gatebreaker has the hood which is kind of death-y I suppose, but there's nothing particularily orderly about the krakeneater or chaosy about the warstomper. You mention the khorne symbol, but that's actually just a looted shield. He also has stormcast and wanderer (?) shields next to it, as well as a bunch of other trophies from other factions.
Also were the specific gargant RoR's a thing when they launched? Couldn't you just take every gargant variety in every alliance? I might be misremembering that.
>>97610834
Yeah the anti regeneration is going to be a pain for a few specific armies who rely on it I feel like.
How are you enjoying the "new" fec rules in general anon?
>>

For some reason my brain always defaults to thinking it's named the bonecrusher. Always takes a second to get it right. Dunno why that is but it just somehow looks like it should be called bonecrusher.

>How are you enjoying the "new" fec rules in general anon?
I'll be honest, the delusion system seemed a bit more exciting off the bat but actually using it most of the delusions feel conceptually cool but I'm not vibing with them as much as I'd like. Felgryn aside from the anti-ward missle feels fuckin' useless (his delusion is just control score junk) Goremayne giving extra damage seems nice but a bit risky.
It's weird, they still want to encourage you to use foot heroes to spread your buffs, and I'm not quite sure how I wanna build now with this in mind. We're still really squishy and I feel like I'm gonna need to pick a lane to stick to since I feel like my list is kind of spread all over. I'm sad most of the buffs from everyone is for serfs since I like using knights or monsters.
I still enjoy the faction, I think Goremayne is boring as fuck now since he's just boiled down to another "strike last" machine instead of having options. Hoping for some additional releases that aren't foot heroes.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>97611115
Thanks for the writeup anon, very interesting. I heard the delusions were better received than the majority of 4th edition stuff at that point but maybe not a 100% there yet.
Also previous to 4th edition I was a nogames, but I've noticed that abilities that affect control etc aren't usually that useful? They can swing an objective in some cases but usually the units just brawl it out to where one is left standing, or the other unit is so reduced in strength so a control buff or debuff for the enemy matters little.
Anyway that got me thinking, how important was bravery in previous editions? How do you guys feel about the switch to control scores?

>I heard the delusions were better received than the majority of 4th edition stuff at that point but maybe not a 100% there yet.
The tome itself is really fucking cool, there's a fold out page where the exterior is that noble guy art and a map of territory, it opens up into a neat ghouly thing. I liked it a lot.
I think the ghouls are in a decent spot, delusions conceptually are fun since it's kinda like a power struggle on who gets what and encourages you to bring certain characters to the retinue. I think my biggest problem just being that foot heroes that don't cast this edition are like the lamest shit. Goremayne, executioner, and scroll guy are all conceptually cool but they are basically just a "I do one thing, I cost like 150 points" and I just don't know if there's enough room for a tech piece that sits in the backline for an army all about running in and ripping people to shreds.
>but I've noticed that abilities that affect control etc aren't usually that useful
They're stupid, since you either have so much control score you're basically gonna win every time like Gargs or you have dickall and you're a beast. It's not a very interesting system and getting an ability like "If the enemy is in combat with a beast they lose 10 control score this turn" is like the lamest waste of ink I could imagine when they could do anything else.
Control Score and D3 rolls are so far some of the more annoying bits of 4e

For gits I would've liked some heavy armour ""elite"" gits, like the guy from the first uw warband. Grinkrak's court was kind of like that but I'm not a fan of their armour, I much prefer picrel's take on them.
Though it could've been cool to use the warcry slot on a spiderfang refresh. Three guys on spiders, some smaller spiders, and then a few normal gits with like spider arms strapped to their back or something who knows.

I guess it depends on your definition of top. Boners have historically been a 4-1 army with a good win rate percentage but crater at top tables because they don't have the mobility tricks or extra gimmick that puts them over, or there's an achilles heal matchup like shooting fucked 2e obr. Some melee only matchups got demolished or people not being able to pass the stat check.
There was a time when 3e book launched that the recursion was strong enough with both mortarchs that they were consistently getting five win rounds, until they nerfed immortis guard and stalker recursion.
Now they're like a shit statted army without a gimmick. I'm all for making the army harder to play but higher ceiling but it's more like they lowered the floor and ceiling and will make stalkers like 100 points in a year lmao.

If you could, are there any armies you would alter the armor/weapons design of? Maybe a slight alteration or addition of some variety or a wholesale change of style.
>Seraphon
Add at least some options for more primitive looking weapons and shields like the Fantasy versions that had shields made out of dino hide, especially for making a Coalesced force that's gone native
>Soulblight
Add options for different weapon styles like straight swords, add COS armor parts as options. Or just move the armor inspiration more towards medieval German

>armor/weapons design
Maybe just the helmets of lumineth, just a slight tweaking of them. Keep them tall, but keep the animal motif in a more subtle way.
aside from that, making them more like their broken spire artwork would be neat too.
>cities
Get rid of the armor entirely of the freeguild and incorporate more leather and gambeson. Maybe chain mail too. Ideally I'd turn cities into a napolenoic army but that's a complete overhaul of its identity.
>soulblight
Personally? Just keep it slavic but add more horror elements, maybe even dive into night lord territory and steal some corpses. Something like pic related would be great.
>sylvaneth
remove the bug jet packs and just give them proper butterfly wings. It doesn't need to be 40k.

when I say remaking the helmets, dont do them anywhere NEAR identical to high elves, personally I find the helmets they have fucking retarded, absurdly so, dark elves kind of fixed it to where I can find them palatable but thats beyond the point.
Basically im just asking for what they already did for the stone mages but for the stone guard.
As for the wind chargers, I dunno what you can do without being redundant.
>>
>>97614620
Seeing that red horseman makes me want to see some torture-based units for Soulblight. A little like the Unmade but for Death. A warband consisting of vampires subject to medieval torture devices for some slight against Nagash or one of their betters and made to fight like that could be cool. Or just straight up a cabal of vampires that are just into that kind of thing.

Ah, I probably should have worded it better, or actually not omit my thought process rather. I didn’t mean to insinuate that the pic was Slavic, I just really liked the helmet and that’s what I meant by horror elements. I agree on the seraphon, the shields are the only part I dislike about the refresh. Does it count as "altering the weapons" if I want more options for the new nurgle stuff? The sloven knights having exactly 0 is criminal.
Finally steelhelms could've been done better. Get rid of the bibs and give them some chainmail to make an aventail instead. Also give them the faceplates that are included in the fusilier kits, they look pretty cool. The dopey helmet has grown on me but it really starts to look good with the faceplate.

I think there's also the khorne dragon and like two other demon characters, like the one the kdaai was recycled into. Other than that there was laybe a skaven thing and I think tamurkhan and the other legion of azgorh stuff was around for a bit?
Forgeworld didn't do too much fantasy stuff though, and even less AoS. The fimir stuff too, did they have a character? I don't remember. Aside from the khorne dragon the only pure aos thing they did iirc was a stormcast head upgrade sprue lol
>>
>>
>>97617478
nta, but battleshock should have been reworked. it should have been lowered by a point across the game outside of demons and undead. Failing the battleshock test should have forced units to be unable to score objectives. Also there should have been less ways to ignore it and more stuff to modify it.
>>
>>
>>
>>97617797
I'm not the biggest fan, it can be good but there's sometimes just fuckups and things don't come out as intended, I've had holes or bent bits. If shit snaps it's much more of a pain in the ass to get fixed. Also I like using that melty plastic glue and that doesn't really work with Resin.
It's not as bad as finecast, but it's close enough that it bothers me.
>>
>>
>>97617219
Oh I just realized I completely misread your comment, sorry. Most obvious one off the top of my head is festus, I think his original mini was resin, though I don't think he was ever forgeworld exclusive. I think the list of truly forgeworld only characters is rather slim. I guess the... loonboss on giant cave squig is kind of spiritual successor to the big armoured squig from the night goblin command set but at that point we're really scraping the barrel for connections to make.

M8 Romanians used to write in Cyrillic until 1860's when they tried that whole nation building thing that was popular then.
They used to have a TON of Slavisms but then replaced them with (mostly) French neologisms.
Then during the USSR Romanian Cyrillic was used in Moldova but now they don't

Cathay is too cool, and I think I am going to pull the trigger, mainly because of the art. Jade Warriors/Lancers as Freeguild is obvious, but I am not super sure on how to incorporate peasants. The new box has plenty of guns so I am not worried about proxies for that. This art sold me ( the art in the background not the book cover ).
Would using Miao Ying (dragon form) as Tahlia be acceptable in your guys' eyes or is it too much of a stretch (considering she's much taller)

/wfg/ is convinced that dark elves are coming to TOW. Are there any rumours as to whether or not the Dark Elf kits are going to be playable in the next CoS book?
>>
>>97620807

Who cares. But the rumors are that they’ll be in the battletome. And the daughters of khaine kits aren’t going either.
You would sooner find malerion coming to Aos with a redesign before dark elves leave.
>>
>>97620827
I think that Umbraneth will be to Dark Elves what Lumineth are to High Elves. Not at all the same. Also I think if GW had plans to keep Dark Elves in AoS they’d probably advertise them/ship them with circles instead of the squares they are photographed on

They did for their start collecting boxes, and I’m pretty sure they are for dok. Although we would have to ask, when was the last time gw edited something on their store page?

We have two kind of contradictory rumours. One says all the current dwarf/elf/empire stuff will still be useable in the new battletome (reformation) one saying it's going to be gone (boole). So we're not entirely sure what's happening. Could be something like how dwarfs are currently handled, they're in the battletome but aren't being sold (for aos).
That being said neither the aos team nor the playerbase has ever cared much for the dark elf part of cities so I think it makes sense for them to go to tow. Especially now that we're starting to get some actual malerion rumours after all this time. I'm fairly confident he'll come to the game in 5th, probably souped with DoK.

>ANCIENT AELVEN GODS REBORN
>Symmetry and cyclicity are at the heart of aelven society, seemingly inescapable concepts to which even their gods are beholden. Of the ascended gods of the Lumineth, the twins Tyrion and Teclis are paramount. They represent in turn that which is solar and that which is lunar. Their saga extends deep into the ancient lore of the aelves, to a time before the birth of the Mortal Realms and the Age of Myth.
>During those distant days, the aelven gods were not beings who walked the earth, as they do now in these benighted times. Tyrion and Teclis carry, to some extent, the mantles of the ancient aelven deities Asuryan and Hoeth respectively. They are not alone, for there are other aelves who claim to act as the representative of or believe who claim to act as the representative of or believe themselves to be the avatar of one of the ancient pantheon. It is hard to deny the apparent cyclicity at work, especially where Teclis and Tyrion are concerned. Whether wise and benevolent Lileath, Vaul the smith or inscrutable Nethu, there is an echo of reincarnation in the twins' ascension, for in all things, the aelves are subject to a mythic pattern destined to repeat.

Speak for yourself no models secondary. Anvilgard was one of my favorites, and executioners, darkspears and sorceress were extremely common in lists all throughout 2nd and 3rd edition, until the latest abortion book was shat onto our plates.

Look man I'm not entirely happy about it either but let's be real the second they released nuCoS in 3rd that's all the faction is about now. You can take a look at the cossubredditand you can scroll for hours before you spot a model that isn't part of the new range.

It came out in 2016 very close to launch, it was a great way to get on board with Blades of Khorne because the box contained 4 heroes for a pretty low price, in addition to having rules for some of the heroes available in the original Starter Set. I recommend giving it a try as it's incredibly quick to learn, and quick to play. Not the greatest depth, but some fun stuff. 4 player rounds are stupid fun. We still play it among my friend group sometimes.

Tried looking at the sprues but kind of hard to see whether or not a bit fits into another bit to make a ball or if it's the whole thing. Purely talking about the iron balls here, not the mushroom variants.
Would like to use one for a conversion but also don't want to leave a gobbo ball-less of course. Seems cruel :)

WHO THE FUCK keeps writing faction tactics in 1D6Chan for Helsmiths of Hashut?!?
This is tactics written when HoH were just released and writers state that Bull Centaurs are basically meh/okay.
https://1d6chan.miraheze.org/wiki/Age_of_Sigmar/4th_Edition_Tactics/Ch aos/Helsmiths_of_Hashut
Now let us check actual math in Reddit post below:
https://www.reddit.com/r/HelsmithsofHashut/comments/1ndgo6p/how_strong _are_these_units_answered/
Bull Centaurs hit like a fucking freight train. AD Is average damage. "Bull Centaurs on the other hand are clear winners in this book.29.17 ADon the charge, not including their MW charge ability. Absolutelyinsane! They are one of the hardest-hitting single-activation units in the game, even beating out Aggradon Lancers with2rage tokens! (27.93 AD). You're going to want a reinforced unit in every list.
For comparison, unpledged Varanguard deal exactly 28.0 AD on the charge (not including their second fight), but Khorne varanguard still have them beat at 36.0 AD. "

We really need a new stabba kit, even if it's something like the skull pass starter: same assets but posed dynamically
>>
>>97623219
There's a novella of just that, where a tzaangor is turning villagers into beastmen.
Thondia had city settlers turned into beastmen too but they were presented as still loyal to Sigmar, but ofc it's likely the Stormcast would've showed up later to genocide them so that obviously wouldn't last
>>
>>97623219
yes, but also no
turns out wild magic doesn't like being controlled, so wild magic casters are generally people who unleash or herald it, not quite shape or weaponise it
but there's wiggle room, ghur can turn someone into a furry, yes
>>
>>97622871
The core rules from 1st to 2nd didn't change save what I listed. Points weren't there for a year and the meme rules were invalidated a few months after release and they were never intended to be seriously played.
The main difference is the first year lacked points and army composition outside of GA didn't exist, so you get a Fyreslayers battletome without traits or artefacts - they later received them in the GHB.
>>
>>97623224
The regular stabbas hold up fine imo (except their weapons they're kind of meh), but shootas do kind of suffer from being multibuild posingwise. Especially the guys holding their quiver and bow just out like that, always looked kind of odd to me.
That being said in the grand scheme of things they're fine, I can't imagine they're a hot priority right now. You also have to consider from gw's point of view, many people aren't too keen to rebuy and repaint 40 gits, even if the new kit is slightly better looking. Those resources are better spent introducing a new unit a lot of people will buy. Like armoured goblins or whatever, just spitballing here.

Hehehehe. You can have a single liege-kavalos (with imperious will for extra damage if you want) just run behind a line of kavalos units and all of them can use him for their ability. It's super silly, especially since it can mean the liege-kavalos runs the length of the board if you go in hard enough on it.

Is the same trick possible in AoS? Open portal to Hysh and scorch everyone with unbearable light? Open portal to Ghur and turn your enemies into beasts and watch as they turn upon themselves? Open portal to Chamon and turn them into golden statues (and sell them for profit)?

A portal to the realm does not flood the area with enough magic to do those things. People live their whole lives in a realm without turning into beasts.
However, you could try and do something with a corresponding realmstone, as they have similar properties being crystalized magic.

It's very good in the actual spearhead game, and for age of sigmar proper it gives you a good smattering of the main gloomspite subfactions. Everything in there except maybe the loonboss is useful.
I wonder what they'll replace it with. Surely they can't mean for the shitty gitmob one to be the only onboarding box for one of the most popular armies in the game. Given that they just did a troggoth battleforce, maybe something squig focused?
Let's say two squig herds, a giant cave squig, and a squigboss. That work? Maybe a bit light, could replace one of the squig herds with a squig hopper box. I suppose manglers are a bit too big for SH.

What would have the Fincarnate have been the incarnate of if it were still generic? Ghur already had the OG, so like the “oceans fury” wouldn’t really have worked for any other realm. I know spider was said to be Ulgu.
>>
>>
>>97625166
It's way too ocean-specific to have been a generic. The only realm that I would associate with water would be ghyran and even that would likely have more of a freshwater angle if they were even making it water related in the first place

The spider incarnate is part of the background art of the galletian beastiary, gallet is a region in the Ghurish heartlands next to thondia, where the krondspine mountaind are located. Presumably all the incarnates would've been from ghur, it was the theme of the edition after all. And what do you know, besides thondia and gallet this large landmass in the heartlands features one other named region, and it's dominated by a craggly coastline full of islands...

Another less shitty map that shows the full heartlands. Continent with thondia, gallet and andtor on the right. I think by the way korrok to the far east is where chorfs are hanging out now.
Anyway, if you actually look at the fincarnate it's remarkably un-idonethy. Not even so much as a little broken temple piece or whatever to establish their presence.
It *does* have a prominently featured "heart" in the pearl, similar to how the krondspine has its amberbone
I'm telling you that anon was on to something
>>
>>
>>97625323
Yeah makes sense, the whole 3rd edition season of war stuff seems to be a mess given what was scrapped and stuff.
